I've asked this question before and I was laughed off the forum. It is a serious question, though. I believe that Indian mutton means goat... I don't know about the other types of mutton though...

The best place to buy kids jalabeeyas is at a little store inside the Emirates Co-Op in Al Twar. That is where I get all of mine and they have them for adults too. I understand that it is a very long drive for you but it really is the best place IMO.

Very exhausting day unfortunately. I thought about it and decided this government is probably the last thing I want to get more involved in so I did approach embassy and recommended legal consult. My options, minimal unless a. Pony up bunch of money b. Prepare to take drastic measures and potentially severe consequences later. It is what it is and I'm pretty much stuck. Hi Cherpie! If you ever need someone to talk to, I am here for you. I can't help you with your issues but I can listen to you.

Sorry to hear that, Cherpie. I thought that things had gotten better for you since he let you celebrate Christmas. My only advice to you is to make sure that you don't have any more children...

Cherpie, can't you move and then go visit your family? Doing one doesn't mean that you can't do the other. I wouldn't want to move to Abu Dhabi either, but if my DH comes home one day and says we have to, I will. That is where the money is at!

Earlier when Dubai was not that popular yet, I have friends back home asking me "How's Saudi?"....they have that impression or conception that Dubai back then was part of Saudi ..yay! I have gotten that question too! "What part of Saudi Arabia is Dubai in?" Lol In my case, everyone who lives here is weird. I am already considered weird by my family. When they found out that "normal" people live here, they were surprised!

There is one at festival city. I can't remember what it is called It is called Al Fanar. For traditional take-out, try any of the Public Cook or Traditional Kitchen venues...

Hi Reem! I am sorry that I don't have much advice for you. However, you should not be putting anything in a bottle other than formula. Your baby is too young for rice and Cerelac. I wouldn't consider starting that now. It is not uncommon for formula-fed babies to have reflux issues. This too shall pass.

Lol. Laughing at the replies saying 35 -40k. My DH doesn't even get that and we pay two x secondary fees at a good British school and we pay our own rent all from his salary. She needs to be able to afford the brunches, the Range Rover, and the half-term trips to Mauritius....

I didn't get anything. My husband would like to get me the Samsung S6 but it is not out yet so I will have to wait for my Valentine's Day gift... A phone is like a vacuum cleaner, it's a necessity of life. It's not a special gift that says "I love you more than money" Well, there are phones on the market here for 90 dirhams...

Hi! My mother had this surgery in September 2014. She suffered and struggled a lot, especially for the first 6 weeks. She is much better now and is currently here in Dubai visiting me! She used to always take painkillers before the surgery and now she only takes an occasional Tylenol. Tell your mother to stay strong and persevere with the exercises. What surprises me, however, is that your mother had both knees done at the same time. I was told that this is not even done and that they only do one knee at a time.

They have Tom and Jerry clothing at the Babyshop. Also, the McDonald's happy meal toys are currently Tom and Jerry. You can go buy a few happy meals at McDonald's and see what toys they have. I think they will sell you the toy without the meal for 5 dirhams. The happy meal toy I got today is a Tom feeding bowl. The Tom figurine is really nice and my two year-old son was using it to feed Tom. edited by AnonDubai on 10/02/2015

This is why I don't believe much of what I read on here... It's a real shame isn't it? I was looking back at 2011 post today that I'd been involved it, seemed like a whole different bunch back them x Agree, I was thinking this morning reading the forum its getting more like the classifieds. That edit would be a name change as DT says , although its weird to edit your own posts as the new name trying to look like another person. I did change my user name to a more appropriate name when I left Dubai (di@dxb) but I have mentioned it several times and not keeping a secret of the fact at all, so hope I have not caused any confusion. I had no idea that was you. Thanks for the clarification. Are you in France now?

I haven't noticed this. However, many people prefer or will only hire Phillipino maids. Due to the ongoing ban on new recruitment from the Phillipines, Phillipinos here realize how much they could make. Maids generally have a cushy job compared with other unskilled professions here because everything is paid for...

I have had both set-ups and both have their pros and cons. It is nice to have privacy in the house when the maid's room is outside. However, for babysitting purposes, it is much easier to have the maid's room inside...

Wow! That is a very expensive co-pay. I had my first child at a private hospital and I had maternity insurance. Everything was covered except the epidural. I know that circumcisions are not covered by private insurance if you are having a boy.
