Hi there, I came across a Groupon voucher for spa treatment at 'Emirates Plaza Hotel' in Abu Dhabi however upon perusing online for further info, looking at reviews it looks rather questionable. There seems to be no mention of a 'spa' at this hotel anywhere particularly on their website. And the reviews of the stay at the hotel are especially negative particularly on the 'reputation it has'. I was wondering and hoping someone here has been to the spa and can offer a review of it or can provide some insight as to whether there is indeed a spa? I have also looked into Howard Johnson hotel in Abu Dhabi however came across the same roadblock, no info about the spa or any reviews on it. So if anyone has been there, please provide some insight. Thank you Avoid both hotels. They have a reputation for being in the "Shady" business.

Hi all, I'm new to this forum as I'm planning the move from the US to Sharjah in a couple of months. Very excited, and also stressed! We need to arrange our own relocation, and am trying to find reliable movers locally to help unload the shipping container. Anyone has recommendations? You could speak to GAC. Not sure if they assist in unloading only, but they have a very good reputation here.

Hi, I need Flukit syrup for my child and tablets for my elder daughter. I am unable to find any substitute of this medicine. If you know any other medicine same like Flukit, please let me know. My youngest scratched her nose by rubbing with tissues. I searched a lot in Stockholm and Karlstad but no success Please help. Call 1177 (sweden) and they can advise alternatives that are available within the country.

Hi i am 27 year old married having 2 daughters 4yrs and 2 yrs working as a nursery teacher since last 8 months. My husband always sends me to india coz of financial crisis. This time he wants to me to leave my job and go to India and stay for 2 years. He has been having an affair since last 2 years but he says it's not now. We are on the verge of getting separated. He does not want to do the procedures in uae and he wants to do it in my home country india. I want to know what would be best for me and my kids. He is going to take me India this weekend and we r gonna decide in front of our parents. I'm sorry you have to go through this. My best advise would be to speak to your current employer and see if they can sponsor you and your kids. Having done that, I would suggest going ahead with the separation / divorce proceeding in India and not in UAE as it can get tricky and complicated and Husbands can get full custody of the kids. If you choose to go down the counseling route, still speak to your employer about sponsoring you (if they have not) and keep your bank accounts separate. Stay strong.

Honestly, if she could hit your child in front of you, imagine what she could have been doing behind your back. This lady needs to be reported to the police and not be given the all clear and sent home. Yes she had children, you are saving those children from being abused physically. It's is your duty to call the cops on her. I can't even think of what her own kids have to go through when she is around.

Hi I am moving to Dubai from Sharjah next month, I was wondering if you can easily get bread/bakers flour in Dubai. I have a bread maker and make my own bread/croissants/buns etc here, my husband and kids don't like eating store bought bread products anymore. Thanks Spinneys and Waitrose sell bread flour. I buy from Spinneys. Or you could just buy a high protein flour which is all that's required.

The new laws are in Dubai too. A new license is also required by June. This law regarding licenses are for other emirates as Dubai has alway had a pet registration rule which we have been renewing yearly. I spoke to our vets who said the same and others contacted DM, who said it's just registration along with annual vaccinations. Whats good is, they are making it mandatory to vaccinate now so, pet owners can breath easier when they meet another pet or are at the groomers.

Seasand, could you share the source of this please. I honestly would like to see a law where parents and children are held responsible for abusing and torturing dogs, cats and animals in general. I am tired of no action taken on these types of people who are raising the next generation. Also, more dog friendly apartments as not everyone can afford villas. How about regulating pet shops from selling animals instead of just banning them from residential apartments.

Yep! same thing with us, however our cards mysteriously started working again. The guys at the branch office say nothing was wrong and all our account info was as normal on their systems, they feel it was a system glitch. Have not checked today, hope we see our cards :)

Oh yes, I've recently gone through this too. Honestly, I thought we were selling for a lower price at first but my asking price made sense and the callers did not make much sense. I later came to know that most callers were dealers who strip the televisions for parts which they use while repairing broken down TV's as original manufacturer parts are expensive and hard to come by. I would suggest, using FB groups for your electronics as it does weed out the dealers who are really annoying.

Advertising is not allowed. But as you have recommended them, I have to say they are no good. Expensive for very bad cleaners who break your expensive appliances and then talk back at you when questioned or asked to do their job properly which you are paying for. Total nightmare.

Best place to offer you advice, would be your local embassy / consulate here. They would have a list of recommended legal experts here if need be.

Hi all, anyone has recommendations for counselors or psychologists in Dubai? Preferably someone with a 'Western' approach. Thanks in advance! German Neuroscience Center has very very good psychologist. I can recommend Christina.

Hello, I just moved to Dubai for the States in December. I am here on my own and the work at my company is not the environment I expected. I have a chronic history of depression and anxiety and am on medication, however since coming here the stress of a new place and my work environment has made it all very worse. Does anyone know of any community support groups for anxiety and depression? I tried the German Neuroscience center and they dont have them anymore. I do not have much money so hence why I am looking for a support group rather than one on one sessions. Thanks! There are a few groups that organise meet ups to support each other. http://www.meetup.com/anxiety-depression-self-help-meetup/ Do a search on meetup, also, I've heard that the Human Relations institute at jlt organise support groups, however only after screening and professional sessions. Simething to look into, online support groups, run by professional psychiatristic and psychologist which are available 24x7. Wish you all the best in your transition to this country.

We used it and we got fed up at how it never worked and the customer service was horrible. After over 1 month of complaining and deleting the app, they call and then transfer us to another deptartment which transfers us again and then as expected, they disconnect. They are a joke.

Veganprincess, your welcome :) Al badrah may not be as noisy as Furjan, but there is construction noise 24x7. I believe only for x'mas there was a holiday and no work but every day they work round the clock with awfully loud noises and the sound proofing is rubbish. Made in Sheffield, you dodged a bullet here :) Agents in Al Badrah cannot be trusted as they are lying and overselling this place, when the reality is completely different. Sadly, we are at the mercy of the useless agents as most LL's are not interested in dealing with renters directly. Hopefully one day this will change, till then, all we can do is bang our head every time we have to deal with them

Sorry to be resurrecting an old thread. We're considering looking at this area-we're currently just up the road in Furjan but need to move by the first week of March. Can anyone tell us if there are buses/feeder buses available to the nearest metro? We don't drive so transport is an issue. TIA! :rainbow: Al Badrah or Veneto? Both communities do not have feeder buses / bus to anywhere. That said, can't speak of Veneto but we just moved to Badrah about 3 months back and it's a nightmare. The villa's and apartments are poorly constructed. Sadly it has already become 50% like International City. Laborers and Business women have taken over the villas and apartments and security just take a blind eye. Security is useless and after midnight anyone can enter the community. There are no pools or shops, a handful of restaurants deliver. Will not be renewing end of this year.

Speak to a lawyer based in dubai. You should also setup a will specifically designed for UAE as without a will, shariah law is implemented in case either spouse dies.

Ask for a copy of the trade license and ask to see your maids visa. Her visa sponsor should match the company's name on the trade license. If not then you know what you need to do.
