Hello August Mommies... We've been a quite bunch! How are you all doing? 11 weeks to go for me... Went for an antenatal class and must say really did enjoy it. My baby boy is super active. I have been scheduled for a Doppler scan in 2 weeks just to make sure he is ok and to check on the kidney dilatation..can't wait to see him. Had my routine appt last week and he was in breech position so could not get a good view. Anyone started shopping? We booked a Uppababy Vista stroller and the delivery is in June as they did not have the color we wanted. We went to buy a bugaboo but were totally blown away by the vista. Hope it stands to what it says! Any one else has experience with the vista?

Hi,
I live in Springs (2 B/R - type 4 E with a massive garden) with two super active Labs, as someone has pointed out your biggest problem will be the budget if you move 2-3 months from now. Currently the rents are 135k and increasing for a two bed room. Arabian Ranches are more pricey. Springs is a lovely area to live with pets, lots of dogs and cats, every spring has a lake where you can walk your Lab. The taxi drivers are familiar with the area and commuting will not be a hassle.
I think I just needed to compain about it....2 days ago I felt my baby girl and understood that i had been feeling her for days but could not tell if it was her or my stomach , as I am down with a really bad flu!!
It feels so great to finally be able to feel her inside me!!!
On Tuesday I am having my 20w scan so fingers crossed that everything will be fine.
Angel Joy_I'm really sorry about your migraine. I also have but not that bad as you. Can't you get any medication?
CG9_I keep my fingers crossed for you and your baby.

Hi NP,
How did your scan go? I hope you are feeling better now. I had my monthly appt yesterday and Dr was not very concerned about the dilation. She is positive that it will be ok and I'm very relieved but still fingers crossed.
Angel joy- hope ur migraine is gone and you are feeling much better
I have booked an antenatal class at city hospital which is for couples. Looking fwd to it..

Hi,
I had consulted her once at mediclinic, IBN Batutta as I was having problems conceiving. After my prenatal check up she told us we could never have a child on our face, point blank our only option was adoption!
We were so devastated by her diagnosis did our own research and went to Fakih IVF. Today i'm 5.5 months pregnant through IVF (1st cycle). IMO, in today's era where medical science has progressed so much a obs/gyn of her stature had no idea about infertility treatment and infertility counseling is supposed to be one of her forte. She did not even tell us that IVF could be an option and worth a try.
This is my personal opinion maybe some one out there might have had a positive experience with her.
Hello to everyone!!
I hope you are all doing fine. We've been pretty quiet!!
My sister with her 6 y.o. son was visiting last week and we were always outside doing things so I'm absolutely exhausted now!!! Need to rest!!!!
Has anyone started feeling the baby? I am 19 weeks now but can't say I feel any movement. I can tell if she on the left of the right side of my belly most of the time but no movement yet. It's my first pregnancy so everyone is telling me that I just do not understand it, but I really want to feel her!
What about bumps? I feel huge at the moment and I still have a long road ahead...My bump is pretty big already so I guess I'll have a huge bump by the end of August, just like my sisters and my mother!!
CG9_how are you?

