One of the best, IMO, is Pergolas at Murooj Rotana... AED199, great food and nice atmosphere. One thats a bit "livelier is Grand Grill at Grand Habtoor. Not to say that Pergolas is quiet...Its not, and particularly if you pop down to Double Deckers afterwards....lol HTH hey captainjacky - hats our favorite too, especially if you have joined Rotana and have the card, its 199 total for the two of us! we love it! Ooh, not got the card.... Tell me more!! But still cracking value, as like you say it includes alcohol. Went again on Friday.... Still feel a bit dodgy now!!!! lol

Yes. We stayed there last Spring. Its about 45 mins from the airport. Not a great deal around but loved the hotel. Smashing pool... Beach is down quite a few steps but lovely. The rooms were nice and clean...Ours had a massive balcony with sun loungers and a great view. I think it was The Chedi that had been highly recommended on here, so we went for a peep.... To be honest, we much preferred The Crown Plaza.... HTH

After the Grand Mosque you could park at Marina Mall and maybe visit The Heritage Centre which is close by. Then have a walk along the corniche, stopping off at one of the cafe/restaurants along the way.

Think it is much easier to pick up another language if its being spoken around you. Always thought it was wrong that in the UK we didn't start learning until age 11... By then it is all from a textbook, whereas, other countries start teaching a second language fron nursery/infant school and it becomes second nature.

I really think you are all marvelous being able to speak numerous languages. Envy you. xx Here, we have the advantage to not speak english as mother tongue. When you speak english as mother tongue, your language is spoken all over the planet...much more difficult to get the interest in learning a new language ! Hmmmm.... But i think it makes us lazy.! Still really admire all of you who speak more than one language.

Did Phi Phi and James Bond Island. A great day out. Went on an organised trip with Air Asia (But can book in resort from countless places). Stopped off at Phi Phi where we went in canoes(which were rowed for us!!) into the caves and out into a lagoon. Saw the monkeys from a distance but not to touch. Then on to James Bond Island. Great for photo opportunities! Then lovely food on the boat with music and a couple of breakdancers?!?! The "local" culture was....ahem...Interesting in Phuket.... But loads of couples and families and a great atmosphere. Mind you, we did stay just off Bangla Road!! Enjoy.

You could take the metro. There is a station at both terminals and they are very user friendly.

Ok, so i'm making Tom Yum soup and Thai green curry for tea. Would it be ok to make them both this afternoon and heat them up later, or cook them when i want to serve them, as one contains shrimps and one chicken? *Hangs head in shame for having to ask and wishes she had another username to hide behind*

We've just been and stopped at The Millenium in Phuket. It was a great hotel but probably wouldn't recommend it for small children. The Holiday Inn looked much more child friendly and is still centrally located....

Hi Dubai Cat. I was thinking of you in the middle of the night when I was nursing my 22 month-old. She was pulling on my nipple, massaging my other breast, rubbing, and I truly find that repulsive and uncomfortable. I have noticed that most breastfed toddlers do this so be happy that you will never have to get to that point!! Repulsive? I think you have some issues that needs sorting through....:\: maybe time to see a professional since most of your posts here about your own child is very negative. Maybe AnonDubai needs a little bit of help and support.... Not every new mum finds the experience exhilerating and maybe she is just being honest in how she feels. Feel free to chat freely on here AnonDubai as to how you feel and you WILL get support chick. xxxxx

I don't generally post on these threads as i think parents have a better knowledge of how to deal with their own children in regard to how mature etc they are. BUT..... Not knowing the facts, and from experience, i would suggest that you advise your daughter to just look at them in a condescending and pitying way and ignore them. Chances are they are trying to get her attention, albeit in a strange sort of way..... And don't forget girlfriends at that age can be pretty coniving too... Ah...13yr old daughters..... Don't worry, they'll soon be 16 and you'll lose even more sleep!!!! Bless. x

Skimmed through the posts but i really don't get it! Think the customer service in cafes, restaurants and shops is second to none here!! OK, so sometimes in the malls when the assistants are following you around can be annoying. But just politely tell them you are browsing and they move away. Much prefer it to the sullen, couldn't give a *&it attitude that you get from staff in my home country....... A smile goes a long way in any language....And you get that here....But definately not there! yaaaay..thasnk you cj - was beginning to think it's just me !! lol *High Five* to the staff over here Sue62! And it infuriates me when "we" say they are thick because they can't speak English... Just how much of a foreign language can we speak??!!... Me... None..... Well, i can ask a French guy to "warm my bed".... But thats beside the point!!!
