I agree about getting a maid thru an agency. I did however contact mine by phone to make sure we were in complete agreement. The first maid I had was already here and was so set in her ways of how the other home was where she worked and all of us have different ways-just another small factor to keep in mind.

Yes Im serious. I posted a fact that you recommend/promote her heavily on here which you do. In fact I even gave you more of an opportunity to explain exactly what she does or can do because as we all know waitlists are a hassle. It is you who replied in a very b*tchy defensive matter. Certainly not the way to recommend someone now

The first time this happened to me I said I would help and that Iwould call the hospital directly. She offered to show me a bill and I again said no I will call and deal with the hospital directly. Well saints be upon us her Father did a complete 360 by the next morning and was discharged. Next it was her nephew with autisim. My lesson being that once they think you are willing it does not stop AND a fake bill is not unlikely. I decided to call her previous employeer (for many other reasons) before her probation was up. Seems this Father, nephew and so on has been in and out of the hospital and even died a few times. It was the first time I had any type of dealings with a maid. The man who ran the agency even said to me (which I now say on here)-"Mam-do you ask all your bosses before for loans and support for your family?! Why would this be ok?!"

"motor parade cruise"? Sorry, not familiar. I meant all the cars that go up and down Beach Road on National Evening. It is an unofficial type of vechile parade/show...the cars are decorated, music blasting, and spray foam galore

Evelyn7- you seem to recommend/promote Fionna heavily on here and threads about schools... What exactly does she do to help get into the schools here because frankly you can get all the input/advice needed but unless she can put you to the top of these waitlists I'm curious where the 6,000 AED goes and the point of it?

WE always enjoyed doing a drive around Beach Road in the early evening. I was not here for National Dat last year though. I live right off Beach Road and it seems it is already "reving up" for the big day

I spoke to my cousin. She used Latisse about 2 weeks after her chemo treatment was finished as she thought it would be pointless and counteract with the chemo in terms of hair loss. She said it worked wonderful on her eyelashes and they were actually more lush than before. It did help her eyebrows grow but not as well as her eyelashes. She was also considering eyebrow tattoo but not know

DubaiCat- I just emailed my cousin who went thru the same. I'm waiting for a response and will let you know. She also had chemo and lost her eyebrows about a year ago. Now they look fantastic and whether it is clever makeup artistry or hair grower I cant tell. I asked also if Latisse (or anything with similiar contents) may be used in conjunction with chemo

before going the way of tattoo's try "Latisse" which helps grow lashes and brows...it takes about 4 weeks to see results and about 8-16 for maximum results.. I will find the tube later when i get back and tell you the main ingrediant which you/your friend should be able to find in a pharmacy in a drop form. where is she visitng from?? she may be able to get a prescription for it and it would be covered

Thank you to those whose concerns and words have helped ease the sadness I am feeling over this. There was a piercing jaded response that I'm not seeing now which is what some posters are responding to. Just FYI- when I called I was asked if I wanted to euthanize the cat which I was put off by. In hindsight they probably need to ask ahead because you will pay the bill. I was told because of the hour I was looking at@ 1,000 AED. I really thought the cat would make it if helped. When I carried her in my arms to the car she perked up. I even told the vet that yes it was a "street cat" but please do not think of her that way as I would take her on. The vet said she was coughing up blood and suffering. She felt it best to euthanize her. I sincerely hope it was the right decision. The man had to sign for this and in the end ( without asking ) they gave me a discount. I'm only including this as others seemed curious.

I was not the driver, I was a passenger. As soon as the we pulled over I called around to no avail. I used my phone to post the question hoping for answers while I called around on a borrowed phone while on hold. No time "wasting". the vets nearby where all closed as it was after hours. It took a batch of phonecalls and I was switched around before given a nearest location that would take her. One poster posted helpful numbers and for that I am thankful. And no I was not leaving 2 toddlers alone to go to the vet at that hour. The man who hit her took her as I paid for the examination and euthinization. not a "daft" question when looking for help and trying to save an animals life. sand-fairy , well.....

nothing to thank for in fact I should have been more clear after being examined the vet recommended she be euthinised I asked to please save her no matter what it took and if needed I would keep her as a house pet The vet said the humane thing to do is to put her to sleep as she was coughing up blood at this point. I thought she had a chance..after I gave her water and wrapped her in a towel carrying her to the car she perked up thank you though for everyones help

She is on her way to "Vet connection" near MOE we live a good distance from there but this was the closest I could find. I was unable to go myself as i have 2 little ones that I did not want to leave alone but the man that was driving is taking her and I will be calling in another 20 minutes the first thing they asked was if i wanted to euthinise her when I called (?!) I told them just do everything they can to save her and we will pick her up. It has been frustrating at the time wasted being switched around so much and maybe it is my upset mood but seems there is a lack of compassion

Just found out that the kiosks refused to switch her ticket so Started shouting and yelling and upset the staff. Police were called and she was told either go to jail or on her booked flight. She was escorted by security to the aircraft and is enroute back. No, she is NOT allowed to switch I was told

Kish was exactly where she was trying to go For nearly 2 decades I was based and contracted in different countries. I was never allowed to change the return tickets nor even my vacation tickets at the airport without notifying the company. If I wanted to go somewhere else I would change when I landed OR put in a request. I dont see why this is any different. I also never asked any of my bosses for extra money or told them about my family problems (another thread, yes). I do not see why it would be different. In my older thread she was asking me to illegally let her stay here while under my visa and she clearly knew it was wrong. If she wanted to work elsewhere I would have happily transferred the visa and wanted happiness and a better life for her. there was no point in lying

I was told as a registered absentee voter I have extended time after the election So I am hoping the ballot arrives soon I will try the offices again in a couple of days as my area is devestated now. I am curious how the voting will work since so many areas do not have electricity and areas are in shambles

I went on a Norweigan Fjord cruise over the Summer and it was spectacular. I brought my 3 and 5 year old and it was full of activities for them. they also have nanny services (at extra cost) for the evenings however- many cruise ships will not watch a toddler who is not toilet trained in the daycare onboard

was just told it is too late to vote here,,,,,,,, As long as you are registered and have an absentee ballot (many districts email them to you) and it is submitted in time based on the state and timezone you are registered in you are fine. They can be faxed in and in some cases scanned/emailed in. Call your district back home to check. I am pretty sure however if you are not registered it may be too late. I think you have to register 20 days prior to the election? not sure..... HTH I recieved an absentee request and sent in in a few weeks back. I am unable to communicate with my local office as it suffered a lot of damage from the storm. Also, this morning the US embassey said I was too late to vote....just hoping I am able to in the next 2 weeks

Im fuming as I recieved the wrong absentee ballott and had to call my local office several times to request the correct one. They finally sent me the correct REQUEST form and i have not recieved my ballot. I have tried several more times this week to contact my local office to no avail (maybe because there is no electric and severe flooding) All I get is a recording here at the UAE embassey location
