Not sure what feedback you are getting but as a JAPS mum I can only say that it is a wonderful school. My child was at another school before joining JAPS so I can really see a big difference between a non-profit school and the usual "very profit oriented" schools in Dubai. In terms of academics the school is fantastic and the quality of the teachers is amazing. Believe me, I am a very, very picky person and since we have joined JAPS I haven't had one complain. I wonder where you are getting your information because I hardly hear bad comments about the school. It is such a well established school and parents there are very happy. Yes, the headmaster will leave but as I said before it is a very solid school and they already announced who will be taking over "temporarily" and it's someone coming from a top school in Dubai. I honestly wouldn't worry a lot about the change because the school is managed not only by the headmaster but by a very strong board and a very involved teacher/parent community.

Do they take smaller children? My son is 3 and is crazy about rugby but all the clubs start at around 4.

Oopsiedaisy could you tell us which company you used? I called several insurance companies and all the quotes were well above 2.500 DHS. Desert Rose I am praying for your little boy. I hope he recovers soon.

I am not sure if Wellington DSO has the same uniform as Wellington International School on SZR. If that is the case I am selling my daughters uniforms. Age is 3-5.Everything is in good condition.

You will not get a higher priority at JAPS by sending your child to a certain nursery. For example they accept children that have been at home as long as the child is fine at the assessment. You can't prepare your child for the assessment as they will look at things from a different prospective than you as a mother. You might think if your child knows the letters or the shapes he/she will accepted but they also look if I child is a good team player, if I child is confident etc.

There are entitled to their one month paid holiday, and then we have told her that we will give her a bonus on top depending on her performance during this year. So to summarize I have to pay 1.800 (her salary), 1800 (her holiday), 1600 (her ticket) and the bonus on top plus the salary increase that will start the following month, when her new contract arrives. So yes, it looks like an expensive month!

Thank you for all the comments. The flight I saw was with Gulf Air but it was back in January (you need to book it well in advance).

Any idea if there are still places available for FS2? I heard there are planning to have 6 parallel classes due to the change of premises but maybe it's already too late to get a space?

Our maid had a serious teeth problem a couple of weeks ago and I was very surprised when we tried to use her health card at a government hospital. My understanding was that if she had any health problems she only had to go to the public hospital and show her health card but this is not correct. Those 300 or 400 we paid for that card were useless. There is no cover for foreigners. Those clinic are free of charge for locals only! So this year I want to get her a private health insurance. Could someone please recommend some insurance companies that will take her without problems. Some of them ask for a certain salary so I am sure this will be a problem even though we are paying.

Does anyone know who the new education group is? I am looking into this school for my daughter and I am scared that all the positive impression I got during my visit will change once an "educational group" comes on board. My daughter is already going to a very big "outstanding" school that belongs to a well known educational group and that is one of the reasons I want to change her. I was looking for a more independent.

They asked me for 4.620 DHS to remove and dispose 11 mature trees. I found it expensive and didn't go ahead. Is your quotation better?

I went to NBAD and Emirates NBD and after a very long waiting time I found out that the rules have changed and there is no ladies account anymore. If you want to open a saving account or any account your maid needs 3000 DHS to open the account, which she doesn't have. I also asked if she would be able to send money to her country but it cost 100 DHS per transaction, which is more than double than what she is paying at any other places here in Dubai. So all in all it looks like it is not possible to get an account for people with little salaries!!

Go to Bumble Bee in Dubai Mall or Festival City. I bought mine there 4 months ago and it cost me 1.400 DHS. Probably much more expensive than abroad but that's always like that......

They told me I am still on the waiting list but in the meantime my daughter started at another school because I have the strange feeling that personal debentures don't really work. I don't know anyone yet that managed to get in through a personal debenture.

Champions is telling me they gave them back to me together with the rest of the cloths but I am missing one pair of trousers. Funny enough they called me to ask for my approval to clean them again because they were having problems with a stain so what I imagine has happened is that the stain got worst and that is probably the reason why it disappeared. Any idea what I can do to make them responsible for this? I have asked them for compensation but they insist they gave me the trouser back!!!! I appreciate any comments. Many thanks!

What do you normally bring from Germany that either you can not get here or it is much more expensive? I am going to travel soon and I am preparing my shopping list! Many thanks!

SuzyDuzy I found the dates on their website. Have a look. Simpleasabc I totally agree with you and I am also worry about it. That was the reason why I am trying to find out how formal things are at Wellington because some friends are telling me that at some schoonls they only go for 45 minutes or max a few hours and then that's it. I really don't want my daughter to struggle later but I also would love to join my friend at her wedding..... It's sometimes tough to be a mum....!!!
