Can anyone tell me if the offer of 18,000AED a month for a construction supervisor is any good as we are not sure what the going rates are for over there. The offer also covers 30,000AED for school fees, which from my research shows this will not cover the school fees and 100,000 max for a villa. Please let us know as we were hoping for more on the wages side. Thanks. Hi, I think you can live here on 18000Dhs a month. As other ladies mentioned, you would struggle to find villa for 100,000dhs.There are many under that budget but it depends on area, size, etc. But you do not have to live in a villa. For 85000 dhs you can have 3 beds plus maids with terrace and still have 15000 dhs left to cover Dewa deposit and other costs. ( Dewa/emicool bills are much cheaper then villa)With deposit for housing, your Dhs company would defenitely help. Medical cover is important, but even if there is no direct billing with some clinics you get reimbursment claim form and get your money back up to 4 weeks later. re schooling-depends on your childs age, and school of course. 18000dhs maybe to many here isnt much but people live here on much less, have kids, etc and manage to live a good life. Maybe its worth your husband negotiating a little.Even company car for first few moths would help till you settle. Good luck and hope all works out well for you and your family whatever decision you make!

Hi there I think its work letting security at the gate know about the cat and leaving your contact info with them. And maybe putting up an ad in Le Marche. Hope you find owners soon.

Hi Kateh ii havent been to phuket, but we are flying there directly with etihad in 3 weeks time.we have 2 young dds, so i wanted a direct flight. anyway,i have done my research on internet and booked nice hotel with few pools, kids club, and its family friendly, away from all the nightlife hassle, 3 mins walk from the beach. i looked into other things we could do while we are there, and thought going to elephant sancturay, going by boat to see small islands would be nice thing to do apart from usual beach , pool time, markets etc. Phuket looks like a lovely place, its just few areas to stay away from: pataya, i think it said on trip advisor.so i suggest you can do resaerch on internet, loads and loads of good websites. Good luck

Take chill pill mamasrock! it is a public forum! People will cast their jugment, and write opinions-negative or positive.Weather you like it or not! Its not nice what has happened to you, maybe everyone react differently to botox. Maybe doctors should a test first and wait a week to see if there is any reaction. Loads of people had bad reactions to hair dye yet it does say on a box to do a test first. Anyway,i will keep posting my opinions regardless what you think cos I can and Im entilted to!

Mamasrock, i think you should take it up with your 'reptable dermatologist in Dubai'! Or maybe was he the cosmetic suregon, was it, dr.Mike or something, who operated on women on a kitchen table in his rented villa in Al Barsha. To be honest, before any cosmetic prosdure, patient should seek all information regarding it as well as being informed by their doctor! Didnt you ask the doctor about negative side efects yourself?!

Fairly new to Dubai and would like to buy a mattress from PB but I'm thinking of hanging on for their sale. Does anyone know if they have sales at Christmas or New year and does it include mattresses and bed furniture? Hi AudreyFB,i usually get text messages from Poterry Barn when they've got the sale on. there was one few weeks ago. you can register with them at any of pb shops so you will get notified about the sales.

No we're in Newbridgehills 2, so it's not noise from Spinneys. I'm trying to get my husband to test the rubbish chute theory with him going up a few floors to throw some away and me staying in the apartment to listen for "the noise", but so far he's not going for it lol Marie I think it might be cars going over a ramp in a car park on second floor.noise does travel. I'm also in Newbridge 2 and know exactly the noise you mean. I had also initially blamed it on the neighbours upstairs, but it is far too regular, always the same two short bangs. I cant believe its the garbage chute though, as they are on the opposite side of the building from my apartment across the car park. If this is the case, then for the partments on the desert side the noise must be deafening!!!!:)

So great to hear some kind hearted people are trying to help this poor mite. By the way...if it is grey with a dark tail and blue eyes it could be a Siamese. There are lots of different color markings with Siamese and the photo you looked at could have been one of the darker breeds.....but there are lighter breeds which border on grey and blue eyes are a Siamese trait so could be the missing Siamese. Hope it finds a good forever home, bless it! Snowflake, the lady who took him to the vets said he looks like burmese(sp?) cross. but he might be siamese as well. Hopefully with this microchip number they will find his owners. Fingers crossed.

Update: Lovely people from our building took the cat to Blue Oasis Vets.It is a boy that has been nutered(sp?) He has a microchip but not registered there. They will ring around other vets tomorrow to try to find the owner. I have photo and microchip number if any one is interested. If they wont be able to find the owner I will kindly ask the lady who offered to take him in. Probably the cat was tortured, he had a burn on his mouth and is lipming on two paws. Again, many thanks for you offers to help and my lovely neighbours who took him to the vets. Let me know if you'd like to see the photo and microchip number. Thank you

Did you leave a message for feline friends? In my experience they are pretty good at phoning back. I would try them again, and if you don't get an answer, I would try to get her to the vet asap, the poor thing could be suffering :( Feline friends left the message on answering machine that they do not take any more stray cats, and i need to contact local vet. Unfortunately I dont drive and have bronictics, stuck at home with 2 kids so hopefully someone can come forward to take this cat to the vets. I scared the security guard will give it away to someone as he is asking everyone if they want a cat.

When I used to live in the ranches ( moved begining of this year to M.C) there is basically unspoken rule: the ones who want to participate in Trick or Treating would decorte their houses and leave the car port light on, so kids know where to go and which doors to knock on. Last year in Al Reem 1 we had loads and loads of kids trick or treting. It was absolutely great! So this year I took matters in my own hands, printed out posters, leaflets and lots of people came forward to join in treak or treating in our building. Maybe you could print big poster and put it by entrance to your community, where security is?this way everyone driving in can read it

Definatly not the fridge or the carpark, the noise is always from up above 100% garbage chute! I actually made DH stand outside bargabe room and listen and I was inside out apartament to check if its the same time.

Do you have any weird noises in your apartment? we've recently moved in and keep hearing what we initially thought was noise from the apartment upstairs, but we dont' think so anymore as it happens at all times of the day and night, exactly the same noise. It's like two bangs kind of noises, a bit like maybe a vent opening and closing or something?? sometimes its louder than others, but the actual noise is consistently the same. It's driving us bonkers, but how on earth do you explain it to maintenance and what do we do, get them to stand in the main bedroom for a while and wait for the noise!? lol Hi I live in Motor City and I know exacly what kind of noise you are describing! It was different times of day and night! It puzzled me for a while but DH explained its the rubbish chute!! People throw rubbish bags in the chute and noise travels in these buildings.HTH

Op, I know your intentions are good in wanting to help this girl as the agency hours are long and the pay not so great. However, how are the cleaning agencies to stay in business and give a good service to their customers if all the best workers are offered jobs like this. They must have gone to some expense to recruit and bring the girl over, get her visa etc. Not to be cynical, but maids are always on their best performance when they are looking for a better job. Actually, Arancher, this agency charger her! for coming to Dubai!!! Girl took a loan to pay for her own visa and flight!! The agency charges them even for water in their accomodation! She wasnt looking for a job, at all. i was the one who asked her all the questions and decided to help her with her blessing of course!
