Hmm from 36 weeks I went to fortnightly but then ds was born on the 38th week the day after I saw her. If I had still been carrying at 38 then she said we would go to weekly aptmts. Ed to add: as with jag, my pregnancy was easy, no complications so always 4-6 week check ups until I was 36wks. edited by AussiePup on 10/10/2011

Awesome. Cracking up. Only way I can get ds through shopping is with food so always take something, recently discovered his love of those ginger biscuits from ikea... Have stocked up ;) Was outside with ds he had just started walking so must be round 1st birthday. I had to turn stove down as dinner boiling over. I was all of 20 seconds to return to ds drinking like a dog on all fours out of the dogs water bowl. Ahhhh ha ha, gross!

I was back at the hospital 3am and ds was born at 8am. Wishing you all the best for it. With whatever happens, may your lo arrives safely and healthy. Xox

Had a check up today everything going well, nt scan the other week said I was a week ahead of where last scan said so due date 4th April but likely to be march if similar to ds as he came at 38 weeks. All good, 70% it's a boy but the little gitter bug was in the wrong position to have that confirmed today. Am very tired and emotional this week. Ds 16 mths is not sleeping between 1.30-4am each night, might be teeth but not sure. He won't go bk to sleep without me sitting in his room or in some instances he wants a cuddle but soon as I put him bk to bed he cries. It's exhausting and dh in Abu dhabi this week for a course, staying down there. Also have 3 assignments for uni... Nearly at the end of that the gdness! But just v tired an emotional this week. Had nothing like this hormone wise with ds, was easiest pg. edited by AussiePup on 09/10/2011

I had spray tans whilst pg last time and I've used them plus self tanner that I have at home, it is a wash off one, palmers do it, so you apply leave to dry for 20 mins or so then when you shower it washes off. The other use which I love is napoleon but not sure where to get it here. Dubaicat said she has some avon with moist with tan in it. I have this too but haven't used it yet, but she brought it back for me and swears by it. She has extra if you would like some. She can't get on here to reply at mo so asked me let you know. If you would like some send me an email on shareeness athotmail . Com

My son did something similar from 4 mths to approx 6.5 mths when his teeth were braking through. He woke 9pm to 4am every 40 minutes and we were shattered this would go on for 2-3 nights when a tooth would finally break even with teething powder, gel and Neurofen n panadol. It wasn't unitil I though sod it I'm buying a teething necklace and he has only ever woken max3 times in a night and usually that is the night it cuts through. On 4 of those cutting he hasn't woken at all, only thing diff is the necklace. Whilst it may not be teething yet for your lo, I would still consider the necklace for soon ;). Hope it gets better for you.

Unfortunately moving is not an option for us at the moment so I'm taking it as far as I can with RERA and what ever else I can do without having to move... ok so ovens fixed... lights work now A/C downstairs decides to blow hot instead of cold so whilst the guys came to fix the leaking toilet which we have since discovered is another cracked cistern (a new toilet now has to be ordered - 3rd one!) they fixed the A/C for me (phew - didnt take loads of texts and angry phone calls like when we first moved in)... and just as I went to check on them (using the balcony window to get up on the roof for A/C) I notice that there is water leaking out of the wall in the guest room! Seriously WTF? It is coming from the pipe that the wires for the du / telephone / tv connection would be. There was a a4 size puddle just as I walked passed which wet my feet and drew my attention to it. Like OMG!!! I can only laugh. The guys fixing the a/c have pulled the socket out of the wall and stuffed toilet tissued down it until it got dry, but still we do not know where the leak is coming from and therefore potentially an electrical risk and a huge job ripping up the tiles and into the wall to see where the leak is coming from. The guy I think seems to be asking me for money for doing that little piece of work - I don't understand him but perhaps that is what he is asking. Ahhhh no, it goes under the bill for everything you are doing today so when its all done and if its over 300 get the money from the LL not us! I am happy to give them a little tip but he hasn't actually fixed the problem and I only have 20 dirhams on me anyway!

does anyone know a good property lawyer? Since moving out of the villa that had the leak we believe that the LL has put new tenants in there with a higher rent so we are also taking this to RERA. Having said that, I called them just before we went to OZ and they fobbed me off saying this was not their issue??? And to call Dubai Municipality?