Hi NP,
I'm doing good. Keeping my fingers crossed for the bubs. My domestic help has gone on vacation for a month so been busy and tired! I know its not an ideal time but if i'd not sent her now she would have gone in Aug which would have made it impossible for me to manage esp with the baby around. I started feeling the flutters around 19/20wk and must say it's the best experience ever. He's is in breech position so i'm feeling the kicks way down, i hope he changes his position soon!
Dr Elsa, city hospital gets my vote. I'm a ftm through ivf delivering in aug and Dr Elsa has been just amazing. Getting an immediate appt with her could be tough though!
Hi CG9
I have three children and all three were diagnosed with mild dilatation during pregnancy. They all turned out fine, no problems whatsoever by the time they were born.
My niece was diagnosed with severe dilatation, turned out to be a blockage. She was on antibiotics for the first 6 months of her life, then had a procedure done (quite standard!). She is 7 now and has been absolutely fine ever since!
I understand the news has worried you, that's perfectly normal! Just wanted to let you know my experience! Take care and relax!
Thank you double star for the reassurance. It's always great to hear positive stories. I hope it resolves by itself and doesn't end up needing any procedure. Keeping my fingers crossed!
CG9 - I hope that everything turns out fine. I can totally understand you being worried but as my midwife had told me -remember when I had my NT problem- try to stay positive and do not worry as it is not good for the baby.
I'm sure in the end everything will turn out just fine!!!!
xxx
Thanks NP, I know worrying does not help as there is nothing I can do to make it alright. It's just a waiting game till my nxt scan
Hope you are doing well!
I don't know about this hon but hugs to you...Don't google much it actually gives you lots of stress. I used to google very much with my pregnancy and it gave me lots of unnecessary tension.
Yes angel joy, I'm refraining from googling. It's just made me miserable! Thanks for the reassurance.
Hello Ladies,
Just back from my Anomaly scan. Everything seems okay but baby has mild dilatation of renal pelvis, left more than right (measuring 8.5 X 6 mm). I have a follow up scan at 26wk. Must say I'm quite worried about it. I hope it resolves soon
Xx
Hi Ladies,
Hope you're all doing well. I have my 20-21 week scan on 29th March can't wait to see my rockstar.
Hi Jyoti,
Welcome to the forum! I'm having my Anomaly scan (also known as 20th week scan, morphology scan or detail organ scan) at Fetal Medicine Center and its costing 1200dhs (single pregnancy) and an additional 250dhs for 4D. If you have insurance, its usually covered.

Hi Jossie & labenyammine - welcome to the group! Jossie - i hope you start feeling better soon..

Hello Ladies,
Congratulations to all mommies and hope you all are doing well! Sorry to partially hijack this thread. I'm a ftm through IVF and due in the first week of Aug but I have a gut feeling i'll pop mid/ end July.
I see some ladies here are with Dr. Elsa from city hospital and hence wanted to know if you guys have any idea about her holiday plan? I'm with her too and at one of my appt she informed me that she is going to be away for 2 weeks during the 3rd & 4th week of July and Dr Deb will be handling her patients in her absence. This is really worrying me as I would want my Dr to be during the last few weeks of my pregnancy and there are mixed reviews about Dr. Deb on EW.
ExpatMy - I see you are with Dr. Deb, can you please let me know how's your experience been with her so far?
TIA
Hi ladies.... Congrats to you all... I am 15 weeks 2 days with my forth child. I have lived in Dubai for 4 years now but new to having babies here... My youngest is almost 10. Am currently with medcare and thinking of having bubs there but have heard some not so good things about it. Anyone heard or experienced a good natural birth experience there???
Hi Kybes39,
Congratulations and welcome to the group. My friend delivered her first baby at Medcare in Oct '13, it was a natural birth and she has nothing but high regards for her dr (she was with Dr Luthra) the team and the hospital.

I second dolleymaidson Dr. Elsa at city hospital is the best but getting an appt with her could be tough as she has at least 3 months waiting time but it's totally totally worth the wait. I'm delivering my first baby in aug with her :).. She is a god sent person for any high risk pregnancy.

Hi NP & TFK - I know its easier said than done but try not to stress and do keep us updated on the progress.
Yoga was great and I throughly enjoyed it. I'm eagerly awaiting my 20 wk scan. I never had nausea but off late I've started to feel extremely sleepy, I'm not tired but just sleepy, lots of mood swings and I start crying for no apparent reason :( Thanks to the hormones!!
I still haven't felt any movements yet, I've heard that ftm tend to feel a lil later on and cant wait to feel the first flutters.
Anyone started feeling the flutters?

Congrats to all of you! Welcome to the group TFK 2014. I feel I'm the only one who is not showing and feeling a bit left out :(. I know it's there somewhere hiding under my flab ( I'm a UK 14 size) but just can't wait for it to show.
TFK 2014, my Dr had said 70% boy at my NT scan but then it got 100% confirmed at at 16wk scan. Which hospital/ Dr are you with?
Angel joy - I hope your nausea passes quickly and you feel better soon
I have my morphology scan on 29th March at fetal medicine center also planing to start prenatal yoga from next week. Any idea where I can get maternity yoga pants?
Xx

