only one of you has to be baptized to get married at jebel ali - maybe they would sort this for you before the wedding? Neither of us are and i dont think we should be forced into it to get married. However there may not be any other option...if this is the case i may consider a short weekend away to Sri Lanka or somewhere to sort out the legal bit. I am so happy with the venue for our blessing in Dubai and i cannot wait to get married i just wish there wasn't additional stress of sorting a church to legalise it.

Thank you for the clarification i was getting anxious that i have been misinformed by them. It is so annoying this is the case. I have had real difficulty in contacting the churches and finding someone to marry us legally as none of us are christened. Hmmm I also emailed the church last week and you've just reminded me - I haven't heard back from them! I emailed a couple about three weeks ago and not one has responded to me so i also need to follow it up

Hi Bracey777, I called the British Embassy at the end of last week and they were adamant that marriage between Brit nationals still has to be conducted in one of the church. :( Thank you for the clarification i was getting anxious that i have been misinformed by them. There are now a few hotels licenced to contract weddings, not just Jebel Ali Church. The Montgomerie is one place (very nice but outdoors) I also believe Jumeirah Beach Hotel is too. (lovely venue overlooking the burj al arab). However - not sure if this is only for non-muslims. Give the Montgomerie a call and ask to speak to there weddings manager. She is a lovely girl, very knowledgable! Wow Nels, that's good to hear. I got engaged recently and would much prefer to have the whole day in one venue. Thanks for the tip, I will definitely look into it. Is it a new change as I thought we had no choice but to get married in a church? hi please let me know if you get anywhere with this. When i spoke to the embassy the only place you can legally get married in Dubai is in a Church. My fiance and I arent religious but we have looked into all the possibilities and we are now going to have to have a church ceremony with just a couple of friends and a blessing which all our family and friends will fly in for but they will think it is the real thing.

I am so annoyed about this exit being closed. I live in district 4 and it is very annoying now to drive all the way down to the petrol station exit. I have logged a complaint with Nakheel along with some of my other friends who also live in JVT but have had no response. There is another exit apparantly which takes you to spinneys at the springs but i havent tried it yet. Hi Bracey777, do you know where the exit for Spinneys is in JVT? Is it by the main security lodge? it would save me so much weekend bother if they had opened that? hi it is by the roundabout as you exit JVT instead of turning left to go onto emirates road you turn right. The road is apparantly quite sandy and rocky but a normal car could do it my friend has told me. You follow the road straight then keep to the right there are security huts en route there.
