You could try a specialist in Dubai like the Dog House, and they can probably do most of this for you, for a fee. I shipped a dog once to the UK, and he was delivered door to door. They booked the flights and handled everything.

I did this a few months ago and it was a nightmare. As the maid has worked in the Gulf before, the Philippines Authorities will not just let her leave to Singapore or HK, she needs to have a sponsor there ie a family member. We tried it without the sponsorship and she was turned back at immigration. So the process which worked went something like this: her sister went to the Phils embassy in HK and filled out a form for her to visit her in HK. A copy of this was given to the maid who was then allowed to leave the country to HK. I fedexed the UAE tourist visa to a hotel I had booked in HK, along with a copy of the HK DXB ticket. The maid also needs to show she has sufficient funds to leave the country, so we sent money Western Union, and she bought her own flight ticket with this money, as it was getting complicated trying to arrange it with a travel agent in Manila. It was very challenging, long winded and expensive, but it worked out. Note once you get her into Dubai on a tourist visa, she has to leave the country to change the status to a work visa (day trip to Muscat). Anyway, hope this helps!

You can take her for up to 6 months on a domestic worker visa, as long as you are resident in Dubai. www.vfsglobal.co.uk/uae/ Check here for documents required etc. It's a pretty straightforward process.

Morning ladies, I'm looking for some recommendations for a singer or other musical act for a private house party, but it needs to be something low key-ish, as it's an inside venue, no stage or anything, and not a huge space - so can't be too much kit. Any suggestions gratefully received. Thank you and have a wonderful day!

Always Organic. It's more expensive but non-organic chicken is pumped full of antibiotics and hormones (and water to plump up the weight....)

No one has mentioned counslling here? There's a lot of man bashing going on as well, but there are two people in the relationship and both make mistakes, not just men. Yes we are here to support each other as women, but women are not perfect. The OP has seen this coming IMO (she has stated that she's overlooked issues before and not said anything). Maybe he has translated her letting these issues go, whatever they were, into a lack of interest in him and has processed it as you not being bothered if he has an affair or not? I'm not saying he is justified, infidelity is always wrong, but what I am saying is that an affair is a symptom of deep unresolved issues in the marriage. Most people do not want to face the issues because they find out things about themselves they don't like but before you decide to pack your bags, get some counselling to see if you can work this out. There are children involved and you have to do everything possible to save the marriage, and this might mean accepting your own faults as well as your husbands, and doing work on yourself as well.

Hi Anette, I apply for my boss's Filipina maid's schenghen every 6 months so I'm very familiar with the process. They know what you pay your maid in Dubai because you have to submit a copy of her UAE employment contract to the Joint Visa Centre/Embassy as part of the process. What they want to know is that the maid will be paid the minimum wage while she is in France. You have to certify that you will do this and submit and affidavit stating the same. So say for example your maid is usually paid AED 2000 per month in the UAE, and you want her to spend 1 month with you in France, you have to pay her the additional salary for that month equivalent to the salaire minimum. This is her legal right to receive the minimum wage so you must pay her the extra. Give yourself plenty of time to process the visa because you have to apply for clearance from the social secruity office in the departement you are planning to visit. This involves filling out a form (in French) and emailing it to the authories to stamp and sign, and return to you. This takes 2 weeks alone. You cannot get the schenghen for France without this. It's a long process, but if you read the website carefully, all the details are given on there. Good luck!

I think they will only come to the house and sort it out if they were the ones who put it together to start with. I had a chest of drawers fall apart - they had put it together. They came and re-assembled the unit.

Sorry, I should just say that the drinks packages are for groups. I regularly book groups (20 to 40 people) as part of my job and always get the drinks packages. As you said it was for a leaving do, my assumption was that it was for a group. Thought I'd better clarify!

Hi DubaiCat. Most hotels will offer a drinks package. They usually have a couple of price points on this: soft drinks only, alcoholic drinks house brands, and alcoholic drinks premium brands. I've never had any problems with this, just ask them for their drinks package options when you ask them for dinner menus. Good luck!

Ladies, quick question probably related to the earlier thread I just saw: do the kids in school have photographs taken? What time of year does it happen? Is there a class photo and an individual photo? Just trying to decide if I should do my own thing.....

I've also heard good things about Alex Jeffries, as recommended by Kelly1814. My friend used him for some pics of her kids and loved them. She said his prices were great too. Good luck!
