I had the same problem. I deleted the ads from Dubizzle and reposted again with reduced price. It keeps the items at the top of the listings and the lower price might attract other buyers. Also when you post each item put a note in the add to say "also for sale ....." and list the other items too. If you do get a potential buyer come look, they will often be interested in what else you have to sell. I even sold some things I have intended to give to charity as I didn't ever consider anyone would buy. If you do have to give away I highly recommend Take My Junk. They come when they say, they are very efficient and they take absolutely everything from large pieces of furniture to the chopping board in the kitchen!!!

We handed back the keys to our lovely little 3bed+maids in Umm Suqeim 2 today as we are leaving Dubai. Should be in budget and option for 2 cheques. Let me know if you want the landlords details.

yes - you can. I sold my car last week. I did sell back to dealer but I don't think that makes any difference.

Ummm.....I seriously don't think so! This Monday when I felt both the 'shakes' it was only my front door that violently shook for 3 to 4 seconds and absolutely nothing else in the house. Last night when the 'shakes' came again they first shook our pool side full-length patio doors violently for 3-4 seconds, only the patio doors and nothing else. But later on, only the front door (on the opposite side of the house to the mentioned patio doors) shook and again absolutely nothing else. Each time it has happened nothing else is affected, no swinging light fittings or any light wight objects in the house!!! So I would say definitely not an earthquake. How is it mostly felt in a few neighbourhoods and not others.....again, it can't be an earthquake. It definitely is a directional thing, i.e. the direction of the cause changes which is what can cause the shakes to only happen on one side of the house and then on the other. Wonder if we'll find out.....ever? I had exactly the same experience - first 2 that came close together were at the back of the villa on the left. The next one was at the front of the villa on the right. Each time it just effected one window in the room. How come? Also the evening before "it" violenty rattled a door at the front of the villa. Nothing else effected.

My front door shook, opened and no one there. Safa area. It's definitely localised. Just went out and nothing going on anywhere.. it's not anything to do with metropolitan hotel being knocked down? Doing a Fred Dibner on it? That happened to me yesterday around 5.15pm then again about 10 mins later. Door shook and I thought someone rattled it. No-one there when I checked. Second time I thought it must be wind...but there wasn't any. I had forgotten about it until you mentioned it. How freaky is this?

We are in Umm Sequiem 2 and have felt nothing. They have just opened up 5 stations around Dubai to monitor/record earthquakes. You don't suppose they are testing these stations as these "reported tremors" seem to be bizarre, as in only affecting windows. I'm in Umm Suqeim 2 and most definitely felt it - all 3 times!

I also thought it sounded like something/someone pounding on window. Not all the windows were shaking. It seemed to be only those that slide open like patio windows which is a bit strange. Sadly I know from experience that with an explosion, the whole place shakes.

If you are a member of a group scheme with the company and you leave the company, you can often carry on the insurance with an individual policy, thereby keeping cover for your pre-exisitng cover. For new policies sometimes they will underwrite and cover you but with an increase in the premiums and/or certain conditions attached. Depends on what the pre-existing condition is. As for medication costs, again, you can often pay an increase in premiums to have this included. Try Now Health. They are pretty good.

Hi there I just sent my dogs back to UK. We had to have 2 health checks - one form the vet where they have worming and frontline done and then received a health certificate. Then they had to go to Cargo village for the government vet to do another check/certificate. We used a company to do this for us so they came and collected the dogs and took them to cargo village. The dogs were taken late in the evening as cooler and I guess less busy. For our vet the cost was about AED700 per dog. The government bit was AED550 for the 2 dogs - not sure of it was half price for one or if basic charge plus bit extra for second dog. BTW - I'm selling a dog crate if you need one!

My husband had to do this a couple of weeks ago to get his new visa issued but not heard of it for cancellation. Perhaps their logic is that by doing this you will no longer be their responsibility as you will be on a visit visa?

Did a tour to China a few years ago. I was a bit wary of going on organised tour as like to be independent but it was great. We did Beijing and Xian. Saw everything we wanted and more. Food great. Hotels clean and comfortable. Tour guide had studied in UK so her English was excellent. It was also very good value. There is no way we would have managed this tour on our own. We went with company in UK but I know you can speak to them and arrange to do flights yourself and join them for tour only. www.travelsphere.co.uk

Have a look at www.now-health.com We got AXA policy through them that offers better terms/ benefits than AXA direct. You can chose level of cover you want and policy is transferrable if you move.

I have used Desert Rose Tours (also called East Adventure Tours) a few years back and they were great. We did a number of tailor made tours with visiting friends and family and they were reasonably priced. However, the voucher in the Entertainer is for Desert Rock tours.

Contact Simon on 050 3855257. I think the company is Crystal Packing. We used them to move to our new villa and were very happy with them. They were recommended by friends who used them to move items they bought from Dubizzle, so they are happy with small jobs too.
