Have you just moved here? The medical is for HIV/Tuber/Hepatitis - you don't have a pregnancy test for your medical...only the maids are tested for that. However I rem you have a chest xray and that might be harmful for your unborn child. Do try to get married asap and you can get married I the church here..good luck. Dont leave it longer than 2 wks from now.

I signed up today! It's a fantastic nursery and I'm sure it'll be full soon enough. Can't go wrong with that offer either, that's an amazing deal. My husband and I loved it, and our boy enjoyed it so much!

Hi all, just wondered if there was a single parent support group in Dubai? If not, I would LOVE to create one. Are there many of us out there? Single mums or dads are welcome. I didn't plan to be in this situation (like most of us I guess) but hey it is what it is. Would be a great idea to talk to ppl in similar situations, arrange play dates and just all round support. Luckily I have a good network of friends, but I realise not everyone here does. Would be nice to help each other x

I feel for you, am going through this too. However I told him to leave as soon as I found out. I have a young child too and we had it all. It seems like the money and arrogance in Dubai got to him...along with the endless supply of women who are only after money. Since then I have focused on myself and my baby, I've actually gone out more and enjoyed myself again. Being a wife and mother is the hardest job in the world, guys don't see this. Looks like your husband needs to stop taking you for granted. He will only do that if he's without you. I know all this sounds easier said than done, but like I said it's far from easy. Have spent some tough few months dealing with it all. But there is sunshine at the end of it all, don't be afraid, life will work out-whatever you decide. If you want to talk further happy to do so. Pls write your email ad if you wish to stay in touch etc. Lean on your friends and don't be alone too much, sending hugs. It won't be like this forever xx

Travelling does mess up their routine. It normally takes about a wk to get bk to normal. I normally cut a nap if need be, just to get bk on track. I cut both his naps to 1.5hr in the morning and 1 hr in the afternoon. He sleeps much better at night. Good luck x

All babies are different and routine is def a good thing. But the advice is to wait until they are 3 mths at least. As they feed poop and sleep so often! So best to just feed on demand as they are growing so fast. I tried to follow baby whisperer and was pulling my hair out - but I tried it too early! He did get into a routine but be patient. The book makes it sound far easier than it is, good luck x

Hi sorry to hear about how you feel. Being a mum here in Dubai is harder than ppl think. We don't have the support system our friends have bk home. I used to be a social butterfly and since I had my baby a few months ago, I don't have much energy left by the evening! It can get lonely, but I take bubs out each day. We try to do at least one thing, I go to to soft toy area at ibn bat mall or swimming. Not sure how old your child is, but pls feel free to join me. I am normally out from 3/330 until 5pm x

Thank you for your suggestions. I took my baby to the soft play area in Fun City-he loved it. Such a great price - 30 aed for all day! Come and go as you please. If anyone fancies bringing your little ones there, we should organise a get together. Let me know, I think there's a few mums like me who have 1 baby...be nice for them to have play dates. My boy is nearly 10 months x

Why the need to add opinions on what you think. If you can't help then no need to respond. Some ppl have obviously got too much time on their hands. Good luck with finding help, maids are avail through these forums or agencies. Hope you get someone soon x

It's perfectly normal to feel abit shocked and overwhelmed-I was the same. I didn't have insurance either, but somehow you find a way. Being pregnant is a diff experience for each of us, some are ill and some never get sick! So try to just take each day as it comes. I fell pregnant and now my baby is here, it's the best thing that happened to me. So many women can't have children and at least you are lucky enough to. It will get easier and once you feel your baby move it will feel real. Nothing beats a smile and cuddle from my little one-its the best feeling in the world. Don't be scared hun, you'll be ok. Life will work out xx

The Angelcare monitor is pretty good (the video one). That way you can see your baby on the screen. Its great for apt but not in a big duplex or villa. I hear the ipad iphone are good but might have security issues. Ie other ppl can see your baby at times..not sure. Hubby mentioned it and said its not as safe..

I had a c section at City, the nurses and facilities were amazing. The recovery was extremely painful thou. I know for other women that wasn't the case, so I guess it all dep on our bodies. Re packing you don't need maternity pads/shower gel/towels etc. Just deodrant and face cream I guess?? Re baby, we didn't pack enough baby gros. Take lots of them, blanket for leaving, swaddle sheets, hats, gloves. They supply the nappies and change them too. I took 2 nighties but take 4 or 5 as you will sweat lots afterwards. Don't take PJ's as the trouser part will rub against your scar. Change of clothes to leave in, a nice big loose dress is ideal. Pref ok for breastfeeding access (if this is relevant). Don't cut the baby's nails (I nearly did!) because they aren't ready yet. Thats why you need the mitts or baby gros which fold out at the sleeve part. Good luck!

Best hairdressers are in a salon in the Ritz Carlton in DIFC. They are all European trained, some ex Toni & Guy-by far the best cut and colour I had. I went from very long to short and they were fab! My friend recommended them, not as pricey as I expected either. At least you're in good hands, have heard about so many bad experiences! Tel 04372212 called Y12, good luck
