Got some a while ago in Home Centre, had them beautifully placed at my front door and the sun melted them all over my patio!!! Tried ones in glass and the wax boiled over the glass and another mess. Let me know if you find any but I'm not putting them out until it cools down;)

When I lived in Ireland we had a Cookery club who met once a month, we chose a topic of cookery and all went off to find a suitable recipe, sometimes we had a demonstration from a local chef or visit to hotel kitchen, we took turns hosting it in each others kitchens and had great fun as everyone took a turn.... anyone interested???

You know we as women are soo hard on ourselves, I try so hard to maintain my weight but its so hard living in the middle east as we are away from our families and friends, we drink more cause we're lonely, we comfort eat and we spend our time supporting our husbands who work huge hours mostly away from home. At least with the humidity we can sweat a few pounds Ha Ha:)

The little booth opposite Pauls in Landmark is excellent for everything, there is a girl from Nepal and her waxing and threading is excellent. The girl (Liza?) does tinting and they all do v good mani/pedi. I have found it quite reasonable and no appointment is necessary you just turn up:)

Going to give it another try, so far today 0% yogurt and the bran, then ham and egg for lunch. Will try and persevere until friday but really think it will be easier back in Doha. (27th July) then I'll have no excuses:)

As far as I remember you can drive on your UK licence for a while until you get your RP. You cannot get a drivers licence without your RP (or your husbands permission!!) :)

Hi Sinead, I dont know much about this but I do know it's better to get the job offer before you get here, I am back in ireland until August so get in touch if you have any questions. If you look at Al Ahili hospital website I know they're looking for staff so I'm sure other hospitals are too... 'm sure there are lots of people who can respond to your questions better than me!!:)

I Have recently seen Dr Tiecks for Vertigo and he was brilliant, cured me with excerises instead of drugs which I really appreciated. Don't know whay you need Neuro for but I thought he was pretty good and definitely understood my 'slant' on everything. I would recommend him if that helps.

No Bra at night definitely, breastfed my 4 babies and it is so much easier and less complicated as you really want to keep awakeness to a minimum for both of you. FYI it all goes south eventually that's why we have underwire and wonderbras;);)

Novice, When I was moving to the ME I bought a Thermomix TM31, now I have to say it was expensive but it is the only gadget I have here in my greatly reduced kitchen, At home I had buckets of stuff and if I was starting again the Thermomix is all I'd buy except for an ice-cream maker (which I miss terribly) It is brilliant for baby food and now that its hot, lemonade or Margarita mix!! I'll send a link if I can find it or just Google it.:)

A product called Debrox is fantastic, you apply it to the ear and it 'Fizzes' and disolves all the wax. I spent a fortune on my DS's hearing and consultants told me he was fine and after using Debrox I washed a pebble out of his ear and he never looked back.;)

I agree with TeePee, people's opions of Doha vary vastly, what suits one person might not suit another, perhaps the others should clarify why the job should'nt be accepted.

You Brave woman taking 2 smalls on such a long journey!! I'm sure it'll be fine and best of luck. I would normally bring favorite games, some new 'junk' that they've never seen before (Go to dollar shop) Airlines are now so organised that they'll have lots of stuff to keep them occupied and hopefully they'll sleep at some stage.:) You can get nearly everything here so I cannot think of anything to bring, sorry;)

We bought plastic 'plugs' that convert the 3 pin to a 2 pin thus reducing the need to stick anything into the socket and I think we got them in Carrefour. So far nobodys been 'Fried' and all appliances are working.;)

Hi Lora, I find that its ok to wear short sleeved t shirts and 'Long' shorts but as Ramadan is approaching in August I would be a bit conservative. In your compound you can wear fairly normal clothes:) Regarding your DH blood tests, I presume his company will organise them. Lately some private hospitals have been allowed process Residents permits medicals and this would be much quicker than the normal channel. Hope this helps.:)

I didn't have to take my daughter for her RP, I just brought her blood test resluts. Got a text message from Al Alihi hospital last week to say they are now processing medicals for 'recently arrived' Expatriats so that might be a much quicker route than before.:)

I recently had to throw out flour (carrefour own brand) that was kept in a sealed container, it had weevils and today in Carrefour Landmark the carrefour own brand looked dis-organised and there were weevils or 'specks' on the shelf..... I find the arabic flour much better, perhaps because it has less to travel. Normally I find the carrefour products ok.
