The UAE Federal Law applies to Kg1/FS2 and the child should be 4 on or before 31st December to be considered for this year group. Not all schools have FS1 and it is exempt from the Federal Law so therefore the admission and cut off dates for this year group will follow the admissions policy of the school you will join. I doubt any school will want to take children who are 2 years and potentially 8 months old, they are just too young.

I have recently switched to Persil. Washing whites now with a colour grab sheet, the sheet comes out a lot whiter than it did when I used Ariel. I was genuinely shocked at how blue the sheet was coming out. I also use a vanish tablet and I too treat any stains with a liquid stain remover. I use the one from the same range as the sheets and on even dried in stains it is extremely effective. Hope this helps.

Hello! I use Dr Beckmann's colour grab sheets. Put one in every wash. You would be amazed at the colour of the sheet when it comes out of a white wash. I stopped using Ariel for this reason, that if I hadn't started using colour grabs my whites would have been blue. A year on and my son's school shirts look as white today as they did on day one. I can't recommend them highly enough. Hope this helps x

Just enrolled my twins at the new Blossom nursery at Academic Road. Amazing new facility, spacious, everything is new, amazing indoor play facilities, outdoors too. Classrooms bright. Dedicated music room and dance room. Classroom size no more than 14. They are still building the outdoor area and putting the classroom furniture together but I was very impressed. I had heard good things about Blossom so I hope I won't be disappointed come September! I asked about teachers, most are Western from UK or America and they are either transferring from another Blossom site or they are already there learning the ropes before the new facility opens. Hope this helps x edited by Cazmumof3 on 07/07/2013

Do you know which police stations can process this? Would nad-al-sheba be able to do it? I need to get one done soon. Thank you. edited by Cazmumof3 on 07/07/2013

Hello longhorn0915, Before I had my children I worked for a company which meant I spent a week, every month in Houston for 5 years. I got sooo used to being there and loved it. Driving on that side of the road, jumping in my F-150 hire car and tearing off up the 59. I just got here mid January and I have to say I feel quite settled and I do think this place is quite americanised. I feel like the time I had in Houston in a way has helped me to settle here. for example Pottery barn, crate and barrel, cheesecake factory, coldstone creamery and just shopping in the supermarket there are lots of comfort foods from the US on the shelves. They might be a bit more expensive than in Houston, but I think quite quickly you just have to stop doing the conversion in your head and just decide if you need it, you pay for it. I hope in some way what I have said helps you, how old are your children? Is it your husbands job that is bringing you here or yours? Is it a temporary assignment or is it open ended? If you want to chat offline, would love to share some more experiences! X

Hi SalsB, I notice someone is selling some on the classifieds on here. Page 2, face value I think. Could be worth checking out. Also there are some on dubizzle under the tickets and vouchers section. Hth x edited by Cazmumof3 on 01/03/2013 edited by Cazmumof3 on 01/03/2013

Hello Turkishdervish, I got married in SA, and I am from the UK so I had to get it attested in SA first then by the SA Consulate in the UAE. My advice is put in all the supporting documents you can if you need things in a hurry. They told me 12 weeks to return mine, but I think the letters and copies of things I put in helped because it was back after just 3 weeks. If you need help with the SA Consulate in Dubai I know the name and details of a courier. All contact with him was via email from the UK and whilst I was a bit skeptical, he was totally trustworthy and delivered everything he said he would on time. His name was provided by the SA Consulate here in Dubai. Let me know if I can help further.

Hi Niz. What happened with the British Orchard Nursery?I was also interested to enroll my 7 month there because of their CCTV facility. anyone has a feedback on the kidville nursery in JBR? I enrolled my 17months old DD in BON and had a very disappointing first week.I talked in detail under another forum topic. However, I managed to contact the nursery co-ordinator and she was a very receptive, sensitive and a professional lady who met me in person to listen to my complaints and assured me that all my concerns would be addressed. Since then, I have seen progress where I had concerns. CCTV is not on yet but I have been promised that they are expediting the process and it will be installed anytime soon. Are you working full time to send your 7months old? I wish I was not working and I don't need to go through all the anxieties of leaving my babies for someone else's care whether nursery or nanny, as only a mother can truely and fully understand a child and individual attention in their developing age is the best you can give to a child. You can outsource cooking, cleaning and everything else but not childcare. Unfortunately, I had to and I hope I find a balance between work and my motherly duty. Is this BON in Silicon Oasis? I have 16 month old twins and was considering putting them there for 2 half days a week. Can anyone else comment on whether they are good/bad/indifferent? Thanks in advance. edited by Cazmumof3 on 27/01/2013

