Marroosh, I have seen a picture of you online... I never put my pictures online.... Wish they had PM here so you can tell me where! It was on Twitter, I think. I don't remember how I came upon it. Maybe it was an old picture. Don't worry. You were in hijab. Oh ok at least that's a relief lol. I have been off twitter for 2 years now though... Did you ever post a picture of yourself on Twitter? I think I might have had a profile picture for a while. But I know once it's out there it stays out there! Yes, so there's your answer.

Can't you just give her the benefit of the doubt? Maybe she is truly happy with the salon and is not advertising. If she were, don't you think she'd give more details about the salon?

Flying back to Dubai today, can't wait to get back! I saw you in the plane, KLM at 14:30pm Do you two know each other? I did not see anyone I know on my flight. Not sure if I like people knowing exactly what flight I was on and sharing that, but not coming up to me on a flight saying "I think we know each other". This is the problem when you (and I'm not talking about you specifically, Marroosh) share too much information online. People know who you are and what you look like yet you do not know them. This is the case for a few posters on here, myself included. In my case, it's not a problem because I am not really anonymous, despite my user name...

No it's not Anon. Someone mentioned that her maid was sick and that she had her bringing her sliced mango to her room....basically a complete role reversal; and a very cunning maid completely taking the p!ss. Does anyone remember who that was?

Back to OP - if this forum is JUST "where can i get a du sim card from" then it is very, very, very boring and the reaming 5 old time users will not bother checking in. Then you will have a bunch of newbies asking and trying to answer inane questions.... the only reason 99% of old time users pop in for the hope of something juicy, or a good ole "i slice my maid's mango" thread...... Noone pops in to give you love and kisses about your nail polish / fake nails - whatever the h£ll shellac are ;) I am really curious about these 'sliced mango' and 'cucumber' threads which so many of the old posters rave about. Seems some of us missed some really great/entertaining threads. have tried to search but with no luck :-( The sliced mango thread is an urban legend. It got started by me about 5 years ago and was then embellished upon by other users, as usual.... The cucumber thread did happen, but that seemed to be a wind-up. EW deletes their old threads after a few years, which is why you will never find them...

I prefer goat meat, especially Pakistani goats. I don't like the Somali type. The goat meat they sell at the Co-Op is from Ethiopia...

Laham is the generic term for meat but there are specifications for beef, camel etc in Arabic. Yes, but they don't seem to be used in this country. of course they are. I haven't noticed them ever being used. Do you know the words for beef, lamb, goat, camel, etc.? I have been told that they use different words in Egypt and other Arab countries but not here... edited by AnonDubai on 18/08/2014

In local Arabic, there is no differentiation in meat. The word "lahm" could mean beef, goat, lamb, camel, etc. Maybe the person doing the labeling is confused.

Goat meat here is very common - locally referred to as "mutton" so you have probably bought it thinking it was a sheep. It is delicious. Oh really? I thought mutton was lamb...

Hi Kiwispiers. I cannot explain my statement. It was only an assumption. Something about the picture of her and her daughters make me think that she is a breast feeder. I have just found her Facebook page and she writes about this story. She basically said that it was not her who went to the media and she only agreed to be interviewed to encourage restaurants to have changing facilities and to let people know about the poor customer service. She also wrote that the media has not presented her side of the story... edited by AnonDubai on 16/08/2014

Hi! I have two boys 20 months apart. I stopped breastfeeding my son when he was 19 months old and I was 8 months pregnant. I was planning to do tandem breastfeeding but my son just lost interest. I have no idea why. Maybe I had a low milk supply? I thought that he might be interested in starting up again once his brother was born but that did not happen. Sometimes I joke with him when I am breastfeeding his brother and he shows absolutely zero interest in the breast! In fact, he wants nothing to do with it! So you may be surprised at how things turn out... edited by AnonDubai on 15/08/2014

Hi. Just to provide a different perspective, I am married to a local and I know many other women who also are. We all live very varied lives. Some of us post pictures of ourselves in bikinis on Facebook and others wear niqabs. Some go off for the summer to their Christian countries with the kids without their husbands and some don't travel alone at all. I think that our lives are very similar to the lives of women married to men from similar backgrounds. Some of us are happy. Some of us are not. That being said, if you are a devout Christian, I would think that it would be hard for you to raise your children as Muslims. I don't know of many Muslim men (even the non-practicing ones) who allow their children to not be Muslim. I do know of some, however.... Also, if your boyfriend is a non-practicing Muslim now and you like that aspect of him, expect that he will most likely become a practicing Muslim at some point.

Ok, thanks. That's good to know, why are they banned by the way? This time, the ban is from the UAE. The UAE is refusing to allow the government of the Philippines to dictate what the minimum wage should be here. The UAE has decided to stop processing new visas for maids from countries where they try to impose a minimum wage...

Obviously someone saw her do it! Personally, I don't think it is gross but I don't think it is acceptable either. If she is a breastfeeding mother, then there couldn't have been an odor. Some people need to think logically... So, logically, you think it's ok to feed your children in a public toilet? It's not ideal but sometimes logistically, it is necessary... I have done it many times, but not in this country... Sabrina, you did not read carefully. I was answering a question about feeding in public toilets. I will edit it so that you can understand...

all nappies smell - Breast fed, bottle and solids. Yes, they do. EBF diapers smell like baked goods... What a strange justification for changing a dirty nappy at a dining table And yes formula fed babies nappies smell bad for their mothers let alone for strangers trying to enjoy a meal! Nowhere did I justify what she did. Please read carefully.
