Hi Ladies, we are currently arranging maternity coverage as we are TTC. As I am rhesus neg. my 1st daughter (born in Ireland) spent 4 days in the NICU jaundice. So the chances of any future child being jaundice are quite high. What I NEED to know is are there any other RHESUS NEGATIVE mums that have delivered in City Hospital with their baby being in the Nicu for a few days and how much did your bill end up being? My insurance only covers up to 25,000 for all scans and normal delivery included in that. trying to avoid a scary high bill upon check out! TIA X

Thanks so much ladies! Looking forward to the holidays but dreading the thought of her waking thru the night again. She's been sleeping thru for a month now. Luckily we'll have plenty of family looking for cuddles while I snooze : )

Hi, so my hubby and I will be traveling with our little girl this August. We'll be stopping off in 3 European countries to visit family. How should I go about keeping up her feeding and sleeping routine. She does so well on it now I'm nervous about changing it. Any tips or tricks from experienced moms out there?!

I was 9 weeks pregnant when I got married. It was a big decision to choose whether to risk having the baby here or go home to deliver. As we had friends who experienced the same and delivered here with dreadful results (a year of court appearances, hundreds of thousands in fees etc) we decided that playing it safe was the best option, so I went home got 12 weeks. 6 weeks before and 6 weeks after. On the other hand, we knew another couple that for married when she was 5 months pregnant and they had no trouble with getting their baby's birth cert. I'm certain it comes down to who handles your paperwork, their mood that day and how good you can smoothe talk them! For your own piece of mind, I would go home. It's not the time to add stress to your life! Best of luck! edited by Bubbles123 on 12/05/2013

I haven't delivered yet so I can't totally relate, but a friend of mine had trouble breast feeding and she got a lot of help from babycentre videos on YouTube. There a lot available for many different scenarios. This may help. Also, ask your doctor about seeing a lactation specialist. Good luck!

Hi millymoo! Congrats on the baby! As far as I know to deliver here you need to be a resident. Either on a company visa or on your husbands. Otherwise getting a birth cert issued after birth would be difficult I'd imagine. If your husband will be issued a residential visa you can enquire with his PRO about adding you to his visa. It is usually possible but you would need to go thru his company. I'll be finishing up work soon and will be going on to my husbands visa while i stay at home with the baby. If all else fails. Contact the ministry of foreign affairs or better yet your own embassy. They will assist you with this and what u can do. Good luck!!

Hi again! Well I've finally gotten my doctors nurse to pull her finger out and she went and reviewed my files and spoke to my doc who then put a request for my anomaly scan. Something she said shed do about 8 weeks ago. So I'm now waiting for a call from the radiology department in Belhoul to tell me my appointment. I know everything is fine but to set my mind at ease I really want to have this scan. At home it's a very standard thing and you are automatically booked in so I thought it was of great importance that I have it done. Lovely nurse, lovely doc but I would not recommend Belhoul speciality. Purely for how unorganised they are. Not what u want with your first baby! Take care ladies and thanks for all the info!

So happy you've said that as I just booked with dr George! I asked the receptionist when they take bookings for anomaly scans and she said between 20-22 weeks. So ill be 26 weeks when I see him. Better than nothing I guess! I called my doctors nurse to ask her what my last scan was, she didn't have a clue. So I asked if the doctor performs all the anomaly scans there in the hospital. Also, hasn't the faintest idea of what I was asking her. Then she finally said the doctor needs to send a request for you to have the anomaly scan.i thought she did as I was told by my doc to come and have it done that week. I'd say most of these issues are down to her being unorganised. So we'll see how the next appointment goes! Good luck with your weight gain! ; )

Can you recommend a good doctor in city? Preferably a female. I seen some recommendations for nine clinic in HCC, so I've just called and managed to get a booking for 3 weeks time. Times like these I really can't wait to get home and have health care that I know I can trust.

Hi beebee32, I'm 23 weeks now and I'm seeing doctor illiana in Belhoul. I've had a lot of issues with this hospital. It's extremely difficult to get an appointment and I've questioned my previous scan which was meant to be the anomaly scan. So I can't help you on where to go but probably where not to. I'll be changing soon! Good luck!

Oh cool, that sounds reassuring! I'm estimating to fly between 4-5 weeks. Fingers crossed! The thought of being away from my husband that long sucks! Not just for me but for baby too.

