Anon, I didn't go this year yet, so not sure which house but usually the Asian ones. Last year I got 3 sheyla with ripple on them. I like the volume that they give. Zeynab, Congratulation. You will be amazed how a regular white shirt would be new and extremly stylish by wearing it with diffrent sheyla each time ;-) Norak, I agree with you. This style is very practical. It's called " hijab alameera" in Arabic, wich means scarve of the princess. Originally Syrian style and the main factory is in Allepo, Syria. I would look in Syrian village for it, although im not sure with current conditions in Syria, it would be availible or not.

Global Village is excellent place for buying Shayla. You will find all the trendy prints and colours. Usually in China,Thiland and other Asian villages. Prices between 20 to 40 Aed / shayla. Life style , New look , Lulu , Care4, all of them will have nice shayla from time to time as Maroosh mentioned. Anon , I've checked the website. The material and design looks good, but 60 USD for a shayla is too much IMO. You will find almost the same in GV but without the brand printed.

Actually most of the well known doctors who work in private now , worked at one point in Rashid or Dubai Hospital. But they had to leave due to low salaries in DHA.

Laimoona, It could be due a simple thing like over-heating or it could be a symptom to a systemic disease or localize infection If he looks more fussy, running fever , having abdominal pain, or the pimples have puss and the area is red and warm , take him to a peditrician.

OP, I second what AmyAus82 said. Please don't let others push you to do things you don't want to do. When i used to work for long hours people consider me a careless mother, the same people who are describing me as a lazy person after resigning ! Simply i don't care. I wish you best of luck in your life with or without work . edited by cafelate on 27/11/2012

It totally depends on the company and your policy. Some companies will cover you from the first day while with others 3 or 6 months waiting period will applay. If your policy includes maternity coverage from day one then no matter you got pregnant before or after the starting date, they should cover you. The best thing is to check with the company directly. edited by cafelate on 19/11/2012 edited by cafelate on 19/11/2012

I hate it when my husband cooks. The taste of the food he makes is so awaful and he can't eat it. The last time he cooked when I was 8 months pregnant of our first baby and it it was supposed to be south Asian dish that he learned while living there for few years, he ended up opening tin of tuna, added it to tomato paste, keep it on fire for 2 minutes and served it with whitevrice which was not well cooked. I threw up so badly and remmbering the smell and taste give me very bad nausea till now. Did I mention he didn't bother to clean up! No Mister, if you want to treat me, order a nice meal from any resturant and I will be more than thankfull ;)

I would say yes, iron them. It might be the only time you will do it but remmber you will take alot of pictures for the baby special at the hospital and first few days and the ironed clothes will look better. Don't iron the inner clothes just the outfits. I used to take tens of pictures for my kids in every new outfit. They look super super cute.

HI cafelate, I lived in Pennsylvania my whole life before moving to Dubai. Depending on her locale, I might be able to help recommend something/somewhere - what part of the state does she live in? I only worry my suggestions may be a touch dated! Laurelm, appreciate your help. She is in Bethlehem and I was thinking of local store that send gift basket and accept online payment. Well, after thinking, any trusted website will be great. edited by cafelate on 31/10/2012

Let them take him to Latifa Hospital, Emergency service for kids is free. Meanwhile give him fluid as much as he can tolerate, small amount but more frequent to avoide dehydration.

The volvo Xc90 has a booster cushion in the middle of second raw which i think you can use it for child above 15kg and specific heigh ( i need to double check on that) and the right and left sides will easily accommodate 2 car seats.

We rarley see any security in the gardens theses days. I wish such incident will force Nakheel to pay more attention to this. Meanwhile we as parents need to be very carefull, the amount of kids playing with no attendant in the playing area is shocking.

Ladies, everyone has his own thoughts and believes, i know setting a domestic animal free is a dangerous option. The best thing is to re-home. But what if we couldn't manage that? to kill him ? No sorry, i can't. I believe animals have souls as human, and we don't have any right to kill them. There is a chance they will die in the street, yes, but it is a 'chance' ! and i believe in the mother nature of these animal, again ' believe' so its me thing and i don't expect you to agree :) However letting an animal in the highway with no food, thisis killing, i will do my best to keep them in a comunity or a park close by home, and provide food daily if i can. Friend of mine let her cat under her building ( there is no much car in the area and alot of green) and put food and water daily. This is from 2 years, and the cat looks happier than when she was locked in the appartment !

I second The Gardens, you can get 2 bedrooms with this budget. Kitchen is closed also. Leasing directly from Nakheel. But you will pay for chiller which about 1200 AED /month for 2 bed rooms. However chiller fees is included in the rent of the apartment in the big pink buildings, so worth a look. Just make sure its The Gardens not discovery gardens, the 2 areas are very close to each other, but totally different.

