Not sure if this is any help, but there us a Gems British school next to the American hospital. I don't know anything about the school, other than I pass it when going to the A.hosp. I think that is the Winchester School. Is it british? I thought it followed the indian curriculum http://www.gemswinchesterschool-dubai.com/contents.php?pageid=2334&parentid=836&submenuid=5994&parentid=836 Yes, British....

Or rock climbing...adventure HQ have a climbing wall and a sort of sky trail obstacle course. If use entertainer vouchers it works out as 50dhs for two children. I haven't been to kidzania yet, was going to go with my 4yo but would have worked out at over 150dhs and he would probably lose interest after an hour. You are right. I would not take a 4 year-old to Kidzania. It would be a waste of money....

I am so sorry, Cherpie. It is hard to be going through a marriage breakdown, especially when you feel that you have no rights. I don't know how we can advise you... I know, I just have no other outlet as I'm pretty isolated here and I can't tell my own family they would just say I told you so or some other upsetting thing. Hi Cherpie! My DH is also a GCC national. Although I don't have these issues, I am happy to lend you an ear if you ever need one. Let me know and I will post my email address on here... edited by AnonDubai on 08/09/2014 So weird... I'm from where you are as well (I think), I'm glad you fared well :) Where are you from? You have not yet told us! edited by AnonDubai on 08/09/2014

Not quite a playground but Bounce in Al Quoz is supposed to be very good for older kids And there is one now in Uptown Mirdif too. Another place that would be perfect for children that age is Kidzania although it is not a play area. They could easily spend the whole day inside...

Don't should on yourself, Mamacat! Any of us could be in your situation! People are often dismissive of health issues because they think that something may just be normal with aging. Thanks for letting all of us know about the symptoms. Your posts may have sent many women reading this for pap smears which they wouldn't have done otherwise. We are all rooting for you!!!

Hi! Please don't worry. I haven't read the other responses but I just wanted to say that babies and toddlers have a huge range for all milestones that are still within the normal range. I have 4 children and my third didn't pull himself up until 10 months and hardly moved around until then. He would just sit there all the time! And he did not walk until he was 19 months! You can imagine the strange looks! He is now two and doing everything normally. None of my children were crawling at 7 months. Please also know that crawling is actually not a milestone. Some babies never crawl and bumshuffle or slither instead. Also remember that your son was premature. Don't listen to what other people say. I know it is hard but you are going to have to get used to not listening to other people's parenting opinions...

All the App is doing is locating the Ipad that is in front of me. Have you downloaded it onto another device to check your iPad. Is you've done that then you'll need to put the iPad somewhere else and check it again. Can you not go and put it in the car or something? Thank you, GE, but I don't see how that would make a difference. The tracker is showing the Ipad at my address but not specifically where in my home... I have never managed to get a specific location in the house, but I would have thought it's mainly for use if it gets stolen or you leave it somewhere Yes, that is what I am trying to do. My children's school has asked us to buy Ipads for each child but I do not want to send my children into school without this software...

Hi! To answer your questions: I did this back in January. There is no price difference between a transfer and a renewal. The process can be done in an hour. You and the sponsor need to go to the visa renewal place together to complete the procedure. Ask the sponsor to bring her passport, Emirates ID, and yellow Hepatitis B injection card so you can see her health card number. I am not exactly sure about the fees but I think that you are looking at paying around 8000 dirhams in cash to the visa renewal place. 2000 will be refundable. There are more fees but they will come later. Technically, the maid cannot start living with you until she is sponsored by you. You cannot bring a new Philippino domestic servant into the country but you can employ one who is already here. The fees depend on which emirate your visa is from. If you are in Dubai, I listed the approximate fees above.

What kind of reference would you give to a prospective hiring sponsor? Throughout your posts, you haven't painted your maid in the best light. You even wrote once that you are being nice about her. Is anyone reading this interested in hiring her?

I have an answer for that one question, the fact of the maid she have open channels with you made her comfortable with you, you are not the boss anymore, you are just another woman her aura as a boss is already gone or faded by being familiar with the boss, so boss become another woman competing with her. it become a relationship of 2 women living in the same place, she see you in all your times, good ones and bad ones, she has seen you just walked up, and seen you when you are sick, but you never see her like that, you seen her always dressed up, here she starts playing the game of trying to take the man of this house, after she already guaranteed the love of his children, she compare her self to "the other woman" whom happened to be married to the man of the house! she witness your fights and disputes, she know about your relationship more than you can imagine, then she try using your clothes, in a try imagining herself the boss of this house, the later is a psychological this everybody knows it as role playing with pre-schoolers and un educated adults do, she wants to be you! she cleans your house, babysit your kids, why not take the man? this is simply the answer of the question of why good maids turn bad, I can hear someone will say what is wrong with me posting this? or why a maid think she can take a man from his family? or what kind of backward thinking I have? simply you and your maid do not share the same education of position in life or even the same language, you are coming from 2 worlds, and I can see so many philippino maids go clubbing and they are seeing men throw them selves on them, only because they are spreading their legs for whomever pay for the night out, or start a relationship and do things to the man a wife don't do, I do remember a saying wives don't give blowjob! but maids do! as she have nothing else waiting for her except mouths to feed, so she will do what ever she can to have this man as a husband to secure her life after one million year she won't be able to have. I really feel sorry for women in this age and time still do this like hundred of years ago. so boss be aware of your maid! Lol

We removed all our grass as it literally is just like throwing money away and replaced it with tiles but have all the walls surrounded with low-water consumption plants like bamboo, bourganvilia, desert rose, almond trees etc. The garden feels really green with high plants but it doesn't cost a lot at all. Also it's worth having irrigation installed rather than having someone stand there with a hose pipe pouring out water. Great idea!

Hi RuthM! I am sorry that you are going through this. I also went through this with my first child. She never latched on and I ended up pumping and doing mixed feeds for three months before I surrendered to formula. I was also given bad advice in the hospital and if you start off badly, it is hard to correct it. Hopefully, if you keep pumping, your supply will increase and you will successfully feed your daughter!

I agree, Daza. Why do you even care, OP? I think that we've all had it with lazy maids and it is really unfair of you to think that she should work for another family. Expats pay a lot to sponsor maids and they need good workers!

RuthM, your supply is low because you are mixed feeding. Stop giving her formula now and you will see that your supply will increase. Don't pay too much attention to how many ounces you are getting from a pump. A pump is not as efficient as a baby sucking. Crying and frequent feeds are normal at this age. It does not mean that your baby is not getting enough breast milk. If you have any more questions about breastfeeding, I am happy to answer them for you. Surprisingly, a lot of pediatricians don't know much about breastfeeding....
