Thanks Natalie. We would be looking at getting out at Mall of Emirates (for Jumerah). I had heard that Emirates - apparently - had a bus laid for travel either way - but probably this is only for flight users from DXB. Thanks anyhow for help.

Thanks SJ. Is it not risky to carry large sums of cash across or is there another way (telex/cheque etc). In our case, I would be carrying across US$ to change over. I was looking at Al Ahalia on Hamdan Street. They look quite good and seemed as competitive as any.

Many thanks. I guess that one of the reasons behind suggesting a villa would to ensure that we could accommodate our dog. Is it possible that some of these apartments or flats in town might also be pet friendly? Other main reason - is I do like to live in a expat community as mentioned.

Anyone ever brought their dog from Oz to AD? Be good to know what protocals need to be followed in transporting our pooch from Brisbane along with what happens when he arrives in AD in terms of keeping him for a while etc before being released. It would also be useful to understand now I guess before we commit - the same steps in the other direction if/when we return from my husbands posting. Many thanks for any help.
