I now bank with Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD). You get a dedicated personal banker who actually answers the phone and even helps you! Yes it's true. I used to have an account with that international bank and it drove me mad.

Ok here goes hopefully you will understand my rambling. 1. You can only transfer her visa if she has been released from her employers and her employers sign the papers. Ie transfer papers. 2. If they transfer her visa to you, you will probably get a saving of around aed 800. 3. It will cost you a lot more to bring in someone from the Philippines as well. You need to ask yourself why she is so desperate to leave her present employers. Personally I wouldnt hire someone who would want to transfer midway through their contract. If she does it to them she might well do it to you. Sponsoring a maid cost in the region of aed 5000 and that is without the deposit cost. As a sponsor you don't get any of that money back.

At Star it's 8 til 12:30 in FS1 and FS2. The kids have lunch at home. I suppose it's what the kids are used to. DD was really tired initially when she started FS1 but she soon got used to it.

Rather than name and shame you could always give your honest opinion when asked to give a reference. Any perspective employer would/should ask for latest references. When interviewing I always ask why they are leaving and contactable references. No contactable references no job in my books.

You cannot transfer visa but what you an do is tell her employers to cancel her visa and then you process her visa under your sponsorship. We had exactly the same in August with the home help which we sponsored.

Thank you for all your useful comments. Lolacat - she has been tested for Gardia and that came back negative, she has has a whole host of blood tests which all came back negative as well. We use Vet care at the Polo Club. We normally see Dominic but was on holiday on both occasions that I took her in. As I mentioned in my initial post I maybe just being over anxious but I do think there is something not quite right with her but I can't but my finger on it.

Only things I can think of are: Food allergy? Some dogs are allergic to gluten and the symptoms you have described would fit into this. Gastric Obstruction? Has the vet checked to see if she has eaten anything which had become stuck in her tummy? If there is something stuck they tend to lose weight quickly and have runny poo...if she doesnt have a tender tummy you should be ok though. Lactose Intolerant? Do you ever give her milk? Dogs are naturally lactose intolerant and can only handle small amounts until their body adjusts after a period of time. Kennels during summer holidays? It is very common for dogs to refuse to eat or eat very little whilst in boarding, strange place, strange smells, strange people and separation anxiety...I have known a lot of dogs that drop weight dramatically when in boarding. The sudden increase in poos could also be a result of this...suddenly shes eating again and the body is not used to the large food intake. Hope this helps...perhaps discuss the possibilities of the above with your vet. Hope she gets better soon x Thank you. I hope she gets better soon too. I spent my on the dog health bills than I do for my daughter!

Try this guy Hamit - zero five zero 2554101. I've trained with him pre and post pregnacy. Knows his stuff and will come and visit you. Hamit trained both DH and I but not at the same time as it gets a bit too competative for us! Good luck.

Hi I hate to be really negative, but if you dont know then you dont know enough about nurseries to open one.... Perhaps the OP means how to get a business licence etc I agree with Danielle77 all the way. I would suggest that the OP contacts the KHDA, if she is struggling now then she will struggle to get a local sponsor if going to open a mainland company registered nursery.

Thanks - no the contract has not completed. After we cancel her visa, are we still liable for her during those thirty days? Or from what you are saying, we send her to Oman and she can a tourist or visit visa on her way back in? edited by bblue on 22/06/2013 If only it was that easy. You are technically not liable for her during those 30 days but you have a duty to report her if she does not (a) find a new sponsor or (b) leave the country within those 30 days. I have been told by immigration that I will have to file a report of abscondment after 30 days if she does not comply with either a or b above. For your housemaid to come into the country on a tourist visa she needs to be sponsored by someone.

There is a lady on the classified section called Gemma who I interviewed. She is lovely and ticked most of the boxes. She comes across very sincere and just needs a family to treat her like a human. It's not easy to get an interview with her as she is has two days off a month and then they tell her the day before. I would have offered her the job for all the wrong reasons. You will find the right person.

Is this actually possible - only dawned on us late last night when we asked her to come for an interview to look it up. It seems that they are not on the one list. I have text her asking whether she has been sponsored in the UAE. It mentions on her CV that she has references but doesn't say where they come from. Thanks

Personal recommendation is always the best. Classified section on here is good. You can always try putting an add on Dubizzle. With regard to interviewing you have to go with your gut feeling. I spoke to someone recently who was whilst had a lot of experience in child care was refusing to go on a First Aid Course!

As long as you sponsor the maid she doesn't have to live with. Could be completely wrong but I don't think it actually says anywhere in their MOL contract that they have to live in your house.

I've heard very good reports about the school bus service. Personally would have used it myself as I don't think 35 mins is that unreasonable to be on a bus but DD who is 5 would be on a school bus for an hour and also be the last drop off.

Your husband doesn't physically have to be there be he does need to sign paperwork. I would have thought that your company PRO would be able to do this but then again it still needs your husband's signature.

Hi all I have just been offered a job in Dubai which I have accepted and the company is processing my visa I just realised I am 15weeks pregnant and single. My boyfriend is British and is wanting us to get married before I leave for dubai The company does not no I am pregnant and I have not told them because they did not ask what should I do pls help I suggest you marry your boyfriend before you come to Dubai. Not too sure whether your company is going to be too happy about you being pregnant. Also, your visa will not be complete until you have completed your medical and as part of your medical you will undertake a chest X-ray. This is all standard. As you pregnant you cannot do the X-ray. Which means your company will find out about all. Suggest you come clean from the start.

