Hi there, I was in a similar position to you back in the summer and was searching for a legal counsel position here in Dubai while not in the country yet. 1st question: Recruitment agency response time varies depending on the size and also your seniority (they tend to reply much faster to senior lawyers because they are more in demand). I would suggest always directly emailing your application to the poster as oppose to just applying to the position through the site. If you would like, I can give you more specific info based on the legal recruitment agencies as I was in contact with most of them. 2nd question: It took me a month and a half to find a job, another 3 weeks of negotiation before I accepted. There are alot of factors that go into the timeline though. For me I was dealing directly with the company so it went a bit faster, friends who have gone through recruitment agencies experienced a longer process. However I can say that almost all the people I know here have said once they accepted the position the companies are always in a big rush to get them out here and starting asap. Thank you to all of you with your responses, which are all extremely helpful. I find this to be very daunting experience and feel very lost and confused as well. sd123 I would really appreciate all the help that I can get - thank you for offering. I can be contacted at
