Hi Rickadon, Thank you for the information, that really helps. A couple more questions, what are the usual class sizes? I would prefer a smaller class. Also, do the instructors keep them engaged, my LO has a short attention span :-/

Hi Ladies, anyone have any reviews? My main question is quality of instructors and class sizes...any experiences good or bad would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Poram2323...welcome to Dubai. Just wanted to say how lovely some of you ladies are. Nice to see that those who don't even know each other are happy to help with no obligation.

I moved here two weeks after my husband did, at the time my children were six months old and 3 yrs old and in hindsight, I would have waited. We had to drag the poor kids everywhere in the heat of the summer to view places to live, cars etc etc. It was horrible, not to mention very lonely for me, because it was too hot, I wasnt driving and I couldnt go anywhere without catching a cab....it was Ramadan and we were staying in temporary accommodation, we had to catch taxis to view places to live, schools etc...the kids really suffered. If you can hold off and allow your hubby to sort everything before you arrive, it might be easier on the children. edited by britchick4 on 26/02/2013

It's all so confusing, unfortunately, using the wrong one means, unnecessary tests/meds, more costs and stress about illnesses that are either not really present or as bad as they make it out to be (im thinking they are seeing £££ signs in their heads). We are still registered with our UK surgery too, just in case ;-) thanks for the tips....still a lot to learn about Dubai

My husband's workplace booked the Marhaba service for me and the children when I first moved here and they were really good, they had pushchairs ready, got my luggage for me, took me through passport control right up to the exit where my hubby was waiting. Worth trying them and not too expensive either :-) HTH

Thank you for that....I wish I asked about this beforehand, I could kick myself for not asking....better not tell the hubby then!!! We do have a copy of the netwrok list, it is just that all the "recommended " paeds don't operate direct billing. Any recommendations for any who do operate DB?

What is the healthcard and where do you get it from, I have never heard of it. I am not too familiar with all the systems here. Where do you get the immunsations with this healthcard? Does my child have to be born here to get the card? Thanks for that Gorobattie :-) edited by britchick4 on 26/02/2013

I called busybees too and they were meant to call me back, but never did. Same with home maids, didn't get a call back too. Some agencies do not do evening babysitting and one even said I had to hire two babysitters because I have two children... Really?? By the time the babysitter came both would be asleep anyway. Is it really that difficult to get one? @Deeva, thank you for your reply, my children are quite young and I live too far from AR, but thank you for the offer. Any other recommendations ladies?

Hi, I have been going to the lifeline medical centre in JBR, it's on the Walk in the Al Fattan towers on the first floor. The Paediatrician works from 9-5, don't know if she works Fridays but there is a GP there all the time. We have been going there with my two littlies and they have been really good. Hope that helps...tel no: 43991119. Hope your LO is better soon.

We went to Rhodes Mezzanine for an anniversary meal, it was lovely, dining area is small and intimate, tables are spread out, service was excellent and the food was great. Lots of nice touches. Also, we went on a Friday night and were not given a two hour time slot either. Definitely a place to consider.

Thank you ladies. I have now found an agency that charges 25/hr. I will now happily give the maid herself a big tip, which will go directly to her, not her greedy employers. Hi Irooni, can you advise which agency you found that charges 25dhs, would really like a part-time maid too and te cheaper the better, as I can also give her a bigger tip directly. Thanks

I give babysitters / cleaner the equivalent of an extra hour's money at least as a tip. Mani / pedi ladies about 10 AED each. HTH Hi Suze63, I have booked a babysitter from supermaids, do you have any recommendations, just in case the lady I have booked is not suitable? Which agency do you use and who do you normally have? Thanks edited by britchick4 on 24/10/2012

First of all, it doesn't sound like your LO is spoilt if he behaves well at home. There could be a number reasons, teacher not using appropriate methods to discipline (positive reinforcement) or s/he is too soft on him or finds that he is not being challenged in the classroom academically, so gets bored and then misbehaves. Don't beat yourself up, it is only his first year at school and only the first semester, I am sure he will settle soon, school is a big change for them and maybe he just needs some time to adapt.
