Thanks Girls. RAK is too far for us as we need access to the airport. Work will be based in Ajman. I will look into Mushrief Ummsofia. Thanks. Do you live in Ajman yourself?

Also, I just noticed on their website that the students have to do Arabic and Islamic studies. My son will be in g6. Will it be hard for him to catch up?

Thanks Ladies for your replies. I forgot I posted here and then didn't check of course! My husband is hoping to live in Ajman. I was wondering how the British international school is. And what compounds or areas would you suggest to live in? - maybe between Ajman and Sharjah? Looks like Sharjah has a lot more going on.I hope to get the kids into extra curricular activities too and I don't know if thats done separately or if schools have enough going on. Regards, Banu

Hi anyone in Ajman? I am hoping to get some info about schools and accommodation. We are looking to move from Ireland. Is there a waiting list to get into a decent international school?

So here is the story so far. I have been offered a single person's contract. The company has "kindly " agreed to give me QR 6500 pm as accommodation allowance instead of their own single person's accommodation. Their tack is that I can't get a married work contract. So really, I am going to have to tell them to stuff it I think. Anyone in the same boat there who have brought their families and struggling in the accommodation? Or am i overreacting? UKmummy, how did you get on? jimjam01 are you there yet? Thnx Banu

Thanks Ladies for the replies. That was really helpful. We all have irish passports, so VOA should not be a problem. I think the issue was the accomodation for the family when we did arrive. I will go back and negotiate and let you know the outcomes. They are also giving me just a week to sign the contract which i find a bit rushed. Regards, Banu

Hi Girls. I am considering the job offer in Qatar. Hats off to those who left kids behind. I can't do that be doing that as my DD is only 2. But the employer did say they can make arrangements for the family to come with me if needed. I am anxious about what kind of accommodation will be provided. I was told it will be temporary housing until the RP is sorted and then it will be a 3 bed villa or apartment. Could you girls let me know how the accommodation is? Is it close to schools and work? Would love to get some info on those who are already there. Cheers Banu

Hi Lizy, Thanks a million for that. They don't really seem to have transparent grades or pay scales which is quite worrying. Does your friend have any kids who would be going to school. I will be interested to know how much of the school fees they will be covering. Cheers Banu

Hi Guys, Thanks for all the feedback. I will definitely push for more now especially with the school fees. It looks like its not worth it otherwise. The have promised flights back for myself and the kids. Not for hubby. Also accommodation will be a 3 bed villa or apartment provided by them. I have yet to see their offer on paper and will keep you posted. Cheers Banu

Hi All, I have been recruited by HMC. I am occupational Therapist. I know that they have done a big blitz of recruitment from Uk and Ireland and I would live to get in touch with someone, especially working mums, just for some support. I would also like to know if anyone negotiated their pay and benefits. Cheers Banu

Hi Girls, I am in the same boat. I have only been considered for job at HMC and the offer hasn't been made yet. I am having anxiety attacks now with all the decisions that have to be made. 1. Schools: I wrote to a few schools and they all say they are full. Besides if i do go, it will be january by the time we are there. 2. I have a 6 year old and a 2 year old. There is no way I am leaving them behind for how many ever weeks! I was told that they would be able to organise visas for the kids. My husband will have to organise his own RP.He runs his own business in Ireland and works from home, so I need him to be there for the kids. This is all making my head spin!!! 3. I will be on a senior enough grade in HMC. I am not sure if I should be bargaining for more. AT the minute they are offering to pay me my current salary in Ireland before tax with accommodation and upto 21000QR as school fees for the school going child. Can someone advice please? Thanks Banu
