it's american english In English; shrimps are the tiny things that are precooked. IN American - Shrimps are what are properly ;) refereed to as Prawns; ie the raw larger things,. Maybe it's just me...but I thought "shrimp" was already plural. Never heard shrimp(s) until I moved here. :) Appears that's a new flavor of the macaroons at a shop in Dubai Mall. WTH I say shrimp too. I'd never heard of "maths" until I moved here either. Same lol On the note of grossness I still can't get the sign announcing new flavored of macaroons at a Dubai Mall shop....shrimps, ewwwwwwww

Sounds to me like you're just not consistent for long enough. It takes time, remember it is a journey, not a sprint. Toss out your expectations, work your butt off, and don't quit. Don't over think it, but when you do think, think in terms of months, not weeks. X eta: taking meds and pills is easy. Being ultra consistent with your eating is a constant test of your willpower and commitment and exercise done right is hard work, but so worth it edited by Beebers on 20/01/2013

Before you mess with melatonin, or St. John's wort or the like...I would do some research on 5-HTP. Takes a while to work, and it is cumulative. I found it worked best when I started with 3 tablets a day, dosed in even increments, and then graduated to about 5-6 a day. Can't remember the exact doses, but I think they were 300 or 500mg. Sorry, it's been a while. And of course, consult your physician, I am not one! x

I can see why, AA :) littleone called me a bogan because I wear UGGs in public so I am trying to form an affinity for the term and come to grips with it, but it just doesn't quite fit.

I, even being the [b'>bogan [/b'>that I am, would not be up for it :D There was one bogan lot in Oz near us that did it and they were known as the bogans. In fact, until they moved up north to us no one used the word bogan :D Did they wear UGGs outside of the shared house?

Actually digging "My fitness Pal." I can toss all my spreadsheets and manual logs now. I stand corrected, yay! I love when the day is over, and it calculates the day I'll reach my goal if every day were like the one I just logged. Puts the pressure on LOL Of course it can't be 100% accurate, so I am eager to see how close it actually does get. Cool :)

I understand times are tough. It's not the first time that times were tough, and my parents had some friends that did the Woodstock thing...but I think that was a different motivation for sharing houses... I'm with you, AA. I'm not sure what it is about me...really bad roommate experiences in my youth? I couldn't even have a live-in staff in main quarters. Not that circumstances would allow any time soon, any way.

The thought of villa sharing with other families makes me shudder. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. Certainly don't want to be rude, but I am curious besides the OP just how many people think this would actually be an enjoyable or enriching experience aside from the legalities.

Ok, I am doing paleo and you may feel that this is a naff alternative to pasta, and actually the idea made me feel sick (As I don't like Zuccini/courgette in any form) but desperate times...so I made the Usual spag. Bol sauce That we always have, then sliced 6 small courgettes into julienne strip and frIed in a small amount of grass fed butter. Served the sauce ontop and even the kids loved it!! My son actually told me (picking up a stip without green skin on it) that this bit is real pasta! Give it a go! I make an "unspaghetti" also. Atop grilled eggplant. Glorious :)

Perhaps it is what fandrew referred to a few weeks ago as: [i'>[b'>I think it is universally accepted that to get off your head at 35 or 40+ at an open air all you can drink binge in a belt as a skirt letting your mascara drip all over the margarita machines while your hips lip sync to ABBA cannot really be termed "classy" (which is a term I hate by the way).[/b'>[/i'> Possibly one of the best descriptions on EW ever. Not quite accurate. Those were Sangria machines, thanks!

Definitely salon although this isn;t to cover grey as I don't have any; I pay about 750 in Pastels every 2-3 months. I think grey hair is really cool though so if I had it, I'd keep it and have it in a really funky style. I think grey hair covered up through bad home dying / block colour looks awful IMHO agree x 10. I would love if I would grey nicely. As far as bad grey coverups, the worst is on MEN. Geez, go grey! That is so hot on men!!

