Curious to know why you don't like the idea of nursery, as most children loves it to socialize with kids their own age instead of only being with an adult (nanny). I haven't seen a nursery I've liked enough to send them to. I agree the social aspect is important, I ensure they attend plenty of groups/classes. Any recommendations for decent nurseries with good quality staff would be much appreciated. Does anyone have any ideas about finding a part time nanny? We can offer a fairly good salary considering it would only be about 10-15 hrs a week. edited by ashnaisbitt1986 on 22/09/2011

I'm wondering if it's possible to find a part time nanny/childminder? Not a maid and preferably a westerner . I'm planning on returning to work and my husband is at home much of the time, I am just trying to arrange childcare for maybe 2 mornings a week and would prefer not to use a nursery. I was thinking a stay at home mum who's LO's are at school might be interested? Would this be legal? Does anyone else do this? Does anyone know anyone who would be intersted?

Thanks so much, all of that info is great (a special thanks to Plum2, will definitely be giving them a call). It is highly likely that my DD has some underlying condition that has been picked up by a few doctors hence the recommendations for speach therapy by different doctors despite her age. I have been suprised at how quick some of you are to offer your opinions when I clearly didn't ask whether anyone felt I should be taking her to speach therapy, I was simply asking for some recommendations. What might have been right for your children will not necessarily be right for my very special, unique little girl who clearly needs some help.

Thats great, so glad your daughters doing well and maybe my DD will have a big catch up too. We only speak Engish at home, I'm at home with her all the time and she doesn't go to a nursery. I hear what you're saying re speach therapy but I've had 3 different doctors (1 in the UK and 2 here) that have advised she go and I've got to give her the best chance, even if it makes no difference. So names, numbers and prices of speach therapists would be much appreciated anyone??? Obviously I can just google and get some contact details but would much prefer some recommendations

Dont worry I have no disappointments regarding her at all she is amazing and I don't care if she never talks properly as long as I can say I've given her the best shot at being able to. You're right tho about describing her behaviour as 'poor' just wanted to get across that her issues aren't solely speach based but that chose of word doesn't really sum it up anyway. I guess I'm just trying to get some assistance out here as I'm pretty sure she's going to be needing extra support and help as she's growing up. I've done a bit of research about not correcting her, engaging with her, etc and think I'm doing as good as I can but it feels like there's been no progression for months now.

Yes hearing has been ruled out, I talk to her ALL the time. She's been a late developer at every stage, didn't walk until almost two, her behaviour is poor, and the doctor has recommended speach therapy as a starting point. We've seen a few doctors over the last year and been told by a few that as a child turns 2 they should be saying 50 or more words and starting to put words together to form sentences. My DD is no where near doing that and I agree she needs some help. Sorry don't think that's particularly clear, my DD probably does have some medical condition although no 'label' has been placed on her yet. edited by ashnaisbitt1986 on 16/09/2011

Thats not 'input', thats a judgement with no substance. What exactly was so unimpressive? I would be doing a little more research personally, and visiting the nursery unannounced myself before taking that particular piece of sage advice onboard ;) Of couse its a judgement but to say it a judgement with no substance is nonsense. I went there! I looked around and was not impressed, lots of crying children, bored looking staff not interacting with the children and a general bad vibe.

I looked around Blossom at um al sheif last week, it was a 'suprise' visit (I didn't have an appointment) and I was massively unimpressed with what I saw.

I had an emergency c section with my first, was unable to move for days, found it really traumatic. Was terrified when I fell pregnant again within a few months but had an elective c section, was great! Was up, walking and discharging myself 24hrs after the birth.

Sadly no, as no furniture, just called them and were interested, would it be possible to view it at some stage? Or would that be too lon for you to wait? Too long really, but if I don 't have much interest in the next few days can I get back in touch with you?

Will do, when do you need to break it from, there container arrives in 4 weeks so they are in a serviced apartment till then. As soon as possible, I was hoping for maybe a week or two, I take it they won't want to move until their container is due?

We live in an A1 at The Villa (just off Emirates Road), it has 5 beds plus maids, its own pool and garden and is located near the Al Ain road entrance. We need to break our lease, so need to find someone to take over it. It will all be done properly and a new contract done in your name etc. The 60000 must be paid in one cheque. Our lease runs until 9th March 2012. The house is great was brand new when we moved into it in March, we've had it landscaped, all air cons work fine, swimming pool leak was fixed a few months after we moved in, basically all the usual snagging stuff has been dealt with. If your interested please call me on 050 853 0054. Plus no agency commission to pay! Ashleigh
