Is this for posting job ads in newspapers? Might only apply to jobs in Quebec because I don't recall seeing jobs posted in French as well in British Columbia

We have been to Thailand with young kids but stayed in hotels/resorts. If you have a week to spend there, you can split it up with 2-3 days in Bangkok (for the shopping) and the rest in Koh Samui.

Call Emaar (the management office). The Manager's name is Anoop 043627536. They will send over pest control by the next day and hopefully that should take care of it! We spotted rats in our garden a few months ago but after Emaar came in, we haven't seen any since. ETA: We were also leaving out water/bread crumbs etc for birds so we think that's what attracted the rats too. Have stopped doing that now :) edited by carymama on 27/05/2012

I did a baking class (desserts) at Tavola last year and it was great. I think the instructor/pastry chef's name was Swati. The class was small so there was a lot of individual attention etc. We learnt 3 desserts. Edited to add - it was just one class -morning session 9am - noon edited by carymama on 20/05/2012 edited by carymama on 20/05/2012

The Pre-K assessment takes place in one of the Pre-K classrooms, with one or two of the Pre-K teachers. Usually there is a group of kids and parents are allowed to stay in the classroom with them. They do a few general group activities like playing with blocks, sitting around in a circle while the teachers casually interact with them. It's a fun and comfortable setting.

For next time, Tribe. Excellent breakfasts, includes coffee and fresh orange juice, and really reasonably priced! They have 'traditional' western breakfast aswell as 'traditional' breakfasts from African countries, although i use that word with a pinch of salt. They serve breakfast all day, I would recommend them to everyone! I wish they would open at 8am though! They open at 10am but I agree, their breakfasts are reasonably priced.

There is currently a deal going on at Groupon but from what I've heard about their delivery/delay and terrible customer service, I'm not sure about ordering from there. I'm looking for a clothes steamer too.. http://www.groupon.ae/deals/national-deal/groupon-direct---113331/4010201?nlp=&CID=AE_CRM_1_0_0_72&a=2026

Hi ladies..I was wondering if any of you have traveled with your maid within the GCC. I am thinking of taking my Filipina maid to Oman. Would there be any problem getting her a visa at the border if her sponsor is with her? Thanks in advance

My 3 year old doesn't start FS1 until next Sept but he's becoming very clingy as he spends all his time with me and doesn't mix with other children. I went to look at a nursery today but I really don't want to be putting him in for 5 hours a session. Back in the UK he would have been doing 3 hours. I think 5 hours is too long. Are there any nurseries that offer fewer hours or is there something else I can do with him. I've tried the Expatwoman morning in Mirdif but he just played with me and avoided all the other children. Any other suggestions to get him mixing with children his own age and making the transition to school next Sept easier. thanks I found myself in a similar situation with my 3 year old too (and I also feel that 5 hours is too long at nursery). You can look into Peekaboo as they do have a schedule of group activities every day. Also look into Mini Monsters. They have some classes for toddlers as well.

Some parties that we have attended for 5 year olds have been at Mini Monsters, Tickles and Giggles, Atlantis Kids Club, Magic Planet, Fun Square... There are quite a few play area/mall options to choose from, or the hotel kids clubs.

I used Skynet Express a couple of weeks ago after reading about it here on the forum. It cost 60 AED to mail documents to the US. They will come to your house to pick up the document. Much cheaper than DHL and you can track your package etc.

I think the multiple entry visa is only given at the Consulate/Embassy here, and not at the border. At least that is what I was told at Oman Airport when I asked about getting a multiple entry one. Looking forward to your report back after Friday! :)

Zak's - the uniform shop in Jumeira sells iron on labels. They will personalize them for you on the spot. I've been using them for a year on my kids' uniforms and they work great so far.

Try Wellington International but I'm not sure if they have nursery. For nursery in the Marina I can personally recommend Jebel Ali Nursery (in JBR).

I'm looking for a pre-stitched sari (I can't for the life of me tie one myself!). Does any one know where to buy pre-stiched ones here? Or of any tailor who can stitch it into shape for me, if I have my own sari? Thanks in advance!
