Yes, the big names couriers cost an arm and a leg, I use Skynet, have done for years, they are just as efficient and fast as the expensive ones, 1.6kg to France will cost you dhs 215.00 They will collect from your location and deliver door to door, France should not take more than 3-4 days so should just make it if you call them today. 0 4 282 6555 www.skynetworldwide.net

I am just trying to register with them (I did something similar in the past when I was living in UK, good fun) and it is asking me for the following info which I don't feel comfortable providing: - bank account opened in - full name as per card - IBAN number - passport number - my size?..! - details of my car - household income - passport ID photo - full body picture Seriously, would they like to know details of my menstrual cycle too? I don't feel comfortably providing all this, but please do speak up if anyone else has signed up with them and it's legit and all ok! Then I will apologise for being sceptical, and I will sign up :) I would not provide all those details either, where in the world do they ask for your passport ID and number and bank account number for a mystery shopper job. Sounds a bit suss to me.

Thanks both of you, good to know that I wasn't unreasonable for being annoyed . Nothing about this in contract. I think I'm going to let it slide for now and 'pick my battles' - landlord is a very affluent business man and owns whole compound, and others, I'm going to save all my noise-making for if/when he tries to bump rent up! I would make a note of this incident, time and date, in case you need to refer to it later. Who knows what this owner thinks he can do, if he sent the watchman to enter the garden he clearly does not understand the tenants rights under rental law. Why not simply ask him if indeed the watchman was actually sent by him, perhaps he was lying to you when you apprehended him, in which case the watchman is trespassing and I would not let that go.

Hi All, Looking for a really good cut, I go to a lady who does fab colour but unfortunately the cut is hit and miss, I've been growing my hair so now need some sort of shaping to make it look good :-) Any recommendations greatly appreciated. TIA I would recommend Yani at Ibn Battuta Gate hotel, she is a very talented stylist, works for fashion shoots and events. http://www.yannisalon.com/

The compound watchman does not have right of entry into your garden, that is your private property as per your contract and even if its in your contract that the landlord will take mangoes of the tree they need to ask permission to enter to do so, if I were you I would check your contract and see if he had any right at all.

Bumping this up in case you are still looking, I saw some lovely handmade camel saddle bags yesterday at Town Centre Mall artisan market which is on again today. They are on display at Bedouin Kilims stand, lots of really beautiful camel hair rugs, carpets and runners too. Well worth a trip if you are looking to buy authentic Bedouin made furnishings. Morning ladies... Does anyone know if it's possible to sponsor a family member (my sister) to come and live in Dubai and possibly work for us? We have heard a lot of conflicting information. Anyone else brought a family member to the UAE? Many thanks in advance. Yes, it is possible to sponsor extended family, the residence visa is valid for only one year at a time, its issued on a humanitarian basis and certain means tests will apply, such as, there is no one else to support your sister and you are her only living relatives. There is a salary minimum and either you or your husband whoever is the main wage earner can be the sponsor. There will be a 5k deposit and the usual processing fees. I would recommend you use a PRO to do the paperwork or have your company PRO do it. ETA if she is married it will not be permitted as her husband is seen as her main supporter. <em>edited by Di@DXB on 30/05/2014</em>

I am not sure that it is a marketing ploy; perhaps the OP. Is doing research for a paper she is writing? There is no followup from her. edited by mrsb. on 29/05/2014 But would a serious academic conduct their research by posting the exact text of an advert from a spurious herbal supplement? Then not follow up with any further explanation as to why she needed the responses when doubts are raised as to her purpose, and rather than explain her need for research, she then posts an insulting and hysterical reply, does not sound very academic to me.

There is a lady here in Dubai who makes beautiful bunting and other unique fabric items, (personalised if needed) she has made lots for me to give as baby gifts. She uses the type of fabric you are looking for, has lots of choice and the quality is top notch. 1 string of bunting cost me AED150 last time I bought it. Her name is Carla Bygrave and her company is called Bright & Beautiful Here is a link to her Facebook page, she has lots of photos there. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bright-Beautiful-ME-creative-fabric-ideas/231202810239601 edited by mum2girls on 29/05/2014 Thanks for the link, was just taking a look at the FB page and I see she will be at the Marketeerzz event tomorrow at Town Centre if the OP wants to catch up with her there. <em>edited by Di@DXB on 29/05/2014</em>

So taking on the OP"s challenge of "it's really on to you to know" I think I have found the reason for this strange thread. The first paragraph of text "To all Health Concerns, Most people regard good health as merely being, “Absent from disease or illness”. Most people are content to just get out of bed in the morning and know that they are alive. For most to be healthy simply means “Not to be Sick” The true definition of good health is much broader than that. Good health means being able to live life to the fullest. It means waking up in the morning in a clear, happy state of mind, with copious amounts of energy and a spring in your step that lasts the whole day. This is living at ones peak!" If you paste this paragraph into Google it brings up http://www.wonderherb.com.au/ Interestingly you will note the company promoting this wonder herb has been legally obliged to publish a retraction to all its claims of being a medial panacea. My guess is the thread was posted to elicit responses from us that would open up the OP intended promotion of this product. Hence the hysteric response when it did not pan out as planned. But the original post was ages ago ...where has the OP been in the meantime ? lol Maybe was unwell!