Ooh looks like a different subject has popped into this thread ! Back to the maid business, no she didn't turn up at the airport & just continued to send messages saying " ma'am I'm not ready to leave yet, you cannot force me to go, I still have 5 days" It's all in the hands of immigration now, cannot do any more ! Yep a note was made at the police station at the airport last night and then Immigration will deal with it on Sunday ! I must have been more delusional than the maid to think she would get on that flight ! Sad sad situation. She must have been desperate to stay in Dubai. Will you get your deposit back?

Hi, I have a little one Star cannot comment on Year 8 but I like the school. I wanted to add that Gems World Academy is a school with state of the arts facilities but it is also an IB school whereas Star follows the British curriculum. DESC is another good school. I think it is probably one of the few non-profit schools in Dubai.

Hello Ladies, I am looking to buy a puppy(a smaller breed preferably an Havanese or a Yorkshire Terrier). After asking around and conducting research, I've concluded that most pet stores are selling dogs from Eastern European breeders which are mainly industrial breeders who in-breed, resulting in health issues. Does anyone know of a reliable pet store, importing from well known countries such as Holland/Australia/US/England etc?(not at ridiculous prices like AED10,000+) Also making available the pups parents/grandparents' history? Pure breeds etc.. Any feedback on how and where to get these pups will be highly appreciated! p.s. Not to sound arrogant, but we aren't looking at K9 friends and the likes as one never fully knows how these dogs have been treated previously and more so, what health issues a doggy might have. edited by montykool on 02/04/2013 I'm sure you already know this but pure breeds will have more health issues than a cross breed. We ended up with a French Bull dog and they have very sensitive skin. I spend more money on the dog's health care than I do on my 5 year old! edited by Babyrat on 09/04/2013

Documents you will need 1. Legalized and attested marriage certificate from the country you got married. It also needs to be further legalized by the ministry of foreign affairs in UAE 2. Ejari registered tenancy contract 3. Passport photos of you and kids 4. Passport copy of DH plus originals of yours and the kids. Best take all originals and also have copies to hand. You need to get medical done. Once you get results go typing centre and get the application form done. They will also do application form for your Emirates ID card. This is required for both you and your kids. You don't need DH at medical but you will do for the typing bit. Kids do not need to do medical. Hope that helps.

It is your employers who would inform the bank that this your last salary payment. Your employers are NOT under any obligation to tell the bank that it is your last salary payment. Some companies do ask they are listed with a particular bank. UAE Central Bank actually states that Banks are not allowed to freeze your gratuity but not all the banks adhered to this.

If you actually look at your visa, it says something along the lines of it outside the UAE for 6 months then the visa is automatically cancelled. If you have no intentions of coming back to UAE within the next six months then I would suggest you let your visa lapse.

As many of the others have said your best option will be either a live out or live in homehelp. Both DH and I are full time working parents. Our little devil attends Star International in Umm Sequim. Star is one of the few schools which I know about that offers after school club until 4.00pm. Our homehelp collects DD from School by taxi and takes her home. The only comment I would have especially where you are thinking of residing will be transport if you go down the "live out" route, especially if you need hands on help getting the kids ready for school. If your late home from work this will have a knock on effect to the time your homehelp leaves etc etc etc. If you search on the classified section her there are lots of people looking for new jobs. Some adverts are put on by the employers themselves. I've found my present one homehelp who has been with me for four years thus far on the classified section. If I said the interview process wasn't stressful I'd be lying but you will get there. Good luck x

Thanks for the replies. But which part poses a problem (or both)?: the person not being on our sponsorship, or the principle of working for accommodation? Now I also wonder - can one rent a maid's room to anybody with a valid residence visa? No intention to do that, I'm just curious to know. Just surmising but I would have said yes as long as you own the property yourself but in most cases Landlords do not allow subletting.

This is my own personal opinion and I am sure there are others who do not agree with me. Life as a homehelp is not a prison sentence. Yes I let my homehelp stay out overnight at friends and I have to trust her that she is staying with friends. Yes they are your responsibility insofar as you sponsor them. You will not get fined if she ends up pregnant but it will be your responsibility to send her back to her home country as soon as you do find out. My homehelp is 36 years old with an lazy ex husband. I do let her stay out overnight but I also have told her that she if ever got pregnant then she would be on the next plane home. Happy for her to drink if she gets herself a licence but lucky for me she doesn't drink. I will NOT allow any boyfriends in my home though.

It is that ole saying "what you put in is what you get out". I've been in Dubai now for 6 years now. Never actually did the coffee mornings but I have made some really good friends here on Expatwoman who I still see on a regular basis. I've also made a lot of friends through my daughter's nursery and now school. Have to say alot of it is based around the kids. We do have have odd "mum's night out" and make the most of it. Four months isn't a long time. I can still remember feeling home sick for at least six months. I went back to full time work when DD went to FS1. I really enjoy being in Dubai - yes miss my friends and family big time back home but don't miss the in-laws!

He's an English bulldog so was impressed that his big jaw was able to be sooo delicate:) I'm going to try and crush the tablet first then put it in the peanut butter. Honestly what a palava?! Don't think I had this much patience with my kids. Babyrat, with the butter suggestion do you mean mix it all together? Food, butter and tablet or coat the tablet first? I appreciate your help, I've got another week trying to be creative x We mixed everything altogether.

We have a French bull dog who is now 12 months old and they well known to have skin allergies as I have now found out. With regard to medication I mixed her tablet and with her food and added a knob of butter to it. The vets told me to do this (Safa vets) and it works every time. I noticed that when the dog went on wet grass she would come up in lumps.
