Why dont' u buy from here and fedex! At least you would know wat you are getting for the price you are paying...as sarees and materials could be pretty deceptive on website.

At times making the other know what their behaviour does to you is an eye opener for them. Breaking off is easy, but trying to find the best person whom you love and loved back in return is tedious.....May be he doesnt' really know the level to which you get sad by his words...if sharing your pain helps then do try once before parting. It has worked for a very dear frnd where the gurl used to pass off the cuff remarks thnking she was being very very open with her partner ...till she was told that it made him feel useless. She made sure she worked on her behaviour....

Now after sharing the details with school the school says diff to provide assistance. Fiona's assistance seems to be the best option for us.... thanks ever so much ladies...

Its been 17 years now... took the decision on my 18th bday as I was tired of leading a hyprocites life of loving animals and eating them too! DH, DD, maid , pets ..entire family , frnds group are all animal eaters and I address them too as that.... ;O) Meal is prepared seprately...but advantages of being Indian is that there are loads and loads of vegetarian options in Indian cuisine... living in dubai for over 10 yrs, travelling the world have learnt loads of cuisines with vegetarian options...quorn; cottage cheese;paneer ...but now is the tuff bit..before I turn 40 I want to become a vegan!!!

Just get her through Delhi...bus from Nepal to Delhi and by air from Delhi to Dubai. usually they have to get a clearance paper from Nepali immigration paying them some 20K..red tapism is rampant there.. to avoid that the maids come through Delhi.

Now stepping on real thin ice here am I if I say ... is it a cultural..regional thing... coz where I come from... having guests is like serving GOD.. no kidding.. Atithi devo bhava..it literally translates in to that!!! Hospitality has been part of our upbringing...we always used to look out for summer vacations or weekends wen frnds or family members used to come and stay with us... We love having company.. and with multi-cultural marriages happening our elderly generation used to find it a bit strange about why having visitors was not so cozy any longer... Kill.. us ...it is an Indian thing!!! ;O) More the merrier...

Just a query... for children under 10 is paying an allowance a standard norm? I dont' pay any allowance for getting chores done as it's an understanding that as a family its DD's( 8 yrs of age) home n hearth as much as it's ours! So helping to set the table for dinner; clearing the table with us; washing her own dish after dinner; tidying up after play time; making her bed; setting her bag for school ; making sure dog water bowls are always full etc is part of her responsibilities. Should she have allowances already?? for brushing the dogs once in a while? isn't she part of the family too? don't really know.... it wasn't part of our upbringing... pocket money was more to do as part of buying things whilst in school (higher grades) that too was controlled....??!!!!! edited by bubble_trubble on 03/04/2011

Glucophage success rate is pretty high as it helps regulate the insulin and curb appetite hence the possible weight loss... my very close frnd is pregnant right now with her baby owing to being on glucophage(she has PCOS too). she did control her carbs and she still is controlling it along with sugar in take.. all the best...

Just picked up Stones Into Schools: Promoting Peace with Books, Not Bombs, in Afghanistan and Pakistan during the Literature festival having read the phenomenal 3 cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson! Truly, deeply inspirational...and having met him and his small core team it really moved me that how perseverance of one white man paved way for such a huge beginning in a land where he had no strings attached! Touching upon female literacy and not just education for underpriviliged this time his endeavour has reached another zenith altogether...

Kids take off adults I have noticed.. my DD used to feed off me... if am active she is active..if am sluggish she is... so even if am dead after work I try not to flop in front of telly but drag my ass with the dogs on leash whilst DD is on cycle... or she is running with the dogs... or with her frnds. Anything but telly or PSP .... Then swimming is great...or nature trail walks...to have themes every other day where we go out walking to find something interesting to bag it whilst we walk... so she is on the look out for something new ...keeps her focussed. Wish we had more greenry though like back home :O( Almonds soaked in milk overnight and given in the morning is good for growing kids.... Get him in to a group class...tennis or karate and see how he feels....

