As fas as opened kitchen is concerned my neighbour didnt like it ethier so she had plaster boards ( or whatever cheap fake walls are made of) put in and it closed up,problem solved.

Oh, I forgot there is costume shop in dragon mart maybe they will have something that can suit you. I didnt go inside so I'm not sure if they have tartan skirts. But if evertything fails maybe you could try: t-shirt with Scottish flag,or Scotland printed on it, a Scottish flag on your childs face painted( cheek), etc

Timberland are also really comfortable but can be quite expensive, try the Outlet Mall. BTW..... has anyone been to the Outlet Mall on Monday's when they are reputed to have Massive savings?? I think they call it their Market Day I think its called Half price Mondays and it was massive waste of time, as far as I'm concerned. The website gives long list of all the shops that participate in the offer, but in fact only few have 50 % disscount. i was really dissapointed, to be honest.

Hi suziegirl, Don't worry you and your kids will be fine. They will make loads of friens at school, as well in your compound or building where you'll be living.I know moving is really stressful, and you are worring about every small detail( at least i was:). Anyway in december loads of people go away for Christmas holiday so it tends to be a bit quiet, but as soon as school resumes everyone is back. My neighbours are a French family with 3 children, I will ask which school they attend to, maybe it the same as yours and if they are here in Dec. Please dont wotty, I reassure you everything will work out ok. Good luck

We had a maid from howdra for the last year and a bit, she was really sweet and we both trusted her (which i think is a good thing out here). My only concern was that she used to tell me awful things about the accommodation that Howdra had them in, no running water etc... so she was pleased when her contract ended last month and wasnt renued. I'll look up explore not heard of this company, has anyone got contacts handy ?? Hi they are based on SZR al Moosa tower 2 tel: 04 3587622

From personal experience I would go for Explorer. I was with them for over 2 years. All girls get paid Dhs 1000( i paid my maid extra dhs every Thu before day off). You just need to chose right person for you, tell them the criteria: age, experience, if she has experience with children, likes pets, knows how to cook, clean, etc. And even if it doesnt work out, you Explorer will change a maid for you. When it comes to Howadra, when I was enquiring I was met with rude attitude from the owner,so i decided to go against them. Good luck

I would actually give the friend a ring now and tell her what has happened, the money has gone missing from your purse in her house. Weather it was the kids or the maid that took it, this is a theft! Oh apr04, what are you saying then its one of her children?? It is a posibility, yes! We cannot assume its always maids, kid are up to mischief as well, you know!! I have been tolen from by, my best friends daughter who was 7 years old. First she stole my gold naklace, then she tried stealing my mobile phone ( it was an old mobile) but I caught her red handed!!

Hi, you can take cupboards out,no problem. But when you move out you have to put it back in to original layout. Many of my neighours have done so, they have dishwashers in the kitchen. I have mine installed in the laundry room( instead of the tumble dryer). I know loads of poeple in our building( in Motor City) that have had their rented apartaments painted, fake walls put in, etc. As long as you vacate the place it looks as when you moved in, there should be no problem. HTH

I would suggest going to get a professional help from a good and recommended hair dressers. I wouldnt risk doing it myself i case something goes wrong and your hair can get damaged.

Tweet, to be honest, apartaments are going quick( they just started letting out apartaments in building next to ours and people are moving in fast, as well as these bulding are new so people prefer brand new apartament) I do not drive, but dont feel isoleted at all ( as opposed to living in the ranches before), taxi trip to mall of emirates is only 15 min and Mirdif cc just 20 min, beach 20 min, besides plenty of cafes and shops,a walk away. You can keep in touch with your old friends and always make new:) Good luck in making decision.

Hi Tweet we moved to Motor City from the Ranches 4 months ago and loving it. We have got 3 bed plus maids in new building recently opened, no major issues so far ( if any, maintenance is ready on hand and respond very quickly). As for ac, its provided by emicool, now its hot and we use it more( im at home with 2 kids so its on constantly) bills are about 800-1000dhs a month with chilled water charges included. The company providing care of the area changed to Serve U, there is more security men about, garedns are kept realy nice, its clean. basically we like living here, walking distance from shops( spinnys, cafes, restaurant, medical clinic, etc) easy acces to all major roads. if you have any more questions, shoot. HTH

Would any of you let your teenage daughter 13 years old go in a taxi by her self? No, I wouldn't. Never in a million years. I have had so many scary experiances with taxi drivers, weather I was traveling alone, with my children or visitors. Now, I have a very good ,safe driver, when ever I need to go some where I just call him.

why not booking a pink taxi with female driver? just ask when you call RTA and remind it might take time to find one available as most are at the airport, but if you plan 30min to 1h ahead its doable. Personally i feel safer with women and they are more talkative :o) I decided to take a pink taxi after a night flight and no sleep (thanks to the drunken lady behind me): bad idea. [b'>Not only did I have to help with the luggage[/b'> but give directions too and ask her to drive faster... What did you expect? Body builder female driver to carry your heavy bags?

Welcome to the Ranches Betty. I live in Al Reem 1 and our bin colletion is on Sat Mon and Wed. Every bin sould have a bin liner, it is more hygenic and easier to the men to empty it. Next time when you see a blue rubbish truck, just nip outide and ask a collection bloke to empty your bin and put a new liner.

I've been to Magrudys Jumeirah toady. They are open as usual, although didn't have in stock few items. I went there 3 weeks ago to avoid the rush that is happening at the mo ( was very, very, busy today) and even then they didint have sizes and stuff we were after. They said: madam, too early, clothes are being made, come end of August. So we did, and guess what? no skirts in my dd's size, no PE kit in her size, and no hats. I was able to buy only couple of tops. They are ment to give me a ring as soon as the stuff arrives to the shop. For the same phone call I'm waiting since I went there first time round.
