Don't buy a new one. Get it fixed. You'll be squids in. Can you recommend anywhere? I got the iron for my Birthday 4 months ago and it cost over AED 2000, so too expensive to just throw out but true to my usual dipsy self, I can't find the guarantee! Hopefully it will be a simple problem with the plug. I'm floundering with ways to help you. If you find a grouper electrical shops, and ask one, then perhaps eel help you. Could be a tadpole expensive though... Don't be koi and don't carp on about it... But be aware it could cost you to the tuna a few hundred Dirhams.

Two major things you need to consider are is they cat going to be kept as a house cat or are you going to let it roam and where will you locate the litter tray? I am a Feline Friends fosterer and always have a house full of kittens looking for homes ... 6 at the moment! Agree Assisi... But said friend has worked closely with FF as a volunteer(sp). This particular cat came to her at almost midnight after all other leads had been exhausted. As an animal lover she felt she had no choice but to let it into her home. And she has no regrets but as i said already has a flat full of cats so needs to find good homes.

If you do want a forever cat then my friend took in a beautiful (pregnant!) tabby as a last minute necessity.... It went on to have 5 gorgeous kittens. 3 tabbies, 2 all white! 8 weeks old and adorable. And mummy cat is such a lovely tabby. Good natured and we think only about a year old. She was found in a building having been abandoned by her owners... All litter trained. And as my friend already had 3 cats...All ready to find a forever home. x

I was one who "succumbed" to the hype last December! Did the 6am queue at office then the 3.5 hour queue at Al Barsha... Outside i may add!! Hubby got his card 4 weeks later. Mine was done at the same time but never arrived. After countless phone calls and 2 trips back to Al Barsha it was eventually traced to a post office in Rashidyha(!!!). After more "frustrating" phone calls it was eventually delivered to me 6 weeks ago (Actually getting the delivery guy to hand the card over was another story...He wanted my ID card as ID!!.. 10 minutes of utter frustration and explaining my ID card was in the envelope, he eventually took my passport number as ID and reluctantly handed it over!!lol).... And just realised it needs renewing in October...So here we go again!!! Valium anyone???

To celebrate Eid al Fitr: Government Sector will be off as of Sunday 28 August 2011 to Saturday 3 September 2011. Private Sector will be off on the 1st and 2nd days of the Eid, which should either be the 30th & 31st of August or 31st August & 1st September, depending on the moon sighting. We hope everyone had a blessed Ramadan, and wish you all the joy and happiness in the upcoming Eid al Fitr. Just found this from Ask Ali....

I have taken it to stop/delay a period? It works like this. You take 10mg twice a day 4 days before period is due and continue to take it until you want your period to start. It then takes anything fron 2-4 days after stopping it for you to start. Obviously the reason you are taking is is entirley different. Maybe pop into a pharmacy...They are really quite clued up here and will be able to help you. x edited by captainjacky on 21/08/2011

If you are around the Marina then Royal Kitchen Cuisine do one for AED 59. I love it! Its not a buffet but you can order as many times off the menu. Its situated in Zen tower at the far end of the marina. AD end. If you need more directions let me know and i will try...Not my best attribute though! But honestly, its good food... and a cosy sit in..

I also have a congenital heart murmour which was only discovered when i was about 10 (many moons ago!). Never had any problems...I just had to carry a card and have antibiotic treatment at the dentist before any undergum treatment was made. Don't think they even ensure you have that done now. I honestly wouldn't worry about it unless your son shows any other symptoms of chest pain/breathlesness. HTH x

Hi Fairfield We stayed at The Millenium in Patong this past January and loved it. The hotel has the Jungceylon Mall adjoined to it and is VERY central to many bars/restaurants. About a 10 min walk to the beach but we stayed round the pool...Can't actually remember any kiddies being there..Its very relaxing and you wouldn't know you were in the centre of a resort. If you can stretch the Dirhams then go for one of the condos(Think thats what they were called!). Direct access into the pool from your roon, lovely terrace and private jacuzzi.... Heaven! As regards to the resort...Yes it can be quite "adult"..But only if you want it to be...Hundreds of regular bars and we only ate at the local restaurants and had some really stunning food..And cheap too! Take a look at it online... CJ ETE... There are two parts to the hotel... Lakeside and Beachside. Lakeside is definately more "adult friendly"...And the rooms are called Cabanas, not condos as i previously said!! Saying that though, the regular rooms are still nice! More strong tea needed.... I promise that I will do my best to do my duty to God, to serve the Queen and my country to help other people and keep the Brownie Guide law. LOVED LOVED LOVED being in Brownies! But who do UAE Brownies promise to do duty to? Just asking as know nothing about the international Guide movement in general, and was wondering how it would work somewhere with a large numbers of different nationalities and religions, plus a local ruler. The words of the Promise changed many years ago and is as follows I promise that I will do my best to love my God To serve the Queen and my country To help other people and to keep the Guide (Brownie Guide) Law. British Guides overseas make the same promise as Guides in the UK regardless of the country they are living in. The word God can be changed to suit a girl's faith. If foreign girls join British Guides in the UK, the second line of the Promise is changed to "to serve the country in which I live" Some units choose to use this line overseas in addition to the line about Queen and country. :) Crikey...Even the Brownies has gone PC mad!!lol LOL CJ...... I can remember my DD being sent to the headteacher for asking her little Indian friend if she was a brownie as in a member of the brownies. Seemingly the teacher thought it should be recorded as a racist comment! Ha ha Dally!! That did make me laugh out loud!