Hey Ladies,
how are you'll and the bump getting on? I hope all the sickness has gone. I had my 16wk scan yesterday and it's a confirmed BOY for me!! :) still not showing but the baby is healthy so i'm not worried. Anyone started feeling any movements? My boy is a lazy guy lol..
NP - how did your NT scan go?
Thank you so much for your replies. I have booked an appointment with Dr. George for my NT Scan on the 24th of February (13th week, no free appointment before that). I was also told that he has his own patients (delivering) as well so I'll speak with him for that as well.
One question regarding City hospital: Do you have a antenatal package? I am looking at the antenatal package but they told me that it includes only 2 ultrasounds (to see the baby) and If you need more you need to pay extra. Is this the case or the nurce did not know what she was talking about. It sounds very strange to get only 2 ultrasounds.
Back home you get an ultrasound each month you visit your doctor. This is the way the doctor makes sure that the baby is ok and growing.
As for belly showing, I'm also showing since week 7. It is so nice most of the time but it is not funny when I realise my own clothes do not fit me and I look awful in them. Have already started wearing pregnancy collant, as I feel comfortable only in them.
I do not have an antenatal package at city as my insurance has direct billing
with them. I conceived through IVF so I was with my IVF clinic till 11 weeks and was then
handed over. I've had one routine scan at city and the second one was my NT scan. I'm hoping that at my feb appt I'll have another scan, don't want to miss any opportunity to see the lil bean :) sorry I'm not of too much help!

Being a ftm after a lot of struggle I'm just overly excited about everything..:) thankfully I'm comfortable sleeping on sides and prefer sleeping tht way so I hope it'll not be much of a problem later on when the bump starts growing.
Anyone considering prenatal yoga? I'm planning to start one with zen yoga any feedback on them will be highly appreciated

NP - I too paid AED 1550 ( NT scan and blood work). I'm with Dr Elsa at city hospital and highly recommend her but she has a long waiting list.
mumofmoo. - I totally agree with u! I feel like a fool for wasting my time and trying out the tests. Waiting for my 20 week scan now..
Wondering when I'll start showing! I'm on the heavier side with a flabby tummy and it totally sucks! Anyone started showing?? I Can't wait to see my bump
edited by Dipz20 on 09/02/2014
reading the posts here had me wondered when i am due?? I have completed 13 weeks and according to doc its 22 aug. which i doubt now. :) have to calculate on my own or make a visit soon to my previous gynae who has finally returned from holidays.
i am hoping for a girl too and have my fingers crossed for another few weeks. has anyone used the gender test kit which is available now a days...i am desperate to try one to ease my mind :)
Your dates are wrong also
you should have had your NT scan by now and what they tell you as your due date is the one you should be using, not something you calculate yourself
As for finding out the ***, even the pros can make mistakes so early, would be horrible to think you are having a girl to find out later it is not. Just be paient and wait a little while longer
Hi Angel joy,
I agree with mumofmoo. Please check your dates, I'm exactly 13w 5 days preggy as of today and my due date is 10th aug ( which was confirmed at my NT scan done at 12w). I did try the baking soda gender prediction at home twice(once using fmp and secondly during the afternoon) both the times it showed me the result as girl also I'm having most of the old wives tales symptoms of having a girl from sweet cravings to acne but during the NT scan my Dr said 70% looks like a boy!!. I'm waiting for my 20 week scan to know for sure. I haven't tried the intelligender as I'm on progesterone suppositories but there are mixed reviews about it as well. So I guess it's best to wait for your 20 week scan to be sure.
Xx

Thank for the info mumofmoo. I ll just go with the flow and see how things progress. Don't want to stress with all these things now.
Had my NT scan last week and the Dr said 70% looks like a boy. Isn't it too early for him to know the gender as at 12 weeks it looks the same for both boy Nd girl. We were hoping for a girl but now are thrilled that we might be having a boy. How accurate is this?
edited by Dipz20 on 04/02/2014
They look similar but if the boy has developed early then there is not much mistaking that it is a boy, plus the size of the head is usually different. I wouldt go buying blue things yet, wait until your next scan, but chance are it will be a boy

Oh I didn't know the size of the head differs. My baby's head circumference was 64.4mm at 12w 1 day. Any idea if that means a boy?