I had the NT scan this week after getting back from Oz. Seems as though the little "Been" (yes spelt correctly coz we are calling it "been there done that") given it is number 2 - LOL. Anyway, it seems as though "Been" has grown rather quickly since my last scan at 7 weeks. Dr Elsa put me at about 3 days later saying the baby was measuring small. Well now, that aint the case, I've now gone from being due 13th of April to 4th of April based on the size. Everything going well and baby was doing movements in line with 13 weeks instead of 11/12 weeks so the Doc at FMC wasn't concerned about the difference with the dates. Whilst in Oz the nausea went, back here now though - not sure if it is because of the smells here, but blahhhhh I feel awful again. :( Tiredness not as bad but still grabbing me at various points during the day. Yesterday I totally pigged out on pickled onions and gerkins, so much so that I polished off what we had left in the fridge and I went and bought more, plus some jalapeno's! mmmm they are going on Dinner tonight!!! :D Oh and 70% it is another boy apparently :D

our house is exactly the same BabyBezza. We even had Saniservices come and do a full clean and paid 4,500 AED for it because of the smell. It has got better, especially in our bedroom - I couldn't even walk in there at the start when we first moved in, but since then the room is much better. The top of the stairs and the loungerm we have upstairs is gross though and smells exactly how you describe and DH can't smell it. :( I actually put on my FB status yesterday "think with this sensitive pregnancy nose I should go work at the airport". LOL

I had a look in Dubai mall and moe but debehams aren't stocking Dorothy Perkins or forgotten other brand ... Doh anyway I loved their maternity section last time :( did get pair of jeans, top and dress from destination maternity which i needed for wedding and hens night when we go bk to oz nxt week. Loved some of the stuff in there but seriously, 750 add for a top???? Get real!!! Way out of my budget. Think I will do rest of shopping in oz given they are heading into summer. I am currently uk 14 I think, some of it is too big, some of it (from h&m esp) won't get over my thighs!!! The end stuff I had last time fits ok but coz I didn't have much I wore them so much they do look rather tattered. I also want to look nice. I am generally a bit more Tom boyish in what I wear. About the place but really not liking that much and wanting to jazz myself up a bit. See what oz has to offer :)

Hi All Just wanting some advice/help with an issue we had at our old villa. Before we moved we had some very high DEWA water bills. Turned out there was a leak in the pipes that run from the water meter to the house. Once the leak was identified our LL had it fixed the very next day, but unfortunately whilst that was all good getting it repaired quickly, we were severly out of pocket for it (for the 3 mths prior to us moving our water bills jumped from 1k to 6k, 9.5k, 14k AED). We forwarded all our water bills to our LL and he has since put in an insurance claim to get the money back... however they have rejected it saying it is due to either corroding pipes or faulty workmanship which they do not cover!.... so just wondering - has anyone else been through this, did you get any $ back and if so, what didi you do to get the $ back? TIA. ps. Our "hating our house" villa, has now had problems sorted - yes we've had to pay for some of them (the more expensive ones of course) but now the smells are gone and things are starting to feel better.

