eeeek... perhaps they have!? We have been having Chimes almost fortnightly if not weekly and I have noticed quite a change in service and in the taste of the dishes. I generally always get the Penang Kai (chicken curry dish)... OMG it is the best, but last time I got something else and hardly ate any of it.... then one time i ordered veggies they brought me the wrong dish and then when he brought me the right one back, he shouldn't have even bothered - there was hardly any broccoli in it (which is what I ordered) and was totally gross. :(

yeah I've left ours on... I had concerns at the start but after doing a bit of research and finding out if other friends left theirs on we decided to leave his on too... I don't really know that it works... still debating this. Dr laughed at me when he saw it on DS last week. ha ha ha. The part that joins it together if there is too hard pressure on it, it should just snap.

I use alternate weights Rocketeer... dunno what they are - small! 3lbs for the shoulder exercises but about 3kgs for back / Rows / chest exercises... my shoulder strength is very very very very ... did I say very poor. :) I love the lunges but the arm raises with them - errrrm... not a fan.

is erpc an ectopic pregnancy? Sorry not up with all the lingo. took me ages to work out DD, DS and DH! LOL. I had an ectopic if this is what you are referring to and I was able to start exercise (lightly) after 3 weeks... however I did feel it. I use to run a lot but after the ectopic it took about 3 weeks before I was back to running normally. Between weeks 3-5 after the op I could feel the pressure on my tummy. I still trained with a trainer doing light weights and gentle exercise though.

Congrats on moving over here Glowkat. It will be awfully hot when you get here if you haven't ever been here before... and being pregnant during summer ain't all that much fun! But everything is airconditioned well so you should be right ;) Just be sure to carry a water bottle with you when you go out so you don't dehydrate. I had my LO at City hospital and loved it. he was in NICU too and that was all good. Dr Yula? is meant to be very good ... Dr Elsa is awesome but she is one very busy Obst/gyn so if you wanted to book with her I suggest you ring now and try to make an appointment for when you move here. Dr Salihi is also lovely, she is based on Al Wasal Road and delivers at American. 2 friends delivered their babies at American and are going back there with their 2nds ... they were very happy with the hospital. I think they have also had a new maternity area built too (need that confirmed though?) As for your health insurance there was no waiting period from what I know of. We moved in March 2009 and I fell prengnant in October that year and everything was covered. Only thing that wasnt was DH in NICU and that was only because he didn't have a health insurance card yet. We just paid it and then claimed it back. I totally hear you re starting over in a new place = especially when pregnant but they have very good facilities at either hospital and there are plenty of good obsts around - if you search on here there will be loads of threads about who to go with. All the best with the move!

thx ladies. she is truly wonderful our maid and I am loving having her as I am studying full time. So far she has only had to look after him a few times when assignments have been due but other than that she is here to mostly do the house work. I have racked my brain at giving her other things to do to occupy her! I know that this time is important in infants lives with attachment (currently studying psychology) so I suppose because of my reading in all this area I have got myself a little worked up. I am working with my maid regarding dicipline, he has tried to bite her just yesterday apparently so I am now going through the process of letting her know how I would like her to deal with situations such as that. Thank you so much for your replies. Think I'm just having a tender mummy moment! :D xox

I haven't read everyone else's replies LP but when have you started the solids - is it night time or day time? DS struggled really bad with wind pain when we introduced solids for dinner and we were only giving him the plain rice cereal suitable from 4 mths... I changed it to mornings and that helped somewhat and then when we went to all 3 meals a day + deserts I was giving him yoghurt at dinner time and this just doesn't work for him, bloats and gives him wind so I've now changed that to his lunch time desert and I give DS fruit or custard for desert at dinner time. We also used gripe water and infacol pretty much up until 6 mths with his night time bottle and dream feed. I still use gripe water if he wakes 1 hr after going to bed with wind. But this has been better the past 3 nights when I haven't given him yoghurt at night time. The Lactose can certainly bloat them and make them uncomfrotable even if they are tollerant of it.

hi summertime, perhaps let your DS play with the food as HK mentioned. I found when DS would go through periods of not wanting to eat I'd put some of the food on the high chair table for him to play with - he loved it and then in between him either trying to feed himself or playing with it he'd actually let me get some spoonfulls in too. Another friend of mine had major troubles with her son trying to get him to eat solids so she mixed in with his bottle (veggies and fruit would go in) and used a wider hole teet. He was about 8 months before he decided to start feeding himself and has never liked to be fed by someone else, went from having it in the bottle to feeding himself. A good way to get babies to eat is to eat with them so perhaps if you aren't already, have your breakfast / lunch / dinner when he is having his. I find this works really well with DS. He eats much more at breakfast and lunch as I eat with him than he does at dinner time when I'm not eating with him (because I've never been organised enough to have ours ready by 5.30). HTH. Hope he eats plenty for you soon ;)

