Try looking in Bousher and Muna. It's a newer developing area and modern housing.

Haberdashery....all the yarns/threads/buttons/zips/needles/pins/hooks/you name it...all in one shop :) Good luck. Oh, wonderful! Now I am really excited. I have been looking for these type of stores. Reminds me of the stores in Downtown Jordan. Thanks again!

There is a yahoo group called Sisters in Amman. The ladies there are very helpful and you may find some of your answers in the archives. There are many American women married to Jordanians and have lived there for 30 years or more. I just moved out of Jordan in November to Muscat,Oman. I lived in Amman for 13 years. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Best of luck!

Thank you so much, arohadxb! I will surely adventure out into that area in Qurum. I went to Sabco center once, so I am somewhat familiar with the area. Can you tell me what is 'haberdashery'? Thanks for the liftoff.. looking forward to my new findings in Muscat!!

I'm not sure just who Jo Anne fabrics is, but I can tell you that the selection of fabrics, edcetera, far exceeds whats available in the likes of Dubai. Muscat is a crafters/sewers/knitters heaven in comparison. Have you just arrived in Muscat? What you need is someone to show you the ropes. You will not find everything in one area, one mall, one center. We have a whole area of *town* that is a souk for plants. There are many souk centers, any one of which will have more fabric and haberdashery shops than you could possible want. That is great news that Muscat provides materials for crafters. I am new to Muscat and need to find out where to get yarn (I do simple crochet), DMC thread, etc. I just need to know what store and where to find it,then I can locate it myself. I am finding it difficult to find current information on the internet. I've seen postings about yarn stores from 2009.. So yes, I need a little push. :) Any advice would be extremely helpful.

I don't have any knowledge regarding Horizon Gym in Qurum but perhaps you would be interested in attending a new club located in Al Lansab that can be reached in 10 minutes on the Expressway from Qurum. Its a family run studio and is called Art of Life Centre. You can find them on facebook. There are no membership fees, you just pay for a book of tickets and thats it. Studies show that those who excercise in a group get approx 30% more out of their excercise, and all the more so if its done to music. Is this a "women only" gym? It it is, I would be interested. How much do the book of tickets run?

Hi there! I have been in Muscat since November. I was living close to the Wave and my kids school is close to Qurum. My husband had to leave our place at 630am to get the kids to school by 8am. It would take him and hour and in some morning 75 minutes total. It got really tiring. I love the Wave area since it is right at the beach but the drive was not worth it to us. I currently live just 10 minutes drive to the kids school and right off of the Expressway. I was fortunate and found [b'>Lena from Betterhomes[/b'>. She was active and attentive to finding me a place. She always was punctual and remained in contact with me. I recommend her highly. We did not pay any fees to her or to Betterhomes. Their fees are paid by the landlord. She was professional and pleasant to be with. Here is her number: [b'>968-921-90-709[/b'>. Tell her that she was recommended by Joanna. I noticed too during my search for semi-villas that they do go fast. But there is so much building going on now that something always comes up. Best of luck!