Bad toilet smell - we finally worked out there is no natural air ventilation in this house at all. So to get the vent to work in the downstairs toilet I have had to crack a window somewhere in the house and leave it open - not ideal in summer but it does give us a less stinky and functioning toilet downstairs as the lack of ventilation doesn't suck the water out of the toilet so fast and of course it is now pumping to outside instead of closing over (the vent because of pressure in the house). So less stinky house, downstairs toilet working, but have to keep a window open... ehh guess thats better than spending the $. We may still plug it up, going to see how we go. :) Hi there - we recently had a similar problem with smelling the sewerage in my DS bathroom. Of course, not sure if this is the same but worth a try. You know in each bathroom there is a drain in the ground which they cover with the silver metal round thing. Did the guys look down this drain pipe? This was where my problem was - when installing it, they literally left out a piece of pipe/joint and so there was an open gap/hole in the sewerage pipes. All it took was a piece to cover it, lock it in and we were done! It was a simple fix, but the guys at least knew where to look. It took them a while to figure it out, but they were persistent and found it. The water was flowing through OK, but of the cause the air kept coming back. It is NOT normal for you to need to keep the window open. His name is Jayan Josepf, from Al Neameyah, 050 527 4743 if you want him to come and take a look? In fact I told him about your problem when he was fixing mine. He and his team were very professional and they didn't give up until they found the problem. I would highly recommend them. Also, another thing, once they discovered the problem, and while they went searching for the missing piece and came back the next day, they siliconed up this drain pipe to reduce the smell - didn't fix it all, but maybe you could try this as well? I don't think you should accept their solution of opening the window - it is not possible. This means there are still septic smells enterign your house. You and pregnant, have young children and this is a health risk. Hang in there...don't accept any 2nd hand solution. Thx SuzyDuzy... we have found the actual problem and nah it isn't that drain. (see the other info I've posted on here tonight). If the ventilation works then the toilet works. So no sewage smell. two things that need to be fixed are the vents and the crack in the pipe that is about half way across the front living room. If both were fixed it would be awesome... just likely to cost in the vacinity of about 20k AED (10-12 for toilet) and guessing around 8 or more for the vent system. Eh, who knows. As mentioned we are still sending all through to the LL.

Hi aussie pup, You may want to try the following- for the wardrobe try putting a layer of cat litter in the damp area and leave it for 24 hours (soaks up the damp and absorbs the smell) then leave a bowl of granulated coffee and salt in the wardrobe(neutralizes the smell and absorbs dampness), you could also try bicarbonate of soda which will soak up any dampness if the problem hasn't gone away. Good luck! thx for the suggestions - we tried bicarb soda for a while for the toilet and that did help for about 3 hrs :) (before we worked out vents). Doh, wish I had this before they put the new skirting board back on the wardrobe... thats where most of the smell was coming from - very hard to get under there to clean it properly I imagine so guessing the smell is still from that which is now well and truly sealed off. Thinking about having a carpenter come out, take the wardrobe out and replace it completely... but sending suggestion to LL first.

How about fitting an extractor fan into the toilet window? Not ideal as it also pulls out cool air, but it may help with the smell... no window in the toilet. the way the villa is designed its like the toilet has just been put in some "storage" space area with no proper ventilation.

Houses should not be required to ventilate sewer smells. If sewer smell is getting into your house it a very bad thing and needs to be addressed. The "open window" solution is a cop out and them putting the onus on you to have to deal with it. (and pay for it through A/C running non stop to deal with an open window. We are still going to chase the issue of the toilet as it certainly isn't ideal. The real problem are cracks in the pipes of the toilet, which with little airflow is sucking the water straight out. With some airflow the water is staying in the bowl longer so the smell isn't coming that often. If it is, we check the exhaust fan and so far each time we have got a wiff of something nasty, sure enough the exhaust has closed over, it is just a matter of reassessing what natural air we have coming in. To get the exhaust working properly would be major work, as to run it to direct outside instead of the under stair storage room, would need actual builders to do as the concrete slabs in this place are too tough for any maintenance person to do and therefore probably $$$$$. We still have all our report we have put together plus the notes from the specalists we've had out to assess the place for the problems. This is all going to RERA, the agent and the LL. See where it gets us. ???