Hello Katerob, I am coming to Dubai in a weeks time and I wanted to shift some pounds before arriving. i found Harcombe diet online. I bought the book electronically and it is on my ipad so its easy to look at. It is a quick phase 1 for 5 days which is all i could stick to, now i am on to phase 2 and i can bring in a lot more foods and it is really manageable. After phase one 5 days i lost 7.2lbs which i was delighted with. I am really positive about this and it has taught me a lot that I hadn't heard before. You don't weigh food, you don't calorie count. I felt a bit muzzy for a couple of days in phase 1, but now i feel sharp! Hope this helps, even if you don't follow the diet, the book is certainly an informative read. Keep us all posted! C. X

Hello, When will she be available? Could you perhaps email me with some more details please - age, how long she has been with you, how much involvement she had with your daughter etc? If you are comfortable stating salary and stuff that would be useful too. I have 3 boys, 1 who is nearly three and a half and 15 month old twins and 2 cats and we will be in Semmer Villas from mid Jan. My email is [email protected] Thank you. Carolyn

I second that. Although we haven't used them yet, sending 2 cats soon they have been very helpful so far. We are using them for import only and air pets at heathrow for the export. The two companies have been working together for years. Hth x

Hello, i have a son who will start at GEMS DSO and we are still in the Uk. They asked for a copy of his immunisation record and I wrote back saying he was still in the process of having them and could I send just before we travel and she said yes. Here in the UK, there is a shortage of the chickenpox vaccine so I asked if he would be banned from coming to school before he had it and she said no, that because it was a new directive others are still having it done so when we arrive i will register with a paed and have it done. He is also part way through the HEP B and again we will just pick up in Dubai and finish the course. Those 2 seem to be the only differences between the UK immunisation plan from birth onwards. Hope this helps in some way?

Hello, I hope to be in Dubai soon and the past few months I have been making some plaques which have been very popular. Since I have little ones who take up most of my time I would love to keep up my plaque making in Dubai. What are the rules regarding selling them? If I just had some in my home and friends liked them could they buy from me? If I wanted a stall at a craft event can I do that too? At what point do I have to set up a business? Also, does anyone know of good diy stores where I can get supplies? Sorry for all the questions Thank you in advance x

Hello! My hubby and I took a 4 day trip to Dubai to look at schools etc. back in May and we saw JESS Arabian Ranches, GEMS DSO and Uptown in Mirdif. All really nice schools. JESS waitlists are crazy and my little boy will start pre school in Sept. in the end we settled on GEMS DSO and to guarantee a seat for him we are having to pay from Sept even though it looks like we will be Christmas/early Jan before we get there. Both Uptown and GEMS DSO at the time had limited availability for FS1 and couldnt guarantee me that by Jan they would have places left. No knowledge of Repton so I can't help you there. We looked at potental areas to live first and then looked at schools second as driving there is a bit tricky and i didnt want to have to drive miles and miles each day. A lot of the schools have transport but not for FS1. Happy to share any other info if you like or to keep a chat line open as our boys are the same age. I also have twin boys who turn one early Sept. let me know if i can help. Xx

Hello, I will be moving out to Dubai probably around Christmas and i have 3 boys, 1 who is 3 and twins that are almost a year old. I am going to get a maid through an agency for a few hrs a week when we first arrive to clean etc. but will be looking for a live in after that. My problem is i really want someone that i can feel confident leaving the little ones with when i am taking my older son to pre school, and also those times when they are stressing me out and i want a little break from them. Perhaps all i will want to do is iron a few shirts while she gives them their lunch... Can you help me as to whether i can get someone who can do some of both, be a maid but also look after the children, but more than just the odd occasion? How much would I be expected to pay? I am nervous about the whole thing and really want to find the right person. Thank you so much in advance for your comments Xx
