Thank you. I am just wondering what the general consensus is regarding cellulite... I need a new bathing suit and I can't find one with a skirt so I don't know what to do. I am really not comfortable with anyone seeing my thighs... :-(

I'm sure they feel nice but they are definitely not necessary. I've certainly never had a post-natal massage and neither have my babies. Are you Indian by any chance? I have to disagree. I had 30 days of post natal massage done after the birth of second baby, and it really helped me cope better with sleep deprivation, mood swings, extra demands of older child. Further, I truly believe the regular, alternate day deep tissue massage helped my body recover from the pregnancy and natural child-birth. I tend to tense my neck, shoulders, back when under normal stress. I had knots of tense muscle all over, and by day 20 I started to feel more like my normal self, physically and mentally ready to mother my kids, train a new maid, and everything else. Ok send her my way then. I need some tlc!

Hi EE! I am sorry that you are going through this but please don't despair. You might not be as far along as you think, in which case it would be normal not to hear a heartbeat. If you are feeling fine, don't assume the worst. Just wait until next week and please update us. I am thinking about you and hoping for the best!

Yes, this would bother me in any language and not just in salons. Idle chitchat in front of customers is very unprofessional. I used to work as a bagger and as a cashier in a supermarket and we were never allowed to chitchat with each other in front of customers and I hated the bosses for that... Years later and older and wiser, I can see why they don't allow this. When I go to the USA and see the teenage cashier flirting with the bagger while ringing up my groceries, I get really annoyed...

A few years back, I was told by my DD's school that they had places so I paid the 500 dirham fee and she was assessed. After she passed the assessment, I was told that there were no places. I was really peeved and put up a stink about it. I would not have paid just to be wait listed. A letter was sent to the principal. The next day, I had a call saying that a place had opened up for her and she started immediately. So I learned at that time that it is best to speak up. If I had sat back quietly, she may have never gotten a place at all. HI, I have the same problem as you. DESS charged me 500 AED for registration called my daughter for assessment which she attempted without any mistake as I was there during the assessment but then they put her on waiting list. I am email continuously to registrar and she keeps telling me about unavailability of space do you suggest that I should email to Principal if yes what should I say. I really don't know what to tell you. It is worth a try, but did DESS tell you specifically that they had places? They had places.. about 88 places v/s 250 candidates the chances were bright but I think they first prefer Westerners then Asian ( the only reason I can understand) other than that my daughter performed well. edited by saeedariaz1 on 17/04/2014 Basically you are saying that your child was not chosen. Our situations are different because I was told after my DD's assessment that they wanted to accept her but had no places, after I had been told that they did have places. DESS is a hard school to get into, so I am not surprised that your child did not get a place. I think that children with British passports have priority, which us understandable considering that it is a British curriculum school...

Job hunting in Dubai (and anywhere else in the world these days) is HARD work. It doesn't matter what your qualifications are, how many years of experience you have, or if you're new to UAE or not...it takes time, resilience, and patience. You need to continue to be persistent, put yourself out there, network, refresh your CV's and cover letters, and keep going. No job is going to knock on your door, you need to be aggresive and try all options. Yes, there are many recruiters who won't bother emailing back, even after interviews...but no point dwelling on it, just move on to the next opportunity. Good post, Sakhifa...

I wouldn't call it stalking, but I would think they took this, A FORUM, far too seriously, far more seriously than it is meant to be taken. I mean, my name isn't Amy… I wasn't[t born in 82… I may be from the UK but spent two great years in Oz so call it home… but you could hate me, and if you hate me ever so much because the character I've created bothers you so much, then you need the five star rating (i.e. a holiday to Disneyland :D). I really thought that your name was Amy, that you were Australian, and that you were born in 1982...

It's all so strange! Our school sent out an email last week saying that the principal would update us on the situation. Then an identical email was sent about 15 minutes later with that part taken out and no mention of the omitted paragraph. Since then, there has been nothing!