Hi mmmmm ( great name btw!) I called and called and called again to make sure I was having this scan before I went in. And I got shouted at by some rude nurse telling me I needed the radiology dept. so I managed to speak to my actual doctor after 2 days of trying and she said her nurse was wrong and she would do the anomaly scan herself. But there wasn't really anything different with that scan to my previous ones. Plus we only paid the regular amount. So I've been curious ever since. I think Might try another hospital. Although I don't want to, the thought of starting again with another doc is a bit annoying. Especially as ill be heading home in December.

Hmmmm, no I didn't get anything. She just said that everything looked normal. I've had ideas of changing hospitals and I think now I will. My last visit when I was 21 weeks was booked for 10:30 in the morning and I only got to see her at 1pm! Not only that, to get a frigging appointment requires at least 7-8 phone calls! Right, this calls for a new thread! I'm so annoyed. I even called my doctor and the hospital to confirm before the appointment that I was having anomaly scan. My doc even said she would perform the scan herself. Which I thought was odd as I've heard your regular doc doesn't do these type of scans. Thanks for the info!

I had my anomaly scan at 21 weeks. Or so I think it was my anomaly scan. Belhoul speciality hospital is rrrrreeeealllly difficult to deal with. She did a 4d scan but my little lady sat with her hand over her face the entire time. So we didn't manage to get a good pic. Can I ask about your anomaly scan? Mine took about 20 mins, she did some measuring, checked the heart rate and chambers etc. as I'm a major worrier I googled all about detailed scan before my visit and what to expect and most sites said it would take about 45 mins and would cost a bit more. Mine only cost the usual amount that my previous ones cost. We thought the receptionist made a mistake and went on our merry way. But now I'm not sure if she has done the detailed scan or not.

Hi dangerous blonde, Congrats on your pregnancy! You are so right! No one says your bump looks right on track! I find I'm my own worst critic though. I have another friend who is a week ahead of me and I freaked out when I seen her bump was far bigger than mine. Not being a skinny mini I expected my bump to be enormous by this stage, it is there, just not as big as other ladies I've seen at the same week as me. My last scan was at 21 weeks and the doc didn't comment on anything to with my weight or the baby's. so I guess that's good. Best of luck with your LO! It's getting very close for u!

I've checked every site I could find and most say once the baby gets the all clear from the doc at the 2 week check up, it's fine to fly. But 2 weeks is still a bit young I think. Maybe I'm wrong. I just think of all that recycled air on flights!

Hi ladies, Has anyone flown with their new born? I mean around the 4 weeks age? I'm going to deliver in Dublin with family and I am going to need to travel back to dubai shortly after with my parents so I can be with my husband. Has anyone done this? X

Hi fellow preggies, I know this is not something a lot of women want to hear, but I'm into my 6 month now and I gained only half a kilo. Plus, I lost 5 kilos in the first 4 months from morning sickness and lack of appetite. Before anyone snaps at me, I am/was a curvy girl ore-pregnancy. But I feel a bit concerned that I'm not gaining any of it back. I get hungry but never like i was before I was pregnant and my morning sickness and all of that stopped maybe 6-8 weeks ago. My doc has never commented on it but my visits are always so rushed, I wonder has she noticed! Just wondering if any other ladies have experienced this? Do I need to force myself to eat more!? X

Wow, thanks for all the info ladies! I don't know what a south London council estate looks like, but if it resembles the tidy and quant cobble stone streets of motor city, you're not doing too badly. Sports city seems viable. Just hoping the piles of scrap metal have been cleared away since my last visit. Plus, taking a stroll through the beautiful Victory Heights could be a selling point. As long as the building is close to them of course! My search continues! Cheers!

@dangerous blonde... That doesn't sound too bad. You are in sports city? My husband had mentioned we have another look there. I guess we can't be too picky on our budget. @asti thanks, I hadn't thought of falcon city. It looks lovely so I'm def gonna have browse on dubizzle for that are! Does anyone else miss the property crash of 2009!? For rentals benefits only of course!

@ dangerous blonde ... Seen as ill be finishing up work we're looking to spend about 50-55 on rent. I'd love to go to motor city but its so expensive! I'm probably being slightly delusional in thinking this exists for our budget but I would love somewhere that allowed me and new baby to go for nice strolls, maybe a store near by. I'm sure I'm dreaming!