I wish you can find new home for him. Maybe its not my right to comment on that, but why to put him down?? If you can't handle the situation anymore set him free. I'm sure he will survive out there. Sorry but i can't understand killing animals for any reason, special healthy ones. edited by cafelate on 17/10/2012

Few years back, we were selling a car and the buyer asked for test driving on SZR. I remmber he was changing lanes in crazy way with speed of 130-140. We asked him to stop and my husband drove our way back to his car parking. Since then we never allowed anyone to drive our car even he is serious buyer. He can check in any garage but driving is big NO. If im in your situation I would ask for proof, if you caused the fine it will be nice to pay for it. If the owner is laying you can complain for the police to stop him from fooling other people. And yes, keep all her text msg in case you need them in future.

I used to drive from old dubai to Shahama every day. 136 km takes around 1 hour 20 min or 30 min. I used to hate dubai part with all the traffic, however Shahama is outside AD so cant judge about the airport way. By the way i did that even when i was 8 months pregnan ! Now i'm living in the gardens so i hope this will make it easier when i will re-start my work after 2 weeks. One of my friends used to have driver, she said it makes her life easier and less stressfull, i'm keeping this as as option but nothing decided yet. yeh the probs with a driver is that does that driver hang around in ad or drive back to dxb and then back again for the evening pickup, if so, then adding more money in the upkeep of the car etc, also some people feel they prefer to drive themselves so they are in control of their own fate as it were. obviously if you have a driver you can go to sleep or catch up with work.... but then you have to trust that driver too. I wish there was a bus service from Ibn battuta bus station to somewhere close to Mafraq hospital. Are you aware of any , busybee2 ?

Oh one more thing regarding the human milk, im Muslim and in Islam we must know the donor of the milk since by Islam if the child recieves 3 filling meals by diffrent woman, this woman will consider his mother by feeding. This means he cant marry her or her daughters since they will be his sisters. However it's super great idea as long as who will know she is donating to who. I thought of sharing this info since the topic is brought :)

Ilovewine and kiwispiers, im really thankfull for the great tips. Many people were telling me its too late and better to star formula, but I really want to try my best. I dont know anyone who can let his pump so I will buy new one hopefully by tomorrow and will let my husband to offer the bottle. Im not sure about my let down, but usually it takes 7-15 minutes to finish the nursing, I read alot of reviews that it will take 20- 30 min by pumping, I hope it will be one of the lucky ones that finish faster. I will keep you ubdated.

I second the choclate idea, no individual gifts are expected. Money for kids will be very apreciated in Eid but not in Ramadan. For greeting say : asalam alykom Ramadan Kareem or Ramadan Mubarak both are fine. Chake hands with women not men. Be yourself, relax and enjoy.

If you think this is bad, wait untill you will give birth,, your hair will star falling :( The only thing that i found it helpful is to use bath cream instead of the regular conditioner,, after washing your hair with shampoo, apply plenty amount of bath cream, keep it for few minutes then wash it. It gives very nice silky feeling and apperance to the hair. You can find it under many brands in all major supermarket in shampoo and conditioner section. Best of luck. edited by cafelate on 12/04/2012

It sounds weired that the police refused to remove the car,, i thought they remove any abandoned car . only last month they removed one of our neighbour's car which was parked in an open parking in front of his building because it didn't move for 2 months and the security thought its abandoned, however there was no registraton plate on it, so maybe diffirent senario. I suggest calling the police again. edited by cafelate on 06/04/2012

I can't say for certain but I am pretty sure they would accept you at 33 weeks, why wouldn't they, when I switched here at around 6 months I did have to repeat all the blood tests etc but if you can get a copy of your records from the other hospital I am sure that would be helpful. They don't have a clinic off site, best to go to hospital, they do take some walk ins but it can get really busy best to call for an appointment, or even drive up and have a look around and make appointment when you are there. I heard that they will soon start a Saturday ob gyn clinic, this would have been super helpful for me last year, not sure if its started yet.. When I went you couldn't get a specific doctor, quite often seeing different one everytime, I am not sure if thiS has changed. If you are given the option which doctor to sEe try and get Dr Ritu, she is the head of the department and I thought she was excellent. I've called them in the morning, they didn't answer but then they called me back - wow, didn't know this is posssible in public hospital ! - anyway they gave appointment through the phone but it's after 3 weeks which will be very late, so i will go there in person and try to convince the doctors to give me earlier appointment. I asked them if i can have a tour in the hospital but the nurse in ante-natal clinic was not sure. It is less than 30 minutes driving from home, which makes it great option. I have few more question, did they allow the husband to stay while in delivery? and since my insurance covers for a private room, did they allow female escort to sleep over night ? jackieq513, thanx alot for all the help.
