oh my message got posted before I had finished it!! anyway last week another one of my cats went missing for a couple of days but is thankfully back now. I know how horrible it is to not know what has happened to them. I guess no one would think my missing boy is lost if they saw him as he has worn the same collar for 3 years and it has never fallen off so I guess they would just think he was someone's pet. I really hope that cat is yours, my fingers are crossed for you x

Was it him? Oh I hope it was. I lost one of my cats 2 weeks ago in DSO and can't for the life of me find him, I have catnapped one cat thinking it was him, took him home to check his teeth, but it wasn't him so I returned him to the place I picked him up. Since then I have had several calls and when they describe the cat they all sound like the one I have been to see countless times. It seems there are a few stray cats around the DSO that are all black but not one of them is mine :(

The cat is a white cat, looks like a typical Dubai stray, quite large, don't remember seeing any siamese markings, he just looked a bit dirty but very handsome :) Now thiking that the white with ginger patches is also a lost cat and we saw him again last night. will try and get a picture. Please anyone if you have seen my black cat post on here, thanks

Phase 2, hope there's no one going round doing things to them or hurting them:( He normally stays in our back garden but the White Cat with the ginger patches has been coming in our garden and fighting with him and a couple of times he has chased him out over the wall. I found the white & ginger cat last night fighting with a brown cat at the front of an empty villa, was hoping it was mine he was fighting with at least then I would know he was ok. BTW if the owner of the white/ginger cat is reading this your little man dropped his collar in our garden, we still have it :) and if the owner of the all white cat is reading this - blimey your cat has a blinkin loud meow, he frightened the life out of me one day haha!!

Thanks for the info Nomad :) @Mellie, no he is completley black. There are a few black cats around cedre Villas and there is one which also has a red sparkly collar but it is smaller than my Merlin. Plus he is really shy and always hides under the sofa when we have visitors so I can't imagine he would just be sat out in the road for everyone to see him, he is more likely hiding and would run away from strangers. Thanks anyway :)

Novice I feel exactly the same as you! I have a 13 month old boy and am TTC a brother or sister for him. I only get to one playgroup a week and feel that I am making him miss out on making friends because I struggle with meeting new people myself. All my friends here either have older kids or no kids and most of my friends I have met through my old job or through my DH and the wives of his golfing buddies. I am not the kind of person to have a huge social circle, I prefer a small group of close friends. I am have been told by a friend of mine back in the UK who is a school teacher that she can tell which kids have been to nursery and which have just gone straight into school and this has made me more determined to put my son into part time nursery when he is a bit older but sometimes do wonder if he should be spending more time with children now. My mummy friends tell me that when they took their child at this age to playgroups they would play by themselves anyway so I haven't been too concerned in a way. I came on here tonight as I was just about to post and ask which are the best playgroups in my area :)

Hi, I used to live in JVT in a 2 bed arabic style and I loved it!! Really sorry to have moved from there but we needed more space for our growing family. Firstly our DEWA bills were the highest there that they have ever been but never over 2,400dhs. When we first moved we had a laeflet put under our door from one of the neighbours who had a dewa bill for 17K because they had an underground water leak. They did eventually sort this out but I think it took them some time. We were very worried that it would happen to us too but it didn't. It cost us 10K to have basic paving slabs and some grass and stones laid down and an extra 3K to have the fencing covered to make it private (we were on a corner). Basically I would decribe the villas as heat boxes. In the summer we had the ac on in two rooms downstairs and they would contradict each other in temp so only one was really doing the cooling and we never really felt that the room would get cool enough. Plus the fans in the ac are on constantly when the ac is on, its the units on the roof that switch on and off as necessary. All extractor fans in the villa are on at all times and can't be turned off. 500dhs of the dewa was for housing services, our water for the house and grass would be a further 500 dhs and the rest was electricity!!! The only problems we had were with horrible smells coming from the maids room but noticed it was when the sewerage needed emptying and also the kitchen ceiling developed a leak which was apparently condensation. If the roof drainage outlets are not unblocked from sand then the roof leaks and the water comes down the wall of the staircase and then leaves a really musty smell. If we weren't getting ready for having another baby we would have stayed there though as we really loved it. It was so nice not having another villa joined onto you but you are very overlooked at the rear of the property. For the last few months we got a direct view into our neighbours bedroom and they used to like to undress with the curtains open!! No amount of times me standing in our doorway and shouting my cats gave them the hint that just maybe I could see them - or maybe they were exhibitionists (sp?) . Now there is also an access from the springs it makes getting to and from there much better.

I have a nearly 8 month boy and he wakes at 5.30 most mornings! I have tried everything; changing his bedtime from 7pm to later, changing the time of the dream feed from 10.30 to 11pm and to 11.30pm, feeding him at 5.30am and re-settling, altering the temperature of the room from cold to warmer, ignoring him lol!!! Nothing works. He is still in our room as I am lazy and like him next to our bed and we have blocked out all the light with blackout blinds, taped over any lights on the TV, DVD, AC control so it is pretty dark in there but he still wakes early. It doesn't bother me some days as I only have him to worry about and so I just get up with him. It might be a different story if I had two kiddies to worry about! His daytime sleeps are either 8.30 till 9.30am or 9.15 till 10am and then he will normally have another hour at 12.30 or 1pm (depending on the time of his first nap) Its hard to know whether to grin and bear it or to keep trying diff things to see if they help. x