@ jemi - would you mind sharing the building/area where you rent your apartment? I am looking for something similarly priced for an employee who will soon be coming over to Dubai. Many thanks. I live in the Al-Nahda 2 area of Dubai. Rents ranged from AED 48,000 - 55,000 when I was renting this apartment. I've heard rents have gone up since Dubai won EXPO 2020, so you'll need to find out what the current rents are. edited by Jemi on 09/04/2014 Personally, i wouldn't say that was a "great" area..... edited by IzzyOnTheSeat on 09/04/2014 What don't you find great about that area? Think that is obvious to most people and really doesn't need to be said. I apologise, I only know it's roughly in Deira old Dubai area. I have no knowledge how the area is, just for me knowledge can you share what is it anyway? I used to live there. It's not a bad area at all and I did like living there. It is a very busy area with very few Westerners and you have everything so close by, which is very convenient. However, the biggest drawback for me was that the traffic is really bad in that area and there is no way you can escape it. Thousands of people leave their apartments every morning at the same time and you are stuck with them.

I hate it when stores ask me for a dirham. Even if I have a dirham, I say no. What's the issue with giving them a dirham if you have it? Because they ask you whether they need it or not, essentially hoarding coins. Yes, I agree. The askers are operating cash registers, so technically they should have access to coin rolls, which the average person does not. The average person needs coins for things, like getting a shopping cart at Carrefour, using vending machines, and paying for parking. Yes, I know that you can pay for parking by SMS, but not everyone wants to all the time, and not everyone can if their plate's emirate is not the one in which they are parking...

Hi Ladies! Thanks for all your concern. Things are slowly getting better and I discovered that maybe his latch was a little off even if it didn't look it. I am now breastfeeding with both hands, using one hand to hold my boob into his mouth rather than using that hand to hold a phone or Ipad! lol I had become a very lazy breast feeder and I was always using electronics while feeding but I stopped doing that, at least for the time being, and I can see an improvement already! Note to first time mothers: Put away your electronics in the first few weeks of breastfeeding to help your baby latch.

There are two of them. One has figurines and one has mini dolls. I have been looking for the latter one for quite a while now. I saw it at Hamley's a while back. It was 265 dirhams so I decided to wait on it. When I went back to buy it, it was gone and they have not had it since. I even looked at getting it online from the USA and it is not even available there. I am really surprised that the Chinese toy makers cannot keep up with the demand, considering how much this junk is retailing for! It is available nowhere, it seems. We all just have to wait!

Hi Kiwispiers! Thanks for your response. It's definitely not the creams because I started having this problem about a week before I started using the creams. I am going to give it another week. If this continues, I will have no choice but to see a lactation consultant. For now, I don't feel like paying hundreds of dirhams to go see one, but I just might have to. Thanks again for your input!

Yes, I have definitely seen the mosquitoes. I have been trying to kill them manually. I see them flying around and this morning, while I was feeding my son, I saw the same one on random parts of my body. When I turned the lights on to find it, I found three more flying around. And then my other son woke up this morning covered in bites on his face and I saw that mosquito last night and tried to kill it but failed. It is definitely not bed bugs.

My worry is that if they are consistently below average in the younger years, that will affect their self-esteem in the later years. That being said, the oldest children in a class are not necessarily the strongest and vice versa... I really don't know what I will do and I couldn't make any sense of today's article regarding KG 1 cut-off dates in the Gulf News. Whatever the ministry decides, someone will be the youngest... Self esteem? It will teach them to work harder and realize that life isn't easy. It will probably benefit them in the end. Do you really think so?

Thanks for your input, AJ. I know this sounds really superficial but sometimes I think that if I hold a birthday party for my son and invite his classmates, everyone would come assuming that he is turning 4 when actually he is turning 5. Then everyone would know that he is older and he might get made fun of later on... But as you said, there are often children here in a grade where they technically shouldn't be because of the transient nature of the population. If I had a July or August born baby, I would definitely hold them back, but I think it's a difficult decision to make when your child is born in mid June.
