Tried Lamcy - wont have any in for a few weeks which will be too late for us. So it looks like I need to head to Satwa - which fills me with dread as my knowledge is limited to where the tailors and material shops are!! Can someone please point me in the right direction of where I should go to find the shops which sells this majlis seating? Also I normally park in the big car park opposite Coventry Tailors - would this be ok or should I park somewhere else?

Not sure that we asked them about that. They did help us with what questions we needed to ask, what to look for at the boarding schools, to help us find the one which suited us. Payment we discussed with the school we chose. I don't know whether SAC could have given help there or not - they seemed to have answers for most things!

One visited last night - Umm Suqeim - very polite and courteous - explained who he was, wore a uniform, asked a few questions, and that was that. Couldn't fault him!

Yes. We went to their Dubai exhibition (is that the right word?) where they had a collection of representatives from boarding schools available to talk with prospective parents and children. From that we drew up a short list of schools to visit in the UK, but SAC also contacted us before we went, and did further research for us, contacting another school which they thought would be suit our needs, and indeed ended up being the one our DD now attends. Found them very helpful and not at all pushy.

Ask for Phyto from the pharmacy - you will see hair growth with a couple of weeks! Take 2 a day. Think the bottle of tablets lasts a couple of months and cost around 80dhs.

When I requested an extended holiday for my DS, I had to put this request in writing to the headmistress. The written response said it was OK but to be aware that KHDA only allowed children to be absent from school in any school year for a maximum of 15 days, and if he were to take more time off than that, through holiday or sickness, then he would have to repeat the year.

Thanks for your help, ladies. Found some at Susan Walpole in the pink mall towards the end of Beach Road, and, even better, they were reduced by 75% - bargain. Now I just have to motivate myself to write them and get the annual Chrissy letter enclosed, sothey can be transported to the UK and save on phenomenal postage charges. Sigh!

I know, I know, ridiculously early, but has anyone seen any Christmas cards, by any chance? Ideally charity ones depicting Dubai in some way - sorry, not asking much!! Thanks so much x

Which class is your Yr5 girl in? My son is pretty laid back about returning and is looking forward to it - so that's saying something! We should get together for a natter once you're child-free x

Not having an FS1 child (sorry, mine is in Yr5 now - scary!) I presume you stick with the original pack arrangements sent out at the beginning is summer. The drop off arrangements will be relevant for whenever your child starts this next week! I know it's very confusing with all these emails, and will there or won't there be a contingency plan (thank goodness that wasn't necessary!), but just go back to plan A of when your FS1 child was due to start, and take him/her in to the classroom. Seem to think you have three children to organise, so sure your head must be in a whirl being a newbie to Dubai as well! Reckon it will be total pandemonium there tomorrow x

My daughter has a number of Littlest Pet Shop pieces that she is wanting to sell. I will ask her to hunt out the bag (all stored in the spare room at present, with a pile of other toys the kids have sorted, ready for a car boot sale!). We are in Jumeirah 3 if that's any good to you. If you leave me your email address, I will email you with the bits she has and prices - all hardly been used so very good condition. X

Two months ago my dr told me there was a problem with getting supplies into Dubai. I managed to get some at a pharmacy - their last few sadly - having gone to a number of other pharmacies before that, so really think the supplies in Dubai must be out by now. Is there a good alternative to amitriptyline that we can take? I am seeing my dr this morning - I will report back if I find out anything!

We use the UM service for our daughter, back and forth to the UK for every school holiday. They get her to and from the plane safely, and seat her next to a woman every time (even splitting up a family!), but while she is actually on the plane, she is totally ignored. My daughter is not the type to speak up if there is a problem, so I send her with a packed lunch for every trip, as she doesn't like aeroplane food, and just hope that she is provided with enough water. One example - one time her headset did not have any sound, and because she would not say anything, she sat there for 7 hours listening to her own music and reading her book - none of the air hostesses came to check she was OK (as always). Therefore I would say the UM service is adequate, and they ensure your child is safely got to and from the plane, but I certainly wouldn't / couldn't rave about it.

I see Dr Kasid Nouri at Welcare Hospital - you do not need a referral from your GP, I have recently checked with him for a fellow sufferer who wanted to see him - just make an appointment (I do it online, all very easy and generally get one within a few days). My insurance covers the cost, but worth checking your particular insurance on their website.

Al Safa vets on Al Wasl Road. They order in the size you need, but they often seem to get them delivered in that same day.

We went to the Florida one the last two weeks of August last year, when there were deals on and apparently it was quieter so the qeueing was less (would hate to see it normally!) as all the local schools are back by then. Our kids were 8 and 12. We all found it OK as quite a bit is inside, and we found we started the day early to do the really popular rides before it got too busy, so we had often had enough mid afternoon. Would go back to our Disney hotel for a break before heading out for dinner and fireworks, or whatever the evening plans were. The best tip we read beforehand was to take small water bottles for each of us which we then kept filling up at the water fountains as we went round, and that not only saved us a fortune but kept us hydrated with lovely ice cold water.

My children have had riding lessons at Mushrif Equestrian and Polo Club, and we have always found them to be very professional and accommodating. Telephone number 04 257 1256 or 050 103 0243 (luckily had their last year's price list and details still stuck on the fridge!). It is a bit of a trek if you don't live out that way - we live in Um Suqeim - but we have felt it worthwhile. We always went early in the morning so the traffic was light and it took us about half an hour.

I asked in Virgin today and was told another month, with a big question mark added on the end of the salesman's reply - very Dubai!! He then added it would be after Europe - so who knows, in other words. Sorry couldn't be more helpful.

Could anyone suggest the best place for my OH to look for a good quality suit in the sales - difficult enought to convince him to go shopping let alone risking the aimless wandering around and getting nothing, so hoping I can benefit from someone else's legwork! :)