Cold. It felt warmer this morning before sunrise for my run, but met a friend for tea and outdoor seating was unpleasant. Of course then the leasing agent wanted to meet on another outdoor patio to sign some more papers...then DH called for me to meet him on another patio for an early dinner. I'm in the house and still stinking cold!!! Where are my UGGS ETA I would say Cpt. is insane, however I need my bedroom freezing at night or I won't sleep. edited by Beebers on 17/01/2013

Eeek, that's awful - and [b'>you[/b'> got a 1 year ban because of this!!? Thanks for the reminder, I've heard a lot of these empty promises. Yep. I even had printed out emails where my old boss was swearing at me, emails where he said he doesn't care what the rules are, Christians do not get EID or any other Islamic or National holidays, and emails where he said he knows my contract says I get vacation, but I can't really expect to have vacation time when I am so necessary to the company. Yes, moron wrote all this and I am a documentation freak. Oh I could go on and on! The gentleman at the MOL basically said since I'm American, it won't be too hard for me to find another job, and I could just go get a free zone visa. Or a new employer could just pay to get it lifted. Very encouraging. :\:

I had noticed a lot of what I thought was silver growing out, and was using the Schwarzkopf home color and really liked it. I hadn't found a hairdresser here yet, so was doing it myself. Lo and behold, I let it grow out because I couldn't decide what color I wanted next...and realized those were not greys, but natural highlights on my lt. brown hair because I was spending so much time in the sun! doh! Looked slivery to me....i get it done now by the professionals, but the home color was nice, even, and quite a natural color. DH would make sure I got all the strands in the back :)

Cool Blondie I'll check those out :) I downloaded my fitness pal, but I have a beef with that app. According to it, I only need 61g of protein a day. I do 30g a meal!!! Plus it asks for hours of exercise, well, weight training and long distance running/boot camp stuff are completely different. I will see if it helps at all...but most that stuff I do in my head! Oopsy, so you were the culprit lol

As far as INSANITY, there are a few ladies on the forum doing this if I am not mistaken. You could search "insanity" in recent threads. Several of my friends have done this program. Results varied. Why? My friends that were committed got great results. The ones that skipped days or ate junk did not get good results. Those same people also claimed it "didn't work." No, they didn't do the work! Why don't you just dive in and give it your best? Unless you have some health conditions that prohibit you, nothing bad could come from doing it.

It very well could be you or your expectations. Have you seen any jobs that ARE offering the type of package you want? Maybe you are not "selling" yourself enough in job interviews? Maybe you don't fit the criteria for education, experience, nationality, etc. that they're looking for. [b'>Maybe you're overqualified. Companies here can always find someone to work more for less money.[/b'> If they are messing around from the beginning, dont' proceed, it will only get worse when they become your employer. I agree with Sakhifa on this. I can speak only on the experience of myself and my Western acquaintances, but the case seems to be this. If you have an MA and the experience to amplify your certs, you will either be one of the lucky ones who makes a pretty sick salary, or you will find employers that want what you have, but don't want to pay your worth. I got completely lowballed on my first position here. My commissions were *supposed* to make up for the meager salary, but in the end, I found out they were fudging the sales numbers to try and get away with paying me less. Didn't take long to figure out, as I was head of marketing and sales. I resigned on the spot and promptly received a 1 year ban. Didn't matter that I took the documentation to the MOL and exposed just how screwed I had been. Everyone seems to have friends, you know? So my advice is along the lines of other posters here--do not take a BS offer and stick to your guns, because working for peanuts 6 days a week will just drive you insane; don't expect employers to make good on their promises of raises once you've "proven" yourself.

