Hi Minnie I'm guessing you may be in holiday villas company accommodation?? We were placed there but have recently moved to the pearl! I didn't mind holiday villas to much the people were very friendly there as well as the staff who worked in the hotel! We had a huge three bed apartment which was lovly but just not a lot to do around that area,I'm loving living at the pearl now it's a different world down here!!! Just sweet talk your husband into moving here you will find living in Doha a lot easier once you move out of that area believe me!!! X;)

Hi tabathatoo my husband works for the 330 fleet and has a lovly roster each month!! The longest he would ever be away would be generally two nights, can sometimes be three if he gets the odd China flight with a day off there, but I don't really mind as he gets a lot of time off to make up for the time he is away in my opinion,he really likes the company and is happy there,we live at the pearl!! Mini it gets easier trust me it's very daunting when you first move over but once you settle its not that bad plus the best perk is being able to fly back home whenever you want:shy:;)

Hiya, try qatarmaids.com I don't have any experience with them personally as I'm pregnant with my first baby and was doing a bit of research for babysitting services in Doha etc and came across them, they offer babysitting services and cleaning services at 60 riyal per hour, maybe check out the site there are testimonials on there aswell from ladies who avail of their services, hope that helps you a little x

Thanks for your reply Luton! I really liked the place when we were there yesterday has a lovely feel to it,we checked out apartments in a and b,the work that they are doing around there looks like it's moving at a fast pace so I'm sure it will look fab once completed! The pool looked great aswell! We also were considering a move to the pearl but just think the rental charges are outrageous and seem to rise there every year, that's funny about the trackie bottoms lol! The pearl does look stunning but just seems so quiet down there all the time, there was a good buzz around zig zag so got a good feel for the place! Hopefully we will be able to snag that apartment now,I'm already picturing myself living there lol!!! Once again, thanks for your reply x

Thank you ladies for your advice! Joos the fire alarm issue sounds like a bit of a nightmare and the heat sensor going off when you open a window is ridiculous not sure if I would be into that at all!! And your right about the safety issue what if there was a fire and nobody went to check there's enough security there hanging around reception to do so I would think!! Your right about the area itself it's just so handy to have carrefour and the mall so close by,gas about the hookers hanging around aswell lol I've even seen them in the lobby where we currently are at the moment they certainly get about over here!! Geni thanks aswell I will check out Beverly Hills x

Hiya mrs n I'm so glad you posted this as I was just about to post the same question lol!!! I'm also pregnant with my first baba a little over four months now and still really confused about whether to have the baby in Doha or back home,so far I've been getting all my scans done with future medical centre they have been really good and I would happily deliver with them there if I could as I'm very found of the doctors! Have been told to check out Al Ali and the Cuban hospital, also do you happen to know of any fitness classes like yoga or Pilates that may be going on for pregnant chicks as I would really like to do something like that, hope you and your bubs are handling the heat so far! Air con is truly a godsend!!!!

Hi newbie, welcome to Doha! I can recommend nails for manicures,on the highlights issue please never go to roger at the Sheraton,I arrived in Doha in October and after looking at recommendations for glow American salon or roger at the Sheraton I decided to go to roger,my experience was dreadful I asked for a full head of highlights, basically to cut a long story short when I arrived back home I noticed strips of bright orange no exaggeration at the ends of my hair when I phoned the next day to ask what it could be he explained it was the toner he had used and to wash it many times! I washed it 15 times and it still looked horrendous so I phoned him and he told me to come back to the salon and he will remove it,when I arrived he looked as shocked as me! I was going back to Ireland that nite for Christmas so I defo wasn't goin back like that!!! Don't get me wrong roger is a really nice guy and I never ever complain but as a qualified beauty therapist who does her own beauty treatments my highlighted hair is my treat to me and I knew this was a botched job!!!!! I've got it done back home since then and haven't been brave enough to try anywhere else yet but some friends have told me that Nemo in glow is very good at highlights aswell as some other uk stylists they have working there, you should check out their website and I'm sure it will be a good experience:)

Qatar Airways do not milatently monitor every exact kg for baggage, they use common sense and only charge if you a lot over the limit. And regarding the other negative comments which were not even asked for, I will defend Qatar airways. I have flown them a lot, and being one of only several airlines in the world with the 5 Star rating, says it all. Obviously there is going to be a problem here and there but that goes with absolutely any service to the public in any industry, correct me if I am wrong? The airport is moving to the new Doha airport in under a year, which is larger then Heathrow and unfortunately the airline cannot close until then, so buses are a short term solution until then. The bus is under 5mins btw. Finally, which I think is extremely odd to mention the performance of the flight crew, as in th last post. The fligh crew in all airlines are under strict licensing and rigorous training requirements which are controlled by just a few agencies worldwide and not by the airline, and I can assure you from personal experience that QR like most top airlines are well above what you would deem "satisfactory" if you only knew...! So bashing the flight crew abilities and professionalism is outside the scope of this forum. Not to mention how anyone could come to such a conclusion from sitting in a passenger seat "judging" the flight crew from there.
