The Palm's Children's Oasis has drop in daycare if that's in the area. Haven't tried it, but you just pay by the hour.

JS, my MIL just had a hip replacement in Oz not two weeks ago. She was up walking the next day, as per Dr orders, and was in the hospital for 6 days (got released 1 day early). She opted to have some PT but Dr said it was at her discretion. She (two weeks later) is still not doing stairs or lifting the smalls (4 yo), but otherwise doing all the normal activities. She said she will try stairs next week. HTH, the recovery time seems to be short, but stairs are a problem for her.

I got a set of three smaller ones from ELC at Mercato last year sometime. They are pink and green with flowers.

Thanks for that, CT. I think, being a product of public schools, I haven't given a lot of thought to public v private, so that's something to think about. It sounds like private really suited you and your family. So, DH has on his agenda househunting every morning for a week, then lunch and wandering every afternoon (as much as you can with two smalls), thanks for the advice.

I go away for an afternoon and come back to fantastic advice and info -THANK YOU! All so helpful. As to the number of people transfering, it may have to do with all the gas developments. It's going home for us, sort of (Sydney is home), but it will still be a 3-5 year assignment so we really want to get in there and settle quickly. We're comfortable with buying vs renting as it keeps our foot in the Aus market and it helps us make a home - paint on the walls, pictures hung, etc. Given our timeframe it doesn't make sense to wait a year, but a lot to jam into one week! CT, may I ask why you chose private vs public? And did you go private all the way or just in the later years? Don't answer if too personal. I hope you're enjoying repatriation and the time with family. I appreciate the info from your friend as well. Again, thank you for all the info. I'm sharing with DH, doing more searches, and will come back with loads more questions ;)

Thanks CT. DH's fave house (from pics) is in Mt. Lawley, but the address says Menora. Apparently the street spans both towns. I'm assuming that it would be in Mt. Lawley catchment area as Menora doesn't have a school. I have primary school aged kids. I'm going to call the school tomorrow, but what is your feel for the town and the schooling? Do you know people who've been happy there? I'm noticing a lot of parks in the area and it looks like the area is quite established (big trees, etc), is that your feel? Does it have a good neighbourhood feel? Are there a lot of families with older kids or a lot of people just starting out or is there a mix? It's just so hard when you're not there and don't have enough time to really get to know a place (one week to househunt and buy). Also looking at a house in Claremont if you have a feel for that as well. And just a big THANK YOU, as I've been taking your advice on all the threads and they've been invaluable, especially around schooling.

Yes, loads of 'relocating to Perth' threads recently. Very nice to be able to piggyback on others research and the great advice, thank you all for that. I'm currently on the school site mentioned! We are house hunting in Oct so wanted to see where our favorite houses at this stage stack up in terms of schooling. Two are in MT Lawley, anyone familiar with the area? A get-together would be great -- sign me up!

I hate to hijack, but do any of you ladies know of a site where I can find out the catchment area of a school? We're looking at a number of different houses and areas and I would love to be able to type in an address and see what school's catchment area it falls into. Is this possible? TIA.
