We went to Hong Kong in Feb. 2011 with my then 3 year old. We had a great time and actually got to take him to Disney Land on his 3rd birthday, however we were able to do everything there in a full days time... You could maybe stretch it to 2 days.... We took the subway everywhere, very easy to get around. There is so much to do in Hong Kong. We also took the Ferry over to Macau for a few nights and went to the casinos. Then we ended the trip by spending some times at the beach in Boracay Philippines. We were able to get very cheap flight there (philippines) about 100-200 usd per person. I can't remember if we flew out of Macau or Hong Kong though. Good luck planning :) I'm currently trying to plan a trip for my husband, myself and our 2 boys and I don't know where to go either. lol Opps Shannon, the previous message was a reply to your post... goofed up, so sorrie :-(

i suggest a trip to Hong Kong... where your kids can enjoy Disneyland as well as OceanPark adventure theme park... Plus there are loads of things for the adults as well (think Macau casinos) Airtickets are not that expensive to HongKong... and hotels are also quite affordable... Thanks a lot for your reply. Have you by any chance been there... if so please do share more details about it :-) Thanks Shannon :-) Indeed quite informative info.... much appreciated, I am too in a fix about planning a holiday for the boys...was earlier thinking of Disney in Orlando, but as Abby_Christina suggested Hongkong... and now you to second it... I am thinking about Hongkong now... lets see will discuss with hubby and come up with a plan... Please continue to pour in your experiences everyone!

Hi friends, We are planning a vacation for ourselves but would like to go to a place where our kids (boys aged 8 and 5) would enjoy. Can you please come up with ideas specially for activities for kids... we were thinking on the lines of Disneyland, etc... My kids enjoyed their last trip (day out) to Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi.... ( just to give you an idea of the type of activities they enjoy) Would be very happy if ladies who have kids and had a great vacation which was enjoyable for them and the kids share their experiences with us... Not looking for a very expensive trip... mostly a economical one... :-) Thanks :-)

No, its confirmed now that its compulsory, here is the latest story: The UAE on Tuesday ended confusion surrounding new residence visa requirements and confirmed that expatriate applicants must produce a tenancy contract for the renewal of their visas. http://www.zawya.com/story/Its_official_Tenancy_contract_must_for_visa_renewal_across_UAE-ZAWYA20120612103201/ Well, it looks like that is the end of that. They have cancelled the rule: http://www.emirates247.com/news/emirates/no-need-of-tenancy-contract-for-abu-dhabi-residence-visa-renewal-2012-06-12-1.462677

Yes, I also remember of one of the ladies on the forum mentioning that she had seen figures of people moving around, a child crying and a lady constantly staring at her. She also mentioned that even her friends and guests who used to come to stay at her place experienced such instances... Indeed its scary, specially at the EW member many a times had to stay by herself as her DH had to travel a lot.

there is a company that does face painting and a clown thing and bouncy castle for 1000 dhs. how about a Pirate theme good for kids and adults and easy! Punch recipe: three cans of that totally nasty tinned fruit cocktail, lashings of pineapple juice and lots of Captain Morgans :) *hic* Or Sangria and you could have a mexican theme, that would spread to food stuff too and nice latin jazz music? Sounds interesting, I am sure the kids would enjoy the face painting and clown thingy :) Can you explain more on the mexican theme if you don't mind and yes thanks for the fruit punch recipe, I am also looking for recipes with gin or vodka or rum :)

I most certainly hope you ladies who need to have their BB's on during the night to attend email/calls etc. are paid accordingly. Sorry, but I just would refuse that. Reasonable yes...but answering emails/phone calls in the middle of the night is just a no go. I agree there can be an emergency but that is NOT every night...and to be on Standby most certainly does not count as emergency in my book..... to the lady who puts the bb on silent....what's the difference to turning it off ? sorry, just dont get that :-) I travel quite extensivley international. It is basically a matter of discipline and manage expectations.... a few people, my wife, my secretary and my boss know the schedule and my hotel/emergency number/home number....and that's where they can call when it is URGENT !! The rest has to wait till the next day....:-) Answering your query about keeping the BB on silent mode, is so that my emails keep coming through the night and I don't disturbed by these missed call nuisance, besides I got my mail box clogged early morning with 100s of emails if I were to switch it off at night and switch it on again in the morning. And I know family would call on the land-line on DH number if its an emergency.

My 4 year old and 7 year old know to google and find games and just wont get off the laptop, hence I have timings for them to use it and only when they complete their home-work, have been well obeyed etc etc... Its like the carrot method that I use, hehe. But yes it does work well with them as I keep restricted timings for use of the laptop and want them to search the internet for the school projects, specially for my 7 year old one. Hence I dont think its something outrageous for your kid to ask for one... however I stand to be corrected :)

I get it all the time, would never dream of calling back. Try getting it blocked. I get +2221705630040. Yes, I used to get calls from this number earlier, even DH used to calls from this number that you mentioned above... but of late getting calls from this other number as well... :(

Precisely, thats the reason I have not called back as I feared it being some person trying to dupe people or steal them of their credit. I cannot switch off my phone at night as I keep getting official emails on the BB and need to attend them whenever necessary and hence don't want my mail box to be clogged with more than 100 odd emails in the morning. I have begun keeping the phone on silent mode, so as to avoid disturbances at the odd hours.

I have been receiving missed called constantly at odd hours in the night from a number +966501295379 and its just a single missed call and is disconnected to be followed by another call in a span of 2 - 3 mins and this goes on for quite a number of times and is extremely disturbing as everyone is asleep and the phone begins to ring and gets disconnected just as you are about to get it. I don't to call back as it could be a prankster or someone trying to dupe people. Hence wants to check with you all if you have any such experiences. This has been happening off late... since a week or two..