DS always gets a nappy rash for a couple of days when I change the brand of nappies we use. I generally use pampers sensitive (they are the only ones that held the poo explosions without leakage) and sometimes I go to huggies but each time i've changed to any brand he gets a red bottom and pimple like spots around his tummy. I have tried 4 different nappy rash creams and found the sudocream to work the best for us. I hope it clears up for your LO soon :(

ashc - how old is your LO? I take DS with me to training. I train with a group of mums with Urban energy (who advertise through EW) who offer pre and post natal classes and the reason I train with them (apart from liking the trainers and the training style) is because I can take DS with me. The LO's are varied in age, some of the older ones like my son is 10 mths old and crawling but when they all get together on the mat they just play with each others toys and 90% of the time really well behave and not in our way or upset with anything so we get a good work out and they get to play. Other option to add to Forever 21's reply is a hulla hoop! Do that for 5 mins a day and it will help to start toning your butt and waist.

Maple do you like or can you swim? Swimming can be tough at first I was the worlds worst swimmer and had my husband actually teach me, then I did a small triathlon and trained with a group who were running it and they too helped me with swimming. It will help open up your airways, help you feel stronger and fitter and as you do start to feel this the chocolate will naturally go by the way side (not completely away) but you may not feel like you want it anymore with feeling fitter. Other good non-impact / starting off is to use the olyptical trainer / cross trainer at a gym or perhaps you can hire one or buy a cheap one off of dubizzle. I so need to put a big giant padlock on our treats cupboard and throw away the key! :D

I have had a 3 day break after both me and my 10 mth old DS got loaded with a cold. Back on the bandwagon tomorrow though. I miss it. I did the shred on Thursday and also managed a run thinking I was feeling better (a small run of about 1.5km) but friday I woke up so much worse :( I use to be able to do that when I was feeling a cold coming on and it would help me sweat it out and I'd be fine the next day... I wasn't expecting to feel like I did (like a truck had hit me) on Friday... oh body get back into it!!! Blah!!!! I'm weighing 79.4kgs at the moment. No weight lost but before Friday I felt fitter and was starting to feel the toning. Level 1 and it makes me at about day 8 of it I think (don't do it the day I train with a trainer which is twice a week) for me.

My 9 mth old DS was like this a bit when we were in Oz, I ended up putting a t-shirt I had been wearing the day before in the cot with him. It helped him settle really quickly and when he was settled I moved it out so he couldn't get tangled with it. Alternatively if she has a attachment blankie that you have been using, stuff it down your top for a few hours or sleep with it tonight and hopefully tomorrow she takes to it and sleeps better.

Question to those who also go to the gym and or train with a trainer once or a couple of times a week - Do you guys do the shred even if you have trained already that day or do you skip it?

I think I have decided that 'knowing how much they should sleep' is really not a good thing to know because then you have an expectation of it and sometimes it aint going to work that way! Cecile said to me at one point that children up until 4 years of age should still be having between 2-4 hrs a sleep a day. How many parents have experienced a child over 1 year of age + still sleeping between that is beyond me as all of my friends say their kids went down to only 1 nap a day for a period of 2 hrs no more from about the time they were 1 year old. I sooooooooooo want the 4 hrs still (at least until he goes to school!) LOL - hmmm what do you think our chances are DC? LMAO. Buckleys and none are my thoughts. Blah!

haven't flown eithad but have done qantas and emirates and not had a problem with either airline. We took water in bottles as well as a full tin of the powder... we also had pre-made forumla when we did the UK and was only asked as we were leaving the UK to open and taste 1 of the 6 premade cartons I had on me. You should be completely fine... if you are worried however, please give the airline a call to check.

Ás you know, we're in the same boat... maybe it is the change of season? Its driving me nutty getting up before 6.30. Before I use to get grumpy at before 7am wake ups and it has slowly gotten earlier and I got use to the 6.30 and was ok with it ... then since we've been back from Oz it's 5.30-6.10 most wake ups now. I hear ya, I so hear ya. :( I've done my sleep diary for Cecile and sending it off to her shortly. Although that was mostly done because of the 2-6 times a night wakes ups... pretty sure that was teeth but we're still getting about 2 wake ups a night. One grumpy b*atch right here :D

no issues taking in formula to Oz or leaving with it in the bags. if you have the pre-made stuff they may ask you like they do in the UK, to open and taste one of them, if you have bottles and a can of the formula (like we did this time around - small can) then we didn't get asked anything about it at all. The lady in Customs in Oz even said to me "its easy when you have a baby" to get through customs etc. LOL. I found that rather amusing. Even DH came back to Oz to meet us and he brought me more forumla (as they dont have aptimal in Oz) and he had no issues carrying the tin (with no baby) either. all will be good hun. edited to add: no issues with jars or sachets of baby food taking into or out of Oz either. edited by AussiePup on 16/04/2011

i study full time ashc but my LO is only 10 mths (nearly) he isn't the best sleeper though so day time is almost impossible for me to get any study done. i do most of mine at night time. It has been really difficult. We are however getting a full time maid soon to help around the house (DH travels a bit for work so there are few times I feel like im in single mum mode). Just having someone else to look after the house hold duties I think will help us greatly (because I like it to be tidy)... at least then when the LO does sleep I can get to do some study instead of worry about the washing or the house. It is really important for socialisation too so if you can get her into a nursery even though she may struggle (or you both may struggle) at the start, it will be much better for the both of you in the long run. Good luck and congrats on starting up your own business!

