Hi Ladies, We are considering renting a 5 bed independent villa in Al Furjan. I am wondering what the running costs are likely to be. We are currently in an apartment. How much do you pay monthly for DEWA? What's the average cost of a gardener? Are there any other monthly costs we need to consider? Thanks!

Thanks ladies. I work in the DIFC and they refused to process it for me. They changed the rules on women sponsoring their families a month ago. Only solicitors, teachers, doctors and nurses do it through the DIFC - a strange list for a financial services centre!! They told me I had to do it directly with the imigration office. So, I'm taking every legal document I can think of with me to the imigration office today. I'm even taking my husband and child so I hopefully have everything they could possibly need from me. No doubt they'll through some curve ball at me which will either send me into a rage or crying like a baby from frustration :) Wish me luck!!

I tried to sponsor my daughter a month ago but was refused. They said as my husband was working and earning over 4k pm, he had to sponsor her. The lady actually said to me 'you dont earn enough to sponsor her'. She didnt know how much I earn! I told her i earn four times my husbands salary - she just said it doesnt matter anyway! Very frustrating. She told me to come back when he had resigned. Now hes resigned i read the rules have changed in the last month. I guess i'll just try again now my husband isnt working and hope I get someone more helpful behind the desk. Fiat500 - which office do you use to process the visa? edited by babyrouge on 02/07/2012

I also got cards and needed a photo. After hours of trying to take a passport photo ourselves where she had eyes open, looking straight ahead etc we eventually took her to the photo shop near carrefour in MOE. They managed it in about 15 mins!

Hi Ladies, i managed to get the health card without the babies passport and visa. I was told in Al Wasl to attend Al Bada clinic to apply for it. I went there and needed 1 passport picture, birth certificate, mothers passport, mothers visa and Dewa bill. It cost aed 110 and it was printed while i waited. I now need to attend al safa clinic to make an appointment for the vaccinations. LuLee - what and where is the DNRD? Im expected her passport this week so it would ne good to get her visa also sorted before we go on holidays. Thanks again :)

Hi Susandiaz - thanks for posting that list, it's really helpful. I have some questions. When you say bring passport and proof of visa - is that the baby's documents or can I use my pasport and visa? We haven't had her visa processed yet (still waiting on passport) but her two month jabs are due in two weeks. I have a healthcard for myself but not the baby yet. Basically can I get her vaccinations done at the gov clinic using my healthcard or does she need her own seperate one? Thanks again!

I have a copy of the scan and it is exactly how the four week scans look on the internet. I was traveling during my LMP, with lots of late nights, time differences etc so DH thinks it may be that all that caused my late ovulation. He's working hard to reassure me everything will be ok :) I'm not as concered today. (although it was the first thought that came to mind when I woke this morning!) There's not much I can do now but wait for the next scan and try be prepared for whatever happens. Kiwispiers - no I don't think so becuase when I questioned her on that, she said "Maybe you weren't ovulating then"? I think she meant I ovulated later than two weeks after LMP, It's very confusing! Thanks again everyone for all the reassurance. xx

Thanks everyone for the positive advice, it's exactly what I need to keep my anxiety at bay :) I called the nurse and asked if there was anything to worry about, why it would be 2weeks behind etc. She was really reassuring and explained that often it's human error, opinion and every case is different. Plus so early it can be hard to get an accurate scan. It did ease my nerves a bit. :) Am just going to try stay positive and be hopeful for my next scan. Congrats to you too ladies :)

I have a notebook which I'll sure make good use of before my next visit. I suck at asking questions too but I have to learn with something as important as this, I just have to get better at it! Thanks for letting me talk about it, I already feel better :)

Thanks srdoucet, thats very reassuring. My periods are usually pretty regular, sometimes they can be a week off, sometimes they are exactly 30 days. I have an appointment for another dr on Sunday so I'll ask them to do a scan and get a second opinion. I don't think I can wait around three weeks! One thing I am going to do is stop googling it, there are too many sad storys which are not helping my anxiety!

Thanks julzandandrew. You are absolutely right. I now regret not asking more questions. I did ask if it indicated a problem and the Dr said not at all. When I asked about the dates not adding up, she explained it may be just down to when I was ovulating. I should have pushed it and asked more questions :( I guess there is not much I can do now but try not to worry and hope everything is ok for the next scan. Fingers and toes are crossed! :)

Hi Lec299, I also just found out I am pregant with my first. When are you due? Based on what I've read online and location wise (we also live on the palm), I'm going to visit the American Hospital, City and Medcare beside Safa Park to get a feeling for the docs and facilities. I know how you feel, it's very overwhelming! None of my friends here have children so I don't have anyone to ask for personal recommendations either. It's so hard to know where to start! It's so exciting though :)

Hi fulllofdreams, I'm also due in February This is my first and I'm very excited but also very nervous as I feel completely clueless! I've had a little morning sickness but nothing too bad, yet. Which Drs and hospital are you using? I am researching my options but the reviews are so mixed it's hard to decide. I'm also travelling in two weeks and would like to decide on my Dr and delivery hospital before I leave. Any recommendations? I hope the dizziness stops soon :)
