Have been to Al Muna and really like it... Never had a prob using vouchers. Also found The Californian at Dusit Thani the other week.... Very nice! Lots of choice and live cooking stations and a really nice atmosphere.... Also had no prob using vouchers.... Albeit you DO have to pay a bit more to upgrade to the alcohol package. HTH

Age Concern in the UK is VERY reasonable.... Get them to pop into one of their shops and they will organize it there and then. Paperwork is usually sent out the following day. HTH.

Loved Depro.... Was on it for 7 years. No periods and didn't put weight on. Sure everyone reacts to different things but, as a contraceptive, I think it takes some beating...

CABear... I really do admire your enthusiasm to work etc... But I do have to say... You have 3 children so working in Dubai was never going to be a go show unless you had someone here to help you with the school runs, parents days, kiddies sick days etc... Embrace the "challlenges" ( Hmmmm.... Remember those!!lol) And if need be spend any spare time retraining... But above all, enjoy your children... They are priceless and they WILL grow up x

As much as I do understand that you/we all want the best medical treatment... It sometimes fails to amaze me that there are so many questions on here about medical recommmendations. At home, you go see a GP and no choice about a specialist... Its given to you. Are we saying that the GP's here are not up to a specialist referral, or , is it that there are only a few "specialists" that we should go to??? Just a question that has puzzled me?

Thanks. Called up about Dr Janeta but they unfortunately don't accept any Medical Insurance Companies, and as I do have cover, obviously I would prefer somewhere that does. Booked to see Dr Yamini at Welcre Knowledge Village, as she has also been recommended. Hopefully we can get it all sorted. Thanks muchly for all your help. Appreciate it. x

Thanks... Will check them out. Anymore suggestions New Dubai area... I don't drive, so closer the better! Dr Janetta does appear to come highly recommended though... Will check to see if my health insurance covers. Thanks again. x

Morning ladies. Need to see a gynae in the New Dubai area. Have done a search here and as helpful as they are with recommendations, most seem to be pregnancy related....And my issues are much further down the line.... Menopause problems. Have noticed that Dr Yamini at Welcare Knowledge Village appears to be highly regarded, but looking at her profile, I see that, again, her area of expertise is pregnancy? Would really appreciate any advice, as I don't want to see any old doctor, not feel reassured, and have to start the whole process again. TIA.

In JLT... Been telling landlord(through his PA!!) for weeks that AC needs servicing... Now got water driupping through... Hubby emailed so called asssistant lots of times..... but only got intertest when he said the ceiling would fall down. And then a man appeared with a letter of notice!!! T*ats!! Is K20 a month not enough for these arsholes!!! 20k a month??, where in JLT are you living??? :\: Lol.... Obviously written in a moment of mad anger..... Meant 2K (GBP). Which in my book is still a huge amount of money. Doesn't excuse the fact that they are ALWAYS around to take the money out of the bank but never there if anything needs sorting(Often for the benefit of THEIR property). Know I would never get away with treating my tennants back home that way... My b*tt would be whipped and so it should be..... Anyway...Happy Thursday... x

Have always used Falcon, both in AD and Dubai. I think the water cooler plus 2 bottles were AED350 and included a voucher booklet of 11 tokens. Never been let down by them. They come at same time every week. HTH

I arrived as a "virg*n" expat into AD 4 years ago and obviously it took a while to find my feet after being a working mum with a moderate lifestyle back in the UK. (Arrived without "Almost Grown Up But Still Very Demanding Daughter!!). After a few months I got a little tempory job, didn't do a great deal at the weekends and then...... Moved to Dubai. Again, it took a while to settle but, gradually I started to find my feet and went out and about to meet people. Something totally out of my comfort zone, as I had never been a "Friendy"... (Do not read as Friendly, cos I've always been kind of friendly but not a pop in for a cuppa type of Friendly, If you see what I mean!) type of person.... So, Goes out and meets lots of ladies from all over the world, which incidently, I thought was a fabulous bonus to living here in the ME. Made friends, was invited out to various ladies type day in/night out get togethers and thought I was basically seen as a fun loving person. Roll on a year and then the back biting began. "Ladies" who didn't like someone and openly said it to other "ladies" then began the "Oh my darling it is sooooo wonderful to see you" scenario with said lady?? And lots more besides. Must add that during the initial stages I met a fab girly who has since become my bestest friend, and yes, we are like minded folks, who do spend a lot of time together, both during the day and at the weekends with our hubbys, who, thankfully, also get on like a house on fire! Said "original friends" are now out of my life like a bad odour in the air conditioning and welcome to the rotten gossip and two facedness (Is that a word!?) that they so obviously have the time to enjoy!! Sorry about long post.......

My friend bought THE most comfiest sofa from United Furniture. A brown corner suite in a cordrouy type material. Really is the biz!And didnt cost the earth. Whereas I bought an "elegant Traditional" one a couple of years ago from one of the afore mentioned, and whilst it looked kinda fitting in our apartment, it was so unusable it got taken by TMJ not so long back!

Backside would be great thankyou... *Obviously whilst in a taxi* Bahaha - the "in the taxi" doesn't necessarily make it an any less dubious phrase, given the goings-on of a certain british couple recently ;) Hee hee.... *Note to self*... Must be *More vigilant* when giving directions in future....

Hi anyone living in this building in JLT I am consdering moving here, so many plus points but the only downside is it is in cluster O. Getting to Dubai would have to go round the lake. Anyone doing this journey is it really that bad. As this is the only downside of the apartment. Is there any quicker route heading Dubai. Any informarion from anyone living those side of the clusters would be uselful as I need to make my decision pretty fast. Thanks If you mean driving, you could always park in the next cluster down (Indigo) and then when you come out of that car park you do a quick U Turn and straight onto SZR. Or if you get a taxi go onto the "U Turn road where there are always loads available. Saying that, we live next door in Madina and thought doing the loop may have been an issue, but hubby does it every morning (going to AD) and it only takes him about 4 mins.... That is early though, about 6.30, before the traffic starts to back up.. Happy moving!

I recommend tha you go to Smiline in Fairmont Hotel Shk Zayed Rd. You do want a very calm, gentle, excellent Dentist to handle such "scary" situation (I call it scary with all the tools they use :)), don't you? Contact them at 043315991 and book an appointment with Dr. Sherri. She is great and pretty. You would love to stare at her while she does her work, it's relaxing, I used to see her in her previous clinic...;) Yikes.... :\: Failing that, I would also reccommend Dr Madhu... And whilst he has a very pleasant face, I'm not sure that staring at him during treatment wouldn't entirely freak him out...lol edited by captainjacky on 02/05/2012

Agree with SalsB. Although the villa we stayed in was lovely with its own pool and gardens and an extra lovely houseboy who looked after us, the "Main Street" left a lot to be desired. Had a very run down feel to it. A little further down the coast was a resort (name escapes me at the moment but begins with A!) which had a lovely beach and its own, fairly large, cluster of bars, shops and restaurants. This may be a better option but not November time, as it was quite wet!!
