Hi there I am also a HR professional looking for work here in Dubai. While I have only been here for three months looking (I am on my husbands visa and we moved here due to a transfer for his role), and have been so surprised by how terrible the market and outlook seems. I wish you all the best in finding the right role really soon. Good luck and stay positive.

I've found uber as good as anything. If it's for a short time until you find your feet (and a more permanent driver for that matter) it could work. To get an idea of cost sign up by downloading the app and you can do fare estimates to give you and idea based on your from and to locations. Good luck and hope this helps

Hi Not sure if this helps but I was at Lock Stock a few weekends ago and the music was a great mix of 80's, 90's and newer. It is at the Grand Millunium. Happy hour is from 5-8pm so if you get there just before you can get a table and service downstairs. Good luck!

Hi there I can share my recent experience and I hope it will help. I can't talk for the medication either have listed however I did bring my own medication in to Dubai three weeks ago. I had six months worth of medication in my checked in luggage - each box was labelled with my name from the pharmacy. I had a letter from my Dr stating these were my medications and that I required to travel with them. I did not have a prescription with me however - but as I said each box/bottle of tablets had the label from the pharmacy stating my name and the prescribing Drs name. I just made sure my name was correct which obviously matched my passport. I have done this twice now, once to visit and then again when I moved here. Both times without and hassle and I have not been stopped by security either time but perhaps I'm lucky. I had all the supporting documents so I wasn't worried. I also wanted to add - if this point is relevant to you - it would be ideal to bring six months atleast worth of medication with you when you move. Noting I am not a dr ofcourse and am only talking from personal experience. I say this purely because moving (let alone moving countries) is quite stressful so my dr recommended I ensure my medication was consistent. Settling in takes time so I found this was necessary! In my experience I have found only psychiatrists can prescribe such medication. I did some reasearch and chose one - I was able to book an appointment the same week. I found many psychiatrists will do a one hour session first to detail your history and then request only thirty minute follow up sessions from there. I didn't try to find a public psychiatrist, I found a private clinic and paid the full fee. Some insurances may cover this in part but that depends. Apologies for the very long post. I am by no means a dr or an expert, simply sharing my recent experience. I have also followed this same process for Qatar where I lived also again without an issue. All the best. x

Do you need a TL for something such as dog walking or feeding people's animals in their homes while they are away? Seems you need a licence for everything so I wondered about these types of services. Thanks in advance

Hi I'm Australian and got my U.A.E liscence yesterday. You need to get your liscence translated to Arabic , there are a few companies that can do this for you for a fee (my husbands work organised mine) they also wanted to see my Passport and Emirates I.D. I had an eye test at the Center (30aed) and liscence cost 200aed which I recieved right then and there Thank you so much! That is great news.

Thank you both for the info. I hoped this was the case but am being told otherwise. Definitely will be there in an Aus passport and have an Aus licence. You have both made my day! Thank you
