Try the Duplays League; you can sign up and will be allocated to a team. They have different levels of competition and a social league which was lots of fun. Ru Active are also great and run some good training courses and league games.

Maybe for something different try a tour? I have heard good things about Frying Pan Adventures who do food tours around Bur Dubai/Bastikaya. Might be a good option if you are on your own as you can meet other people rather than eat dinner on your own. I haven't used them though. Dubai Opera suggestions are good too - it is well worth going! For dinner afterwards, I would try Tipthara in the Palace Hotel; reserve a table outside for views of the fountains. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!:birthday::party:

I'm a Marina girl! Traffic is bad but you kind of adjust to it! For us, the proximity to the water, beach, cinema, supermarket within walking distance let alone the restaurants along JBR/the Beach means it is a location that cannot be beaten. We have lived here 4 years and survived the Tram disruptions! Though I do appreciate the traffic is bad. That said, my friend lives in the Tiara (sister dvlpm is Oceana) on the Palm and it is truly wonderful! Lovely size flats with fantastic facilities. Negotiate and you could get 180K. I believe that Marina Residences is also nice - know a couple of people who live there. Palm is a real lifestyle choice - beach, and pools make you feel like you are on holiday! I am always seriously tempted to move! If you want a villa, then I would look at the Lakes or Meadows. At the Lakes you have the Reform Club and Lakes Club which have great facilities and a nice friendly feel. The villas are getting older but shop around and you can find some nice options. Lakes/Meadows vs Palm/Marina is not really comparable. First of all no lovely views and less amenities on your door step plus you will need a car. You will probably want a car on The Palm too. Finally, I would explore JLT and The Greens as always here good things about these areas. Good luck with your move x

I would recommend Dr Anna Sepiola at Dubai London Clinic - really like her. Sorry I cannot recall the price but it should be covered under your insurance so maybe check what is covered. At Dubai London you pay and then claim back afterwards.

Hi Gracie - I had a cycle with Bourn Hall last December. I have decreased ovarian reserve and the treatment did not work very well - we only had 2 eggs & sadly they did not fertilise. Total opposite to OHSS! I was with Dr Dimitry but he has now left there - not sure why; all very mysterious. I really liked Dr Dimitry so decided to move to another clinic. I am meeting Dr Ahmad Fakih from Fakih Clinic this week-end and will see what we think of him. I have already met Dr Pankaj from Conceive. He was successful with a friend of a friend so we might try Conceive. Our only, slightly ridiculous, reservation with Conceive is the room in Sharjah where the male gives his sample is a small bathroom off the waiting room - my hubby did not like the sound of that at all!!! The great thing with Conceive is they can freeze the eggs so if needed you can have a FET at a later stage. Bourn Hall is very swanky with great facilities and lovely staff. The cost for ICSI was 37K plus you pay extra for any hormone tests. I liked the team there and felt well looked after but my acupuncturist, Dr Ou said they were a little old fashioned in their techniques and applied the same treatment to everyone ie. high dosage. From my research, I think I might be better with low dose and they did not want to consider this option. I have no other reason not to trust their skills and really wish everyone luck with whoever they are going with. As Vyvyan says this is a big deal. For me, this whole thing seems like a lottery done by mad scientists! Good luck to all couples going through this - big hugs xxxxxx

My niece just started to wear glasses age 3.5. I think it was a shock more for my sister than little Charlotte. It is hard to adjust to for everyone but actually Charlotte has adjusted just fine and has even started kissing her glasses at nursery! Do either you or your hubby wear glasses? Maybe start wearing them instead of contacts? I also suggest buying some books about glasses wearing. My sister lives in the UK; maybe try to call a UK or Europe based optician for a second opinion to find out what you really need? Good luck xxx

Try Zero Gravity; we hosted a party there last year. It is run by Jumeirah Group so they can organise cooking stations etc plus have music/dance floor. Another option could be Jetty Lounge, kind of Marina-ish; very nice private area available to hire with fire pits and indoor area access as well. I don't think you could have a live band but they have nice music and food available. Also, Rosso at the Amwaj Rotana is very nice outdoor spot but again not sure about whether they would allow you a band. have fun!

What do you think is the worst radio advert out there? Love to hear your rants For me it is that whiny kid who sounds like he has inhaled an excessive amount of helium advertising Ontario International School 'the only Canadian School in Dubai with only Canadian teachers'. I hear it every day on Dubai 92 and it kills me!

Try Mr Khaleel 050 675 9186 - not cheap but he did a really good job in our first flat 3 years ago and has just re-tailored our old blinds/curtains for our new place. I like him as he is reliable, on time and does a good job. I think he is expensive though but the material and workmanship are worth it!

Love this forum! Not sure if I am repeating earlier points but if you own a property valued at over 1m AED then you are eligible for a residency visa. We bought conservatively; a small flat in an Emaar block; maybe a stupid decision but only time will tell. We still have a savings buffer to fall back on if needed & our mortgage is a 1/3 of our rent. As long as the market stays the same we should make money on the flat but we can afford to sit it out for a few years if the market falls. Why did we buy? We did not want to keep on renting, being at the mercy of our LL plus we have a generous housing allowance so made sense to us to put that towards buying. We have a property in the UK that is rented out with the mortgage covered. In an ideal world, I wanted to buy another flat in the UK but the prices in the South are so incredibly high that we could not afford it. We are living in it and then will keep it as long as we can as a pension pot - let's see how it goes!

I would contact your bosses new employer; they will employ drivers in their company. Ask the company PRO/HR to ask the drivers for their recommendation. The drivers all seem to have a crazy Dubai network of other drivers, cleaners, helpers etc. For maids only, try Howdra. My boss has a 2 year contract for a live in maid from Howdra and with a little training she is a great asset and important part of the household :)

A Dubai based IFA suggested we invest in a long term plan with Generali last year but did some research with the help of my dad, and some UK advisors, and they said don't touch it. I don't know anything about these kinds but my dad pretends to! A Towry Law, a UK advisor told us to never ever sign up to a contractual Savings Plan with GWM - either with Generali or Skandia. Apparently, you will lose the first 2 years payments in commissions... Old posts but check out: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=3396314

Friends of ours had a ceremony at Chateau Lagorce near Bordeaux - it was absolutely beautiful shabby chic chateau with lovely rooms and gorgeous wisteria growing up along the walls. Would highly recommend it. More St Tropez way but you could try Villa Ephrussi which was owned by the Rothchilds which is also stunning. There are obviously some amazing hotels in St Tropez way like Chèvre D'Or or Eden Roc but they are very very expensive!

As of the 3 July, they had run out at the Al Baraha Hospital. They were expecting new yellow fever vaccines to arrive in 1 months time. I am not sure about Al Mankhool - they don't usually answer the phone (!) so best to go there early and ask when you arrive.

We have lived in our flat for 2 years and want to extend for 6 months rather than 1 year. This is because we are completing on a flat and the tenant moves out in late January. Our contract is registered with Ejari. I spoke to the LL's property manager and he said initially 'no problem' but now he is staying the LL may not agree and we might have to move out in Sept.... I don't think he can do this as he is not giving us sufficient notice (i.e. 1 year!) but at the same time we don't want to sign up for another year! I am still negotiating (well he shouts at me and I try to stay calm and balanced!). Has anyone extended for a period shorter than 1 year and got any negotiating tips?! Thanks in advance :)