it is purely your decision. We decided to do it because DH is and didn't want our son to feel like he isn't the same / is different from daddy. Plus I felt it was cleaner also, even though research has been done to say it isnt necessary for health/hyg reasons. Re hurting... DS was completely fine - we had him done 1 month after he was born. He did not show any signs of pain or discomfort except for when the gauze was being taken off (they used the most stickiest stuff ever and we ended up back in City hospital having the emergency doctor help us) - after the dr who performed the proceedure told me to "just pull it off"... now THAT would have hurt him. But other than this as I said, he showed no signs of discomfort. An ex boyfriend of mine got his done when he was 21. He said it was uncomfortable and sore, but nothing that a bit of nurse attention and some panadol didn't fix ;) This is really a personal decision so best discuss with your husband and do what you feel is the right choice for your son. Good luck.

We have a 17month old dd and I have flown heaps of times (mostly with Emirates) and taken Hipp Organic jars and Ella's Kitchen sachets and have never had any issues. Have a great holiday! I did this too Shelly. Just took either Hipp Organic or Ella's kitchen sache's - that way I could squeeze it in his mouth without having to really use any utensils either. I've found the last 4 flights with Emirates they generally only have Veggie mix or Banana in Hero - never gotten a choice of anything more so I take my own. Happy travels. xox

We tried solids at dinner time start and then lunch time and neither worked well for DS's tummy... he was the same - waking quite often during the night with wind. I then changed it completely and started him on solids in the morning for breakfast instead - that way he had the whole day to get rid of the wind before bed time and gradually increased qty and then introduced lunch about 2 weeks later, then dinner about 3 weeks later. For dinner now I give him veggies and carb - so some pasta as it helps to keep him fuller for longer. At lunch time it is protien (turkey, chicken, beef, lamb - any of these) with veggies. Breakfast is still the cereal mixed with puree'd fruit. His wind is getting better as he is getting older. but there are still some foods such as spinich I still can not give him (9 mths old) as it is too harsh on his belly. We went and saw Cecile de Scally too as DS was a terrible sleeper. She has helped soooooooooooooooo much - worth every penny if you would like to go talk to someone face to face... she's your lady!

Our LO was in NICU for 5 days in City hospital and the bill was approx 24,000 aed which we had to pay before leaving the hospital. If our insurance had been worked out for him before we had left then we wouldn't have paid any of it but we had to pay and claim back. If you can get your insurance sorted for the girls ASAP that may help. Good luck.

Hi Emily The first time I took every feed from at the airport to take off, landing and then the other end. I carried the water with me separated out in each bottle. This trip I fed the LO before we left the house then took 2 bottles only filled already and then just washed them on the plane and re-filled with the planes boiled water. LO was fine with it. edited to add: The bag gets bloomin heavy when you take 5 bottles already full. LOL. edited by AussiePup on 23/03/2011

My husband has just said no they (the neighbours) visa is not being cancelled as yet because the man has work to do in Dubai and will be returning here on and off until the end of the year. They are moving now though because of end of school term and their children will start school in the UK with the new term. As for the maid... she is still working for them until they leave which is about the 8th of April, but they all had to get out of the Villa by the 1st of April - we said that she could move her stuff over and stay at the house but still continue to work for them because we aren't back from Oz until the 5th of April anyway. My husband has e-mailed to say he will let her move her stuff in but she isn't allowed to stay there until we get home - she has a sister she may be able to stay with at night time if the neighbours dont have room for her where they are going for their last week. Then when we get back I can discuss with her the whole canada thing and then tell her that she either commits for a year or she needs to leave. <sigh>

i guess i just wanted to check that a) it is illegal for her to work for us whilst under the other family's visa even though it is valid until October... and b) we really like her, she was perfect for us and now I don't know if we should even let her use the room until she does move - IF she does move to Canada. I don't know that she will have anywhere to go if we tell her she cant move in.

We also take Fenistil and Infant Panadol or Nuroefen with us on the plane and we have not had any issues at all on any flights. only place we got asked anything was coming back to Dubai out of UK and I had to open a pre-made carton of formula and have a sip of it.