Dh also saw her and he had only been on vitamins for a few weeks and feeling such a big difference in himself and found out we were pg. I have remained on the same vitamins my naturpath prescribed and now pg with #2 and all going well. whilst most sites say yes in the long term the mould in the ducts is bad for health, a 1-2 week period is not so - but still I do not like it. The a/c is being cleaned on Sunday (YIPPEE). The smell from the toilet - I wish I could bottle and send to the LL and the agent and stink their places out!! However, since the specialist guy came out today, we found a couple of design errors (if you will) with the villa. The ventilation is meant to be high up, in most villas around here they are at ground / dirt / grass height. We then found that the exhaust fan for that bathroom goes into the under stair storage area (which we access from the back yard - not inside the house). We have opened the door to that and the smell was just as bad as inside the house. Since having that door open since he was here at 1pm, the smell has basically faded. I haven't dared opened the bathroom door again though. Also who ever wired the extractor fan in the bathroom needs to go back to electrical school because they've wired it around the wrong way, switch it on it is sucking air into the bathroom - hence the humidity and it being like a sauna it was only sucking in the hot air from that tiny understair storage room. So things are looking up. (I say with a bit of hope / glimmer). We have taken photos of everything and we have complied a novel almost about what has happened, how much things are costing us etc. we hope we can fight it and get some of our $ back at least. For when my friends arrive we are looking at doing a bookings.com deal or something at a hotel around here for the weekend and then a friend of mine heads to Oz on the 30th and has given me her key so we are going to park ourselves around there until the a/c is cleaned on sunday. Honestly ladies, we do not have the $ to move house otherwise I sure as heck would have already. DH's work has covered our rent here by a significant amount - more than he was originally given in his allowance when he joined them so they have already come to the party with quite a bit to which we are very grateful. We will see how things go next week, if toilet still smelly after we've blocked it off and A/C still stink after cleaning we will reconsider our strategy and speak with DH's work to see if they can help us in anyway. Thanks so much for your support xox

Maintenance men have left. They replaced the toilet (in our master bedroom) or so I thought, until just a few mins ago. He called me in and said they have to leave it off for the day until tomorrow morning because of the smell, they have put some chemical down it and if they put the toilet straight back on then the smell will continue so they have left it off and are meant to come back tomorrow. My husbands words "F*****'s better come back!" I've taken photos to add to the portfolio of everything wrong. They fixed the other cupboards in the kitchen today too - but that was just cosmetic, not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. Ahhhhhh. So tried calling DM and just rang out. Guess will be hard to get anything done over EID so I continue to build the case and do what we need to do for now for us to live happily in this place and then take the case as far as I can. We did the sums the other night and not worth moving. If we can get things fixed even for the 10-12k pipes (not that we will, we'll be doing the quick fix and sending the report to the LL for the bigger expense), plus having the AC cleaned then its still cheaper for us to stay here.

Can I ask why you rented a villa that’s in such a horrendous state? as Princess_I said, yes we had to make a rash / hurried decision. We didn't know about the A/C or the toilet though until we moved in and started using it. The hot water tank, rotting wardobes etc were things that were suppose to have been fixed before we moved in but they didn't do it and now we have had to fight to get it done.

OK so SaniServices showed the photos, are going away to put the package together and the earliest I can probably get the house done is next week. So in the meantime, I'll be discussing things with DH and perhaps going to stay at a friends house or an apartment for the week. We have friends arriving from Oz on Thursday for 1 week too, so trying to work out what to do about all of that and where to stay. I'm calling the Health Department and Municipality. I tried municipality earlier today and it rung out but I had a direct number, no the toll free number below Princess_I has given. Will get onto that shortly. As for an update, toilet specialist man came - to fix the issues 10-12k - cracked pipes, and also need better ventilation in the toilet. Cheapest option which will also fix the smell plug up the toilet and don't use it. Cost approx 500 AED. No smell and then we keep fit going to the toilet upstairs which there are 3 of so no shortage. The maintenance men are still here - doing what - god only knows. They have had the door shut in the guest room since they got here earlier today, sawing things and what ever else. The sheets and quilt on the bed are probably full of saw dust now - might send the agent the fee for the dry cleaning of the quilt too! LOL. (I say with an evil, i've lost the plot laugh). They have taken the cistern of the toilet in the master bedroom - dunno when they are bringing a new one back. And thats where we are at right now at this 2 o'clock hr.