Thanks mumofmoo! I've decided to stick with Dr. E and see how things goes coz at this point I don't want to change Drs. At my feb appt I'll share my concerns with her about Dr Deb and ask her if she can refer me to Dr Britt instead. After my NT scan my EDD has changed to 10th Aug from 7th. So keeping my fingers crossed that I hit 40th weeks and Dr. Elsa will be there for the delivery

Hello mommies to be, congratulations to all of you!! nice to see the thread being active. I'm 13 weeks 1 day pregnant as of today and due on 10th aug and this is my first pregnancy. Thankfully it's been a smooth sail for me till now...:):)
NP - I had my NT scan last week at fetal medicine center in health care city. My Dr was Dr. Ulrich and he was really good. The entire process including scan, blood work and counseling took about 1.5 hrs and they were very professional. The other place you can look into is genesis with Dr George, I have heard very good reviews about him but unfortunately he was fully booked for the dates I wanted. Do let me me know if you want more info.
Joosie - I'm also at city hospital but with Dr Elsa. Don't know about Dr. Britt but till now my experience with the hospital has been fantastic. They have the best NICU facilities which is the most imp thing for me.
Angel joy - hope you feel better soon..

Hi Guys,
My EDD is 7th Aug 2014, I'm at city hospital with Dr Elsa but got to know that she will be on leave for 2 weeks around end July ( i.e my 38th and 39th week) :( ..she has told me Dr Purnima Deb will be looking after me in her absence and will deliver incase the bub decides to come when she is not around. I'm a FTM through IVF and was so looking fwd to Dr Elsa doing the delivery. I don't want to change hospitals now, I'm trying to feel happy that she will be taking care of me till 37 weeks and praying that the baby decides to pop only on my EDD so that Dr Elsa will be back, but these things are so uncertain as most of the women I know have delivered in their 39th week. I have heard that Dr Deb encourages C-section which I'm totally not in favor of. What do I do? Any reviews on Dr. Deb will be highly appreciated.
TIA

Hi guys,
Anyone with Fakih IVF?
I wanted to know, when were you handed over to your regular gynecologist from Fakih?. I am 10 weeks pregnant through IVF from Fakih and have my NT scan in 2 weeks. I'm hoping they will hand me over after that. Nothings covered in my insurance at Fakih and the cost is increasing with every visit.
Hello Sunshine,
I just wanted to ask you, when were you handed over back to your regular gynecologist from Fakih?. I am 10 weeks pregnant through IVF from Fakih and have my NT scan in 2 weeks. I'm hoping they will hand me over after that. Nothings covered in my insurance at Fakih and the cost is increasing with every visit.
Hello Rehafnader,
I did my first IVF/ICSI with Fakih in Nov'13 and today I'm 10weeks pregnant! :). Yes, I agree they are expensive but its worth every dhs once you get your BFP. The total cost of IVF amounted to 36000 -38000dhs. First three blood tests are covered in the cycle and the ultra sound (300 dhs) after that is charged to you. Then additional blood test will be done at 10 weeks (i had mine today and costed 3200dhs!). I did a 3 day transfer as I had only 3 embryos, hence we did not do genetic testing but I don't understand why they are charging you extra for a day 5 transfer. I don't think they do embryo freezing as it is banned in Dubai. Please check it with them.
Whom are you with at Fakih? If you want any more info, please let me know.
Hi Mummabear,
I just wanted to ask you, when were you handed over back to your regular gynecologist from Fakih?. I am 10 weeks pregnant through IVF from Fakih and have my NT scan in 2 weeks. I'm hoping they will hand me over after that. Nothings covered in my insurance at Fakih and the cost is increasing everyday..
Hi, yes I can highly recommend them, I did ivf and ended up with 5 blasts, they transferred two and both stuck, now have 1 year old twin boys and 3 embryos frozen. We initially did 2 rounds in conceive in Sharjah which there was no comparison. It's worth paying the money with dr Fakih, there is no price on having a family.
His success rates are so high, and they cannot lie about it, I personally know 5 other couples who are friends that were also successful with him!
Best of luck and lots of baby dust to you x