Posted on another thread yesterday, so pardon the repetition. Had 2 walk throughs for quotes yesterday. Pack and Move, and On the Move. For our small 1 bed apartment we were quoted 1500 dhs...to move a block away! Let me also say we just don't have much stuff. Basics; small dining table, bed and dresser, 1 couch, and our clothes could fit in 4 or 5 suitcases. No white goods and 4 sets of dishes and glasses, kettle + rice steamer lol. (we live like Spartans at the mo) I just felt that was a bit stiff! Have a scheduled move with Fly movers on Friday, who came recommended by a couple of lovely EW ladies. I submitted an email query Monday a.m. and was called back that evening, quizzed on our needs, and given a quote of 800 dhs + an email to confirm. I asked if they do TV dismount and remount and they said, sure, an extra 50 dhs would do. (Sharaf DG was going to charge us 300 just for that). I'll report back on how it went x edited because I can't spell this morning... edited by Beebers on 16/01/2013

Oh, and an hour after the walk thru, Pack and Move asked if we made a decision. My husband told him we were going with another company. They asked why. He said the price had something to do with it, but also our preferred move date. Then they proceeded to tell my husband they could move us any day we wished and tried to negotiate price. Too late! He should have indicated so on the walk through!

[b'>Hi, please tell me how did the move go and are they good? Because i will be moving in August and would like to know more about other companies the company I am using is called Xtreme movers they are excellent but would want more quotation but from PROFESSIONAL companies. Gonna be waiting for your replay [/b'> Hi Rose :) I started calling places Monday am for a move this weekend. Late, I know. :/ We wanted Friday but were willing to go with Sat, being short notice, and all. [u'>On the Move[/u'> returned my email request quickly, got someone out to do a walk thru within 24 hours, and was very professional on the phone. They quoted us 1490 for a Saturday move (won't take tv off wall and mount in new place but know a guy who will for 200 dhs). [u'>Pack and Move[/u'> will do the tv, and they were also quick to respond to my query and send a guy out for a walk thru. Not to split hairs, but he was quite late with no call or text to indicate. He quoted 1500 for Sunday and said Saturday would be more expensive. I had emailed Fly movers Monday a.m., and they called back Monday night. Described my flat over the phone; no walk thru was required. He quoted me 800 and emailed me the quote as well. I called Hassan back to ask about the days available this weekend and if they do the tv as well. He said no problem, just 50 dhs extra for the tv. He also agreed to move us Friday which is super! He used to work with or for IKEA and has a lot of experience with dismantling furniture and tv's so that made me feel comfortable. I will report how it goes. I just can't believe FLY charges half of what the others do. They all do the packing and boxing for you. We have an 850 sq foot flat with only basic furniture. King size bed set with dresser, couch, work desk, and dining room table. Our clothing could collectively fit in 4 suitcases, and we have no white goods. only a kettle and rice steamer for small appliances, and 4 place settings as far as dishes. To add, we are moving a block away. The price couldn't be beat, and Kelly's reviews of FLY movers made me feel confident. I will report back to let you know how it turns out. x

We dont allow any bogan's at our parties!!!!! So sorry beeb's! Agree you have to wear boots in the cold, snow and rain, but not UGG's they are slippers! LOL! :) okay then....goes off to bogan friendly party.... SS, I'm with you. I have a slew of dominatrix boots, but guess what. I am not going to be one of those girls walking thru the mall en route to the cinema looking like I borrowed Mom's heels because I am in pain, or I have a broom up my butt. That being said, putting on my 4" stilettos and on my way to girl night. Don't do UGGS on girls' night lol x

Nope - wear them whenever it gets cold usually with skinny jeans. They are not slippers hence can be used outdoors - they are brilliant in the desert when it is freezing. You mean you don't wear them when it's warm out, with a mini skirt? lol lol littleone!!! I would love to "bogan-crash" your party in my big ugly boots! ;) In the climate I grew up in, my parents always stressed function to me with boots, jackets, etc. I guess the tackiness stuck :) I hate being cold. Heck, I am wearing mine inside right now because I am fffffffffffffreeeeeeeeeezing!!!!
