Firstly, congratulations on your pregnancy. Fun times ahead! I just wanted to say that I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma 32 years ago and had 6 months chemo and 3 weeks radiotherapy back then. Of all the cancers to get, the survival rate of this one is the best. I had cancer of the lymph glands on both sides of diaphragm and was diagnosed as stage 3. I just want to encourage you not to despair as treatment for Hodgkins has also come on leaps and bounds and it was good back then! Good luck with everything, a scary time for you all but you will get through it, I am living proof! Take care x

I too have got slow internet download speeds. I have spent a long time trying to sort this but to no avail. Googling how to speed it up plus deleting and defraging my computer etc has made no difference. Surely this isn't happening just to the 2 of us? Anybody else? If anybody has any suggestions on how to cure it, I would be very grateful. TIA

Hello ladies, Thank you for reading my post. Does anybody know which bread knife I should buy? I do not want a whole set of knives, just one. Don't mind paying if it is good. Tavola have one for 400 AED but is it a justified price or a rip off? Fed up with 'tearing' my bread with my old knife. Can no longer sharpen it and don't remember where I bought it!! Somewhere in the UK!!!! haha!! TIA

Lauren is back from her holiday on Sunday and is very helpful, so we should have our answer then. I have experience in looking after children but not in a school environment. How about yourself? What area of Dubai are you in?

Yes I had my interview with Lauren and Brett at the Millenium school but the school right next to it being built has signage banners stating that it is the GEMS International and NOT Wellington Academy. I am very confused! Are you definitely working for Wellington Academy and not GEMS International? I have been in Dubai for 6 years and am looking forward to starting too!!! Assuming it is being built somewhere!!

Hi Geordie 1! I will hopefully be joining the school as a teaching assistant (if I can find it!) As far as I can make out, the school right next to the GEMS New Millenium is GEMS International and not the Wellington Academy. The GEMS International school is doing the IB curriculum and Wellington Academy is doing the British curriculum. They are definitely different schools with different websites and Principles. Another map I found for it took me near to GEMS World Academy (blue building) but that is also the wrong one! Are you joining as staff too? Let hope we can find it eh? Still got 2 months yet I suppose!!!

Really? I actually thought this thread might have said something useful like where to watch Wimbledon Final. Can't believe you actually started a thread to make this rude statement. Trust you look like a model yourself then?

Not sure if I should leave Dubai now? This is scary looking at how many earthquakes Iran are having lately, near to the Nuclear Plant too. http://earthquaketrack.com/p/iran/recent Is it just me that is worried? Leave and go where? Is there someplace where Mother Nature does not exist? There are places that exist that are not close to nuclear plants. You are missing the point. I am trying to avoid the radiation. I don't know why I am trying to justify my comments. I will keep my thoughts to myself I think, much easier!

Yes, seriously, but it's not the 'tremor' that worries me, but the numerous nuclear plants in Iran that may crack and leak radiation that will more than likely drift across all neighbouring countries, including Dubai If you're worried enough about an unlikely scenario such as that, why are you here now? Since it's *far* more likely that you will be seriously injured or killed on the roads here, and you're also breathing in low-quality air (which is a far more immediate threat to your health than airborne radiation), but you're somehow *not* worried about that? That doesn't make a jot of sense. I am here now because I came with my husband and his job. I have been trapped ever since. Full stop. Somebody mention wine? What a great idea!

If only we could all have your confidence that all is well. I certainly hope that you are right!

sorry for late reply! The apartment in Princess Tower has now been rented out and I don't know of any others. Perhaps try Better Homes as they have been very good to deal with in my experience. Good Luck and thanks for your interest...

I am still having problems texting UK. Anyone else same? Going on for 3 weeks now and Etisilat tell me they have checked and cannot find a fault. Very distressing as my Dad is sick and cannot text me. I have tried using different phone and different numbers in UK. These don't work either. Be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks.

I am also Etisalat. I don't have a smartphone and it's not practical for my elderly, sick Dad to use Skype. My phone is about 4 years old, motorola. Is it because my phone is old? I don't know if I should buy a new one? Are other peoples phones old that are also having problems? What do we do? TIA

I have the same problem. I text my Dad in England every day and although I receive his texts, he hasn't had any of mine since last Friday. I don't know what to do to sort this. It is very frustrating. It has happened before and it sorted itself eventually. Would also appreciate some advice on what to do? Thanks

Dr Hany Shafey is very good. He is at Dubai Mall Medical Centre or Dubai Marina, Emirates CosmeSurge near Habtoor. He is very professional and has a lot of experience. He is highly qualified and we have only good things to say about him. He is going away for 3 weeks in May, so not sure on his availability right now. Hope this helps.

I am looking at buying a knitting machine. I have never used one before and looking on the internet, it looks very daunting!! So many choices! I would like to be able to make some jumpers as the choice of shop bought ones here is not brilliant. What brand does anybody recommend? Any shops sell them out here or do I have to import? Any advice much appreciated.

My dog has just had surgery and has stitches. He is wearing one of those awful plastic Elizabethan collars. He is terrified of it! How is he supposed to sleep with that on? I have seen inflatable ones that look brilliant. Anyone got one or know where I can get one please? Fingers crossed. Thanks

I have been very strict. No sauces, tinned food, vinegar, I have been following Erica White recommendations and haven't deviated. No tea/coffee, no alcohol, no fruit. Only eating allowed foods. Looks like a trip to the doc then? Thanks for reply.
