We interviewed a couple filipino maids/nanny's, but after we read on the goverment site that a filipino maid should be 30 and older for you to be able to sponsor her. Is this correct and does anybody have any experience with this. Most of the maids/nannies that came for interviews are in their late 20's.

Hello.Again.Kitty - I did post earlier on that my 3 month old is not taking to the breast well due to projectile reflux. He is on medication to control the acid. He has not been on the breast for a very long time now and is very use to the bottle. Now and then i will put him on the breast and at times he takes it well and at times he screams and pulls off. When he is on he def. takes to the left breast more than to the right for some reason. That being said - when I express, the left breast does produce more milk than the right. It has been an ongoing battle from breast to bottle back to breast and ended up on being just bottle. I also went to a lactation consultant. Latching on is def no problem as he latches on perfectly - but after a few seconds he will pull off screaming and obviously hurting me. When Lactation consultant saw this she said that its def breast refusal and that latching is perfect for the few seconds that it lasts. It looks more like he is in pain due to the reflux. She did recommend i try to sit him on my leg, face me and then latch him - but not only was this VERY uncomfrtable for both of us, he just did not latch on well in this position so we did not continue it. I have been trying breast every time before i give him a bottle and he is just not interested most of the times. Of course I would love to put him back on the breast!!! He sleeps most nights through to about 6, but when he does wake i put him to the breast and he is normally fine then - but i think he is so tired still he does not mind. During the day he will just scream. Putting him back on the breast will be so so so much easier in all aspects. If you can give me ANY advise i will def appreciate it. I have been trying again the last 2 days - not succeeding. Also he wants more than what im producing and I just dont seem to be getting more. I know that 120ml sounds like alot but when you have a hungry baby that wants to eat 180ml every 3 hr then its not (Sometimes i have to warm another bottle for him as the 120 was def not enough - Emotionally im shattered but Im not about to give up! LOl I keep saying: Ok so today will be the last day. But it never is..... LOL Like i said - I will speak to my Dr again in 2 weeks and see what he says. If it does not work then we will go to formula and i will know that i have at least tried my best No i have the avent electric pump. The thing is that i dont want to buy another pump which will cost me a fortune and then it does not work. And also i will only use it for a few months. My time - LOL - having a Maid really helps alot and also having a trampoline inside during summer is a BIG winner as my daughter loves jumping with all her stuffed toys while mummy pumps! Mostly I pump when he sleeps. Luckily my daughter also sleeps for 3 hr during the day so then I can get another pump in! We have a good little routine going now. I just need more milk :-)

Yes you are right about why take it with all the other stuff - it says on the bottle that you can take it alone but i think the mixture is more about getting fluids into your body and when you so tired you forget to drink. It sounds like alot of juice but considering its over a period of 24hours 3L is acctually not that much. The fenugreek you are only allowed to take 2 tablets 3 times a day - I did it and it did nothing for me. Muu - I have the breastfeeding tea but you have to drink between 3 - 5 cups a day if im correct? Is this the hipp organic one? Do you put lemon in it then? I think the tea is acctually very nice. I like the taste of it :-). I am currently exprssing 120ml 4 - 5 times a day. Im trying to increase it by expressing more but this is not working. I know you have to express every 2 - 3 hours and no longer than 30 min. And to increase it you have to do it for 48hr. Right now im expressing for 20 - 25 min. Having a 2 yr old and a 3 month old is hard work on its own, so expressing takes alot out of me and Im sure allot of other mommy's out there as well. The thing is I know he needs to be on 180ml per feed now and he is not and wants more afterwards. Other than that, us travelling soon is the main reason I want to try diff things. Will see my dr again in 2 weeks so if this juice is not working i will def ask him about Motilium. Kiwispiers I do appreciate you swift replies and I take all you say into account. I am also starting to realize that if it does not work out then its ok - as i have been feeding him for 3 months and i am proud it lasted this long. So if nothing works i will eventually stop expressing and put him on formula. Then I will have even more time to spend with my 2 precious children.

Hi Kiwispiers - The Herba Force Schlehen Blackthorn Berry Elixir is an energy and vitalic tonic given to children, Pregnant and breasfeeding mothers). Specially designed for them. Ingredients for this Elixir is Prunus spinosa and Vitaman C. Its made in South Africa and thats why you cannot find it here. Now this is mixed with 1 Sachets of Oral rehydration salt ( for dehydration) as baby drinks so much (Not the electrolyte ones). Then this is mixed with 1L juice - apple/berry or anything you like. ( You will drink juice anyway during the day) This is mixed with 2L of water. And thats it! You drink this 3L in 24 hour and then 1 and a half L every 2 days. No its not bad for you. It is very diluted with water and its all natural - the sugar content mostly comes from the juice you choose. Like i said before you have juice during the day anyway. My dr. does not have any problem with me using it. This herb is also used as a homeopathic remedy. I did try fenugreek for 3 months now, and it is not doing much at all. So will give this a go :-) edited by babyangel on 19/08/2011