I'm very surprised about the positive reviews of the hotel here. I love the Jumeirah properties, esp. Al Qasr and Mina Al Salam- they're tasteful, everything fits and it's pure luxury. Zabeel Saray however is such a design disaster and wanna-be nouveau riche place that I really couldn't believe it to be a Jumeirah project. Nothing fits together, the colors in the lobby are clashing but not in a positive way, there's no common design pattern. Worst is the breakfast restaurant - a cheap knock-off combination of wanna-be Versailles (mirrors) and Roman Palace with absolutely no taste at all. Vases that look as if they were bought for 2 AED in Karama on the tables clash with supermodern black and white salt and pepper combination which again don't fit the "old" theme that the restaurant is desperately trying to pull off. It's awful, I was so disappointed. I took a friend there for breakfast, thinking it would be like the other Jumeirah properties and I was so embarassed when we walked in... The pool area/ outside terrace looks nice, but inside the cobalt blue lights in the hallway which don't accentuate anything but just add to the confused style and esp. the faked fresco painting on top of the stairs just look pitiful. Can't fault the service, as always with Jumeirah, and I'm very much looking forward to the opening of the new Vietnamese-French colonial restaurant which sounds great from a cuisine-perspective. But in terms of design, colors, attention to detail in its presentation this hotel is absolutely at the bottom of the 5-stars in Dubai. Sorry you feel that way... I personally thought it was stunning...From the entrance to the lobby to the reastaurants. I must admit I had not heard of this hotel before but after visiting, I would have no quelms about reccommending it. Am not a "designer" or an architect..But I really thought it was beautiful...And have been here a while and have seen lots of "beautiful" hotels...Maybe its just me!

Had a lovely meal ... the staff were great and very helpful and attentive ... the hotel is very 'Jumeirah' (water features reminded me of Burj Al Arab, decor more Al Qasr) ... the food was very good we had ... Starters Potato cakes Scallops (not overcooked and served with a smear of sauce) Murgh kathi kebab Tomato / Cumin Soup Mains Goan Prawn Curry (a little salty but we did end up ordering two, so can't be too bad) Butter Chicken Quail (was on the bone in sauce, very good) Chicken (tandoor) Roasted aubergine curry Dal Pilau Rice (excellent - all agreed was excellent) Naans Desserts Pistacio and cardoman icecream Saffron pineapple with vanilla icecream Fruit platter The restaurant was quite busy - counted between 15-20 tables of people, so gave it a bit of atmosphere. The waiter offered to bring us a selection of everything (!) to show what the restaurant could do, but we declined just picking dishes we wanted (you can only eat sooo much). However when we got to desert, even though we only picked one dessert each quantity wise, two desserts each were brought so we all could try more! Although some of the dishes were presented in a modern way (the scallops and potato starters for example), I don't think they were trying to stray to far from traditional dishes in the taste etc. Only 'downside' is the distance you have to travel around the crescent to get there ... but that's only a minor thing. After dinner we went for a cheeky cocktail in Voda Bar where the husbands had fun in the silly pod-like seats. Nice night out :-) Have to agree on all accounts assisi... We had a lovely evening. Your "review" was much more indepth than anything I could muster up, so I left it to you! Service was fab...Not too in your face but very attentive. Food amazing and we thought the restaurant was great...A brilliant ambiance. Shame it's such a long way down the crescent but I guess Jumeirah were hoping that all the half finished buildings would be open too! I was VERY impressed and will return..... Thanks for the heads up last week and to any of you who have booked...Sure you will love it...Enjoy. x

The Radisson Media City still have their nightly themed buffets in The Chef's House, as someone else said alcohol will be served after 8pm. They are offering 33.3% discount on all bills this month too so it is seriously amazing value. Can you still use The Entertainer voucher with this offer during Ramadan CP?
