Thank you ladies for the good wishes. There are soo many lovely ladies from UK who brings in stuff for these children and even heard of a nice gran who moved to Bulgaria to help these children out with her retirement money. :o) Yes Cathrine, the documentary caused international outcry and TBACT was formed..i think Kate blewet(?) the one who filimed this for BBC , is one of the directors of tbact. DH went to another charity org there called Cedar, while he was there. They mainly have Roma autistic kids who are abandoned.. Now the situations are not as bad as before. Lot of NGO's are coming forward to help..they need volunteers and ofcourse the funds. What inspires me common people who are on holiday, coming forward to help these children- just as JoyceB said. Truly amazing.

Mrs Orchid, I have a spare tree that u can borrow..its a little damaged- but looks good and stands strong too. I pulled out few branches to make some swags, its ok I can make them next year..Inshallah :-) Its from C4- 180cm tall and 124cm wide- in box. I already put my tree up, will have to see if there are any decorations left. If you guys are leaving Dubai in Jan, I dont think u need to spend too much on a tree. If interested mail me @gmail.com <em>edited by AnnJo on 30/11/2012</em>

One more question-- Would anyone buy teacher's gifts during Christmas? @ zoco- Happy to share the table with you :o) Maybe you can give me a 'jar' full of inspiration. mail me [email protected].

No Q, I havent been anywhere, except Safa fleamarket. I've seen some craft stalls there , but none of them does good there...I spoke to the seller once and she said flea markets are not the best place for crafty things..but she gets exposture for her products (she makes hairclips and bows) havent been to Arte/green community..so totally ignorant when it comes to the market trends. :(

Dear Jade, Even I'm searching for one for my 3 yr old son. Being nervous is absolutely fine..We are all in this together..at some point of our lives.. You will find many good ones here in Dubai..depends on the place where u guys stay and the budget. Most good nurseries cost about aed 2k/month. Some even go upto 3 k/month. 3 terms, timing is flexible in almost all of them. Well..good luck in ur relocation.Dubai is a great place to be.. but summers (June-Sep)can be a bit harsh.(so summer clothes and a hat is a must..lol) Before reaching Dubai, you need to have an idea of what salary they will give you so that you can look at the housing options, here in Dubai , people try to stay near the kids' school/nursery becoz school runs and traffic is crazy. ExpatWoman is the best way you can mingle with likeminded expats..they have regular coffee meetups organised by the EW. There is a separate Forum for Nurseries and Schools so you might have to go through those threads too to get a better idea. Hope that helps.. take care..enjoy ur motherhood :o).

Hey Scotchanddiet..just happened to see the thread..I'm a big time decoupage fan..(just like the million crafter moms all around the world)Since finding Modpodge was a bit of hassle..I found out a cheaper way of getting my crafts done. mix equal parts of white glue (pva/wood glue-anything that dries clear) and water, shake shake shake- you are good to go. If you want a matt finish, skip the second coat. I usually use varnish for the final coat. Recently did one project..see if you like this(Decoupage but no modpodge used) http://thecraftysideup.blogspot.com/2012/02/decoupaged-silhouette-plate-tutorial.html :o) HTH.

We got white led lights for our tree..coz we stuck to the traditional red/green/white colors..(though my hub was soo inclined on having a black tree,we finally settled for a green one from Dubizzle.) We dint use ribbons to go around the tree..instead we used green and red bead-strings(not sure what u call it here) If you are interested you can have a look at our tree here - http://thecraftysideup.blogspot.com/2011/12/o-christmas-tree-o-christmas-tree.html (I'm a new craft blogger) :) Have yourself a merry little Christmas !!!!!

Shelly..did u ever think of painting the room pink/purple with white detailing..(?) ..you can adorn the walls with just about anything..frame some art work that DD has done.. cloth line with all her art works pegged, i saw this real cool idea where they handpainted big foam alphabets and hung them up.(a day for each letter). and a part (a lil over their height)of the wall painted with chalkboard paint so kids wont be grounded for doodling on the wall :o) Not sure if you get big bold pink/purple/lilac round decals..u can cut out patterns and stick 'em up. or get a mural artist to draw a tree with branches with famed pic of ur DD's milestones, 3D butterflies, cut out flowers, few birds, a bird house made outta milk carton..options with that are endless... Do you have a theme in mind? they say when it comes to decorating , pick a theme /color /pattern that sorta grows with the kids..else its gonna be a bit expensive. Does ur baby girl like something in particular ? I've seen some real flashy colors in playrooms (but tastefully done) just coz the kids love the oranges and blues and red..after all its their room :o) happy decorating..and do post a pic when its done.
