Hello Abu Dhabi Ladies, I know you have probably answered many similar questions in the past but I would really appreciate what, in your opinion, is a realistic monthly salary to live comfortably (not luxuriously) on in AD. My husband has been approached by a company but rather than offer him a package they have asked what his requirements are and his expected income. Medical comes as standard but we need to factor in accommodation, schooling for two and monthly living costs. We have done some research and reckon about AED 40,000 a month. Is this realistic, too optimistic or not optimistic enough? Thanks in advance.

Don't mean to hijack this thread and although I do not smoke I do drink but sometimes think about giving it up. I got really drunk at a friends bbq this weekend, two days later I am still feeling the side effects.....physical and mental. I am in a really dark place this morning and although most of the time I drink responsibly there are occasions that I just can't seem to stop before it's too late. I don't want to say that I'm going to stop drinking because I don't want to feel like a failure when I have my next drink. We go on holiday next week and I know I will want a drink, for me and DH that is what holidays are about....is that very shallow....?.....I don't mean being drunk the whole time I just mean a beer by the pool, cocktails and wine etc in the evening. Feeling blue :(

I use FlirtyCurls Scrunching Jelly by Umberto Giannini from Boots. It takes a bit of experimenting to get the amount right for your hair but it's reasonably priced and lasts ages. Also Curl Defining Oil from Toni and Guy is very good.

I all, don't know if you'll pick this up but yesterday I had an MRI and I finally have a diagnosis! I have cervical spondylosis. My neck is completely straight instead of being curved which has caused compression of the discs which are starting to bulge. There is no quick fix but I now have a treatment plan for the next 6 to 12 weeks which includes physio therapy and traction. It's a shame it took my 5th medical expert to find this but at least it's been found before the discs bulged further and pressed into my spinal cord which would result in more complications. It will be a long slow recovery but at least now I have hope for a pain free future.

We are planning to take the kids to Legoland but after two days of such excitement I was hoping for something relaxing that we could do after. We will be travelling down from KL so don't want to have to go much further. Grateful for ideas! Thanks.

I decided to come off not to make any statement or to be dramatic but because I felt like it was bringing out a side of me that I don't particularly like. For example although I really didn't want to I found myself scrutinising how people look, feeling envious of exotic holidays that I can't afford and feeling angry when people post their problems that in reality are trivial compared with other things that are going on in the world. I am not a jealous person by nature and I always try to feel happy for others. Then I realised that I was posting stuff that may make others feel how I was feeling. Does that all make sense? Maybe I just thought about it all too much and should lighten up more, lol! Anyway, since deactivating I have read six books in three months!

I have cut it out by about 75%. I try only to have gluten about 3 times a week although I have to admit I don't check the labels of everything. Mainly I have cut our gluten containing cereals, pasta, bread, crackers etc. For the first few days I had a horrible headache but after that felt much better, I feel content after a meal but not bloated and full. I think my skin has improved a bit and my digestive system is definitely working more effectively.

I go to Jen's Hair Studio, ask for Kai, she is from Estonia but very experienced. I have curly hair and she has cut it several times for me.....she really listens to what you want although she still cannot blow dry it curly! I always go in the evening or go straight home and wash it again and then dry it myself how I like it or I ask her just to leave it rough dried and then they don't charge for a blow dry. The salon is in a building on SZR near the Fairmont called White Crown, tel 043311425. She is on holiday until 5th or 6th September I think.

I regularly use Lily Pond for pedi and mani and have always been happy with their service, they never once have tried to sell me another service, only maybe they mention the special offer of the month, and they are a lot cheaper than Sisters and just as good. Not had waxing down but have had threading and was also pleased with it. My only advice is to go during the daytime mid week or early morning on weekends as it can get very busy!

Bubble4 I have met with both the senior midwives at Health Bay and they are fantastic. They do home visits which would be perfect for those first few weeks and they also run post natal clinics where you can go along and get your baby checked and discuss any concerns. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Which joins? I had really bad knees after my second baby as although he wasn't big big he was quite big for me and I put on 3 stone, it took a while but they did get better. Getting up and down off the floor was really hard for several months. My left hip however still gives me trouble and LO is 2 years old. I don't know about physios but I go to Aleta Bezzic at Alliance Clinic nr Satwa. It's expensive but your insurance may cover you and she is definitely worth it!

I can't remember the name of the road, but it's after the roundabout if you go straight on at the lights after coming over Business Bay instead of taking a left for Mirdif! Hope that makes sense?!

We are renting a villa so was wondering about the selection at the supermarkets or do they have bottle shops? Not particularly fussy, like a nice Pinot or medium rose?!

you can still have a natural birth despite having a c-section the first time and it is much better for you and baby if there are no complications. Research VBAC! Good luck.

Made appointmnet at government clinic for my LO vaccinations, asked for an afternoon slot as work mornings but was told child vaccines were only given in the morning clinic so made appointment and planned to go into work late. Arrived for appointment to be told LO health card out of date (ok, my fault for not noticing before), told to come back next day and they would renew it and he could have the vaccine at the same time, great I said, what time? 3pm!!!

I know how you feel Daza. My DS is 6, trying to get him to eat in the morning has been a huge issue sice he started school here. I have even resorted to letting him have Rice Crispie Cereal bars and chocolate pancakes just so he has something in his tummy! The evenings are also like you said a rush. He needs to be in bed by 7.30 and even on weekends he still needs to sleep at that time as he is so tired from the week before. I am very unflexible in the evenings because of this and have to turn down many play dates etc after school as otherwise he just cannot cope and I am going to bed by 9pm so that I can get up at 6, it's :(:(

I had a lot of pain in my bones towards the end of my pregnancy when I carried my second as he was quite big, also in my knees and feet! I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but ask your doctor to be on the safe side and to put your mind at ease! Not long for you now, try and rest as much as possible.

SkyKitty, thank you for taking the time to reply, your words really help ease my anxiety. I did have hynotherapy once and it really helped. It didn't take the fear away but it helped me to keep myself calm. Actually I had no fear of flying when I was a child and I flew every year on holiday with my family. My fear developed in my late teens after a couple of bumpy flights and a very long flight to Australia when the plane did seem to fall out the sky for a few seconds, it was very scary and in those few seconds I actually thought that was it and we were going down. Ever since I get very nervous starting as soon as the flight has been booked. However, I make myself fly because I love going to new places. If I go for a 2 week trip though, I spend most of the time worrying about the flight back so I never really relax. Once I had a panic attack just before the plane took off because I saw a plane pass in front of the run way ahead of us and I thought we were going to hit it! Also, I just cannot sleep, even on a 7 hour night flight, so the more tired I get the more wound up I get, that's why I thought maybe at least the Valium would help me sleep? I want to go on a one of those fear of flying courses but they are rather expensive!

You poor thing! I recently stopped letting my 12 month old son take naps in the afternoon as he was taking too long to settle at night and then waking up too early! Now he generally sleeps from 7pm until 6am with a night feed about 4 out of 7 nights, he generally naps from 10am until 12pm and then I keep him going until 7. This can get very hard work as he gets tired and ratty from about 4pm but I find it's worth it to get some adult time in the evening and a good sleep at night. This may of course mean a big change of routine for you both but might do the trick!?! He also likes me to wait by the cot while he falls asleep although lately I have been standing a little further away, if he fusses then I just pat him for a few moments and then step back again. My 5 year old was very much the same but eventually out grew it, so there is hope yet! Good luck. Post your progress!
