Ginnee, that sounds like heaven! We lived near a strawberry farm back home, so when they were in season, we always had the most delicious berries (and don't even get me started on the strawberry ice cream!). I haven't had a decent strawberry since I moved here!

For future reference, I've purchased them before at Safestway on SZR - although, like anything in our fair city, it can be hit and miss!

5 K of cherries, lucky girl! I absolutely adore cherries and they are crazy expensive here! Salad sounds fab ... I would have never thought to do that with balsamic! I love a balsamic reduction, though ...

What/where is PQ? It's Le Pain Quotidien. Has branches in pretty much every mall and JBR as well. lol okay -- didn't know it was commonly abbreviated as such. It reminded me of DQ and boy, what I wouldn't do for a Blizzard right now!!! ... or a dipped cone ... or a Buster Bar ...

I was at Dubai Mall this morning at 11 -- during Ramadan is the best time to go during the day if you need to shop, you practically have the entire place to yourself!

That's the way it always goes, isn't it? Thanks, anyway, for responding! I'll post if I ever find one -- Dr. Amir Nasser was just recommended, so that's my next appointment (if DH's work ever sends the new insurance information!!!!). edited by amkcbrandon on 10/07/2013

Dates and water followed by a variety of dishes: Biryani, salouna and rice, baked fish, Mandy rice, baked mutton, baked chicken, fresh roti and steamed rice all with salads and various side dishes. I'm curious -- what is Mandy Rice?? (besides the British socialite, I mean!) I've seen it on menus but gotten a variety of different answers.

You said you see an American male ob/gyn -- would you mind sharing his name? That's exactly the sort of doctor I have been searching for this past year but haven't had any luck finding someone I feel comfortable with. Thanks!

We spent a long weekend there 2 summer ago, and I have to say it was the BEST trip of my entire life. I found a company called "Your Egypt Tours" when planning our vacation so booked several things through them, and I can't say enough good things about them! They were amazing. We actually became very good friends with one of our tour guides and still keep in touch with him to this day! http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g294201-d1918393-Reviews-Your_Egypt_Tours-Cairo_Cairo_Governorate.html#REVIEWS http://www.youregypttours.com/egypt-tours/

New restaurant! It looks like it's going to be open any day now -- I walked by yesterday and saw a bunch of staff in uniform, looks like maybe they were going thru some training or something. It's upstairs (right above Donner Express). Feri Kasif Tehroon Restaurant

I've seen eggnog in Safestway and Waitrose (Dubai Mall). I can't attest to how good it is, though -- and in fact, a lady (holding an adorable baby) advised me NOT to buy it when she saw me looking at it and she said it was terrible!

I've been using their products every since I discovered them in 2009 when we lived in London for a short time. I love pretty much every single thing they make! Their holidays themed items are always lots of fun -- the bath bombs are fab, I love the shampoo bars and hair treatments (New, Big, H'Suan Wen Hua, and R & B are some of my fave hair products). All their face masks -- love love love. Crazy about them! Can't get enough! Dream Cream, Gorgeous, Helping Hands -- and Tuca Tuca and Lust are 2 of my all time favorite scents out of any perfumes I've ever used. My husband loves Buffy and King of Skin body butters. The only thing I'm not crazy about is their henna hair dye -- only because it's kind of messy and when I've used it, I've managed to get it EVERY-flipping-where. But ... if you buy it, and don't want to mess with it yourself -- you can pay them to apply it for you. Not bad! Honestly, name it and I've probably tried it. I buy a lot of their gift boxes, too, and give as presents. Everyone always loves them!

This one is a definite process, but by far -- best fried chicken ever! Art Smith's Fried Chicken 1 3 lb. chicken, cut into 8 pieces Brine • ¼ cup of kosher salt • 6 cups of water Mix well. Place chicken in brine and soak overnight. Buttermilk and Hot Sauce Bath • 4 cups of buttermilk • ¼ cup of Louisiana Hot Sauce or any hot sauce of choice Drain brined chicken well and place in buttermilk and hot sauce Let marinate overnight. Seasoning Dredge • 6 cups of self-rising flour, White Lily • 4 tablespoons of garlic powder • 4 tablespoons of onion powder • 4 tablespoons of dried thyme • 4 tablespoons of fresh ground pepper Mix well reserve Egg bath • 8 whole eggs, beaten well • 1 cup of ice water In cast iron skillet, pour quarter of an inch of canola oil using a thermometer. Bring up to 350 degrees and keep the temperature constant. Drain the excess buttermilk and hot sauce off the chicken and place in egg bath. Coat each piece well, then shake off excess. Dip into seasoning, dredge and then shake off excess. Place in pre-heated oil and fry dark pieces first, skin side down for 8 minutes per side until the interior temperature of the meat is 180 degrees. Place on racks and reserve in 250 degree oven until time to serve. Fry white meat for 8 minutes per side until golden or until internal temperature reads 165 degrees.