Whilst debate is on abt the validity of such courses for dyslexic and kids with ADHD ; which mainstream schools in Dubai do provide good parallel support for kids... I was just told by the principal of my DD's school that they don't have the funds..and the chances are she will not be offered a place in secondary school!!! Even though am working with her having assisted learning coach coming twice a week at home... now trying to get her to Brain and learning classes ...to hear this from the Principal....and to start looking for another school for year 4 is just so devastating...to make the wee one go through settling in process..as it is she is a shy one.... HELLPP!!!! Dear Bubble-trubble I really feel for you. I moved my son to his school2 years ago. In the last 2 years the school has changed management and it's going from bad to worse! So we are in the same position as you and are looking for a school for my son. And as you say many schools don't have the resources or the willingness to help. But if you are going to take the brain training route, then discuss it with her current school and see if you can put in place any thing else to avoid the move because it does take a long time to settle a child and get them comfortable, confident and secure in their learning environment. Am I right in understanding that she has a space in year 4 but the a place in secondary school is not guaranteed? If that's the case, just wait until that time arrives. A lot happens in that time! Good luck! I know the anxiety you must be feeling! I am just not sure which school would serve my son best either or even which one is willing to! Yes PB... she has is moving on to Year 4 as the class teacher (God bless her) has seen how hard the wee one has worked this last term and not yet giving up on her! But the Principal is soooo very **** and a pessimist...he spooked me and my DH saying its hard to fit in remedial set of kids with "normal" ones and its' not fair on both! He made us feel sooo sooo very left out! so it's in best interest for us to start looking out for other schools as our DD will not be offered place as she WILL not clear CATS for secondary as if he has already written her OFF! and this is a new Principal of the Primary school.... Am soo soo soo appalled with educators of this new age...who are severely retarded in their own thorught process how will they hold hands of our children to make them progress to the new challenges with open mind??!!!! :O(

Bubble-trubble.... I think the best place to start is to talk to Fiona Coutts, you may decide not to engage her services, but she is a good place to start. From experience I would say many say they offer learning support, but few actually do it well. Fiona has a special interest/passion for kids who require extra support and knows the that play lip service to it, and those who do it well. I have heard mixed things about wellington. Rafflles - both have great learning support, and great early years education....but things can get patchy once the children start getting older. Its an important decision to get right for your whole family, which is why I suggest Fiona Thnx a ton! So is Fiona an assisted learning trained teacher? who does house visits? am just being daft and asking... I am wondering whether to put her in a school who have support in place and recognise special needs in order to be relaxed with such kids even though they can have place in mainstream schools just a little lee way given here and there like extra time during exams; over looking spelling mistakes etc. How can I contact Fiona? edited by bubble_trubble on 14/03/2011

I am just a tad curious to know how does one get an author of "fiction" genre to account for his figment of imagination????!!! it's his/her thought process that has been penned for us to take it or leave it.... to make it a best seller or not... we like or criticise is all we can do...in this case, Larsson's popularity across the globe speaks volumes, eh!

Thank you for the offer of a donation DubaiCat, but don't worry I will cover it. Just want him to put a bit of weight on before the op. He is actually pretty skinny, doesn't look too bad in his photos because of his fur. The "owner" won't even answer his phone now, the clinic spoke to him once and couldn't get hold of him again. The clinic asked him to ring back within the hour but we have heard nothing since. In any case, I would not want him to have the dog back now in these circumstances. Will tell DM as I spoke to them this morning about the dog, but not sure what they will do. I don't want them to force the owner to take the dog back, he is better off finding a decent home. Would be nice if they fined him but sceptical that will happen. Really really sad for the pooch; had our neighbours in Springs torture their pet too..keep outdoors in heat and then abondon, upon reporting to DM they tried to chase it up with the neighbours...no fines but the last option was to put the dog to sleep! He is now homed with one of my frnds as I already had 3 rescued ones!! U are such an angel...u really are and world is a better living place for people like you... will try to send his pic around if any of my frnds can home him...fingers crossed.

Hi All, I'm new to the forum, and looking for some advice!! I'm currently in the middle of applying for a position with Emirates IT (closing date is today!!!) Already had a telephone chat about my experience etc. Having read a few threads on here about Emirates I'm now a bit concerned that my expectations for the job, salary, benefits etc may be a bit high!!! (I currently work for another airline, so the staff travel aspect is fine...its the financial side I'm interested in!!!) I currently earn over 30K GBP and would need/expect to see a decent uplift in this to justify moving overseas....am I deluding myself?? Also, expecting a reasonable accommodation/transport package to cover the rental fees I see as standard. Reviews of Emirates as a company to work for seem a bit mixed....whats the general consensus? Any comments/opinions/warnings will be greatly appreciated!!!! Salary could be in the range of 17-18k AEd per month plus airline perks which you already are aware of working for an airline. so roughly calculated at 1 GBP = 6 AED. If you are single; no kids or pets then this should be good enuf for a nice living here....

So now, we have planned to get her via Delhi as she has relatives there also whom she can meet and then come to Dubai.

Read it in December... and can not stop wondering how simple writing can be made soooo very interesting! Loved the innocence of the writing style...the way the boys expressions to surprises were relayed... fab writing though inspired by real life mishap( not related to the author).
