If you are going to be venturing out of CT, check this out, this was fabulous too, and in a great location, just off Franschoek High Street. http://www.gablemanor.com/self-catering.htm Wish I was coming with you!!

We had a few nights here, it was lovely. Breakfast was fabulous. Restaurants/bars were a 10 mins walk away. It is on a bit of a hill though, so you will get some exercise. www.derwenthouse.co.za/hotel%20rooms. the only comment I would say is to ask them for their largest room, perhaps room no 9. The one we had was a bit small. They also have an apartment - check it out. edited by April Flower on 23/09/2011

I'm looking for somewhere too - got very dear friends coming over from the UK. It might be a case of ringing round but it is way too early.

Do a search on here - there's loads on id cards. From memory your husband has to do it himself, so no handing over of passpert. But there are occaions when he must hand his passport over, such as visa renewal, he needs to accep that. edited by April Flower on 14/09/2011 edited by April Flower on 14/09/2011

Have you identified a school(s) for your children yet? That should also be a priority as the new term looms, places maybe pretty thin on the ground now. Schooling fees are determined on the year your child is in at school.

We've done this too, we live in JBR. I'm not at home at the mo so can't check exactly. But the shower hose beside the loo has been taken off and that tap serves as the water inlet. Our water oulet hose is strapped to the basin tap. However, be careful if you are using the basin to take the water away, as depending on which cycle/temperature you use, your sink may overflow - this is first hand experience!!

2) SUIT YOURSELF, SIR 'In response to Xmas Baby [i'>'A well-dressed European asks you for directions. He claims he’s an Italian designer who’s in town for a garment exhibition and has some Armani or Gucci designer suits left over. They cost a fortune, but he offers to sell them at Dh200 apiece, sometimes even less as he’s in a hurry to fly back. He’ll even show you a passport, plane ticket (probably fakes) to prove his identity. The suits are cheap counterfeits, of course. But then, if you’re buying out of a trunk of a car you can’t expect anything better, can you? GOING ON SINCE: For at least six years with some variations. AREA OF OPERATION: Mostly around Bur Dubai and Deira.'[/i'> My DH was approached on Thurs in Ibn Batutta car park, complimenting how well he dressed, (Armani jeans, etc). The guy asked for directions to the airport, apparently he'd just come from a fashion thingy at Burj Khalifa. Hubby had just come from work not thinking staight, Burj Khalifa - airport - Ibn Batutta. Mmmm! DH said 'cheers mate, too warm in here' (car park) and walked off. DH kicked himself afterwards thinking he might've got a bargain but reading this, wel. Just as well it was roo warm in thar car park, DH is a sucker for Armani. Thank you for highlighting this.

I'd second Cyprus - Four Seasons in Limassol - you don't say if you have children or not, bit either way it has good family facilities and a 'no children pool'. Eating in the hotel is pricey but there's lots of tavernas on the doorstep. NB just to advise you, their beach isn't golden like Dubai! I forgot the link: http://www.fourseasons.com/?source=gaw09cxbrS19&kw=four+seasons&KW_ID=P3773113&creative=6801986464&gclid=CLGH8tutwqkCFQ0KfAodLRDFUw edited by April Flower on 19/06/2011

Vu in Emirates Tower offer, is what I'd call a 'sophisticated' brunch. We've done most of the venues mentioned below. Vu's concept is they serve a set menu, six, if I remember rightly(!) everything is plated for you. You don't have to get out of your seat, except to go to the bathroom. They have a limited number of tables. it's not too busy. Two guys sing/play background(ish) music. The staff are very attentive, there's a view towards Jumeirah from the 50th floor, give it a try, we'll definitely give it another go. And the bottles of white/rose/sparkling were kept in the ice bucket by our table!

There's tons of info on-line you can get, and especially as the laws here are quite complicated, you would want to get it right, wouldn't you? Gulf News has a legal, eagle: http://gulfnews.com/uaessentials/ask-the-law. And I'm quite sure, if I had a draft/template, I wouldn't want to hand it over as it would be against company policy to let someone else plagiarise it.

We live in JBR - helicopters come and go all the time in and out of Sky Dubai. And today it's more prevalent with the boat racing. Scaremongering I think.

exit off Junction 32. I think you need to follow signs for Al Soufouh. (You are heading towards the Westin Mina Seyahi). Turn left at the traffic lights. Go over the bridge. Marriott Harbour/Grosvenor will be on your left. Take the first service road turn on your right. Parking 1 should get you into Murjan 4 car park - I hope! Good luck.