Hi malibumandy. I do recommend you come to the one on Sundays at the oasis center instead. There is also one that is on Tuesday at Mirdif City Center at 10 - 12 for toddler. They are in the Fun play area. I dont normally go to that one but will take my 2 and a half there this tuesday. Go on to the Mumcierge site and they have all sorts of activities on for toddlers eg. dubai drums, art and crafs, boogy babie ect. every tuesday. The one at MOE is mostly babies, but soon will be avail for older children as they are (opening) a play area at the coffee morning for the active ones :-) But think this will only happen after ramadan. http://www.mumcierge.ae/ There is also a webpage http://www.dubaikidz.biz/ Click on parents and you can see and join all kinds of playgroups xxx edited by babyangel on 18/08/2011

I totally agree with Kiwispier. My little boy is 3 months old now and also has reflux! He is on Nexuim and it really does wonders. I do recomend she try and get an app. with Dr Loubser at infinity clinic on Wasl road. Being summer, it might also be easier to get in to see him as alot of people will be away on holiday. There are a few signs to look out for when you think baby might have reflux. These are the signs I have picked up from my little one - resist laying flat on his back, especially after a feed. (He always lies on his side now) - Is a fussy feeder, Arches his back and kicks his legs out, is forever tilting his head back while being held upright, -swallowing and coughing alot. I must admit that he seems much better now - I do think that it is getting better and he is def not having projectile vomiting as often as he use to. Also tell her it might help if you tilt baby's matress a little into an upright position (not too much) If I can give you any advise it is to maybe tell her to consider the Dorn therapy treatment - Google it. There is a lady called Josie - she is at the Manchester clinic on Beach road. We took our little one there when he was 5 and a half weeks old as we were out of options. We went to see 3 diff dr as he just did not want to stop crying and the reflux was getting worse. He used to wake up screaming every 2 hours during the night. He was never happy when he was awake either. We eventually got an app with Josie and that night he slept for 8hr straight. And now he is sleeping between 10 - 12 hr at night! It is very difficult to get an app with her but make sure the receptionist know its for a newborn! And phone every 2d day to check if there is anything avail. as then they are more likely to get tired of you phoning and just squeeze you in :-) As they did for us. I'm not saying it will work for every baby - but it did for ours! And we are so thankful to her. We are currently going to a group called mumcierge if she wants to join. Its every Wednesday 10-12 at MOE. It will be good for her to meet other moms and just to get out. I wish her all the best and she is very lucky to have you by her side!

Hi Parf - Yes Apricot is right, The childrens garden a a very good school especially if you want them to learn German or French - I use to work there but since i fell pregnant i stopped. There are a few good schools out there you just have to take time and go look as everyone has different opinions on what a school requires. My child will start at Ladybird montessori in jumeirah. She loves it as she did summer school there. I also hear blossom nursery is great! Google mumcierge and join the group - we meet up every Wednesday at MOE for themed coffee mornings. Pregnant mommy's and new mommy's they are all welcome. They also have activities for toddlers every tuesday. Would be nice to meet you

Thanks so much kiwispiers - yes we took him to 2 dr's, and they both ruled it out :-). His reflux is improving day by day - some days worse than others but he is getting better - it does not hurt him as much as it use to, as he is on meds now and will be on it for at least another 6 months. I know it breaks my heart that im actually considering the pump and dump - especially cause i dont have that much milk but did not now that you get cold water ster. tablets - guess you learn something new everyday. I will def look into that!!! It is so nice to know that there are other moms out there that went through the same thing! And that it does get better. That being said although he has bad reflux he is thriving very well. I am so proud of him. But he does eat so much! Im still feeding on demand as the 4hr waiting game does not work for him LOL Alimart - Oh wow that would be great - I will email you. You are a STAR! KKS - thanks so much! I really appreciate it - as I have done TONS of reasearch on how to keep up my milk supply especially as pumping does not stimulate you as much as baby's sucking. But its always nice getting a new site and more info. :-)

Sandee, Thanks for your support - Yes My 3 month old is on 4 - 5 bottles of breast milk a day and one formula before night sleep. He sleeps through the night from 7pm to 6am. Currently I am only able to express as he is not taking to the breast well due to projectile reflux. He is on medication to control the acid coming up, but it does not help with the reflux. I think due to the fact that im expressing and am able to get 120ml per bottle is very rare and i am very proud of myself for keeping it up as it takes alot out of a mom of 2 children! I would have loved to only breastfeed - and i do envy you but it is not always so easy! You are very lucky summerdream! I am currently going to travel and most of the places and activities we will be doing does not allow me to express anywhere and not to mention sterilize. Jungle juice is not medicine and its all natural! I will be taking my pump, and will be pumping but it wont be sterile so i will have to dump it. (I will be doing this to keep my current supply up) I will obviously try and give the best to my child so if it means that i have to make jungle juice so be it. He will benefit from my milk and i will also be happy. xxx

Hello there, Please can anyone give me advise on where to buy blackthorn berry elixir and blackcurrent Rehidrat sachets from? I want to make some jungle juice to increase my milk supply while breastfeeding. Thanks so much!