Sorry to hijack your thread. . Di@dxb.. Please advise where you can buy liquid castle soap (from your homemade shampoo recipe) and zinc oxide... Thanks.... You can find organic liquid Castile in some of the organic stores, pretty sure O F & C have one. It tends to come and go so maybe call and ask first.

I don't rely solely on sesame oil alone for sun protection, I make a blend of oils with a barrier cream, as I outlined before I use it in combination with other natural sun protective oils such as Shea Butler which has also some sun productive qualities and barrier creams, if you want the recipe its here http://wellnessmama.com/2558/natural-homemade-sunscreen-recipe/ I would think it safe on a child but you could always write to that website and ask. Alternatively look for a non toxic sunscreen from the safe products directory at EWG http://www.ewg.org/2014sunscreen/

I called again on Friday and was told I would receive a call back in 72 hours. I know there was a bank holiday so will hopefully hear something soon. DiDxb, did the message on the progress page change the week before it was delivered back to you? The last time I tracked it,, which was a few days before it arrived, it still was saying 'being processed', the same message as all the previous weeks before it was dispatched. When I applied in March they were saying four weeks estimate and mine took exactly 9 weeks to the day. hth

We fly five weeks tomorrow too!!! Everyone I chat to tells me to stop stressing and it'll be here but I am not too sure! How long ago did you send yours in? I fly 6 weeks today and the passport office have had mine for almost 5 weeks. Mine has just come back in exactly 9 weeks, so you should be ok as you have allowed 11 weeks for processing.

I dislike MOE, Dubai Mall, DCC and MCC for the same reasons, hate the size of the places and its pain to park in all of them most of the time if you don't get there really early, then if you do make it inside is always so noisy and full of people who happily bash into you as they walk around, I never notice the same elsewhere in other countries as much, malls here are never a relaxing shopping experience IMO. It does not seem to matter how big the malls are here, Dubai is becoming overcrowded everywhere these days and a leisurely or pleasant shopping trip is getting harder to find anywhere.

I don't mean to sound rude but unless in an emergency why do people leave it until the last minute to apply as I believe you can do it 9 months prior to expiration? Well in my case I applied a good 4 months before travel date which normally would be more than enough time. It has never taken 9 weeks before from here, something has changed with the efficiency since they moved from Germany to Liverpool.

I'm getting nervous too. They've had mine and DS's 4.5 weeks. We travel in 6 weeks. Did the courier call before delivery? I may well end up moving before my PP gets returned. No they never call before delivery, I have done three separate family renewals this year and each time the courier just showed up unannounced, fortunately I was in each time.

A bump for this thread in case anyone is thinking of renewing before their Summer break. I'm at 8-1/2 weeks since I sent my passport for renewal, it still says processing on the website and according to the passport office it's being processed and there are no issues. I travel in July so should be okay but ulp! Oh that is just ridiculous! 9 weeks for a passport? Yes, just got mine back after 9 weeks too.

Not in Tecom or Marina, but not too far away there's this one in Discovery Gardens well within your budget. http://tnydu.biz/DkivlN This is only for 2 weeks so not cheap, 8k a month! I am not sure you will find anything much under 5k, as rents have recently gone mad so have sublets. So sorry for my mistake, The title of the ad said per month for 4.k, yes I see the text below says for two weeks, confusing ad, however this one is per month as far as I can see http://tnydu.biz/DkivqN Dubizzle could be a good source of possibilities for the OP <em>edited by Di@DXB on 25/05/2014</em>

I think one would be slightly delusional not to realize that any removal from a family unit, be that a parent working away, parents separated or boarding school is not going to have some issue on various family members and children suffer in one way or another. But thousands of families do it and survive, cope, and thousands of kids are fine, ideal no, but life rarely is. edited by Lolacat on 24/05/2014 Agree, speaking from my own experience I was desperately unhappy when put into boarding school at the age of 9, my parents had no choice and I don't think it caused me any lasting problems either, in fact the person it went on to effect long term was my mother who deeply regrets having done so til this day even though I reassure her that I'm over it.

Yes, it's not possible to have a rental contract until you have a residence visa but you should be able to find a monthly short let furnished for 4.5k, try Dubizzle.com you will find a category on the drop down menu for monthly rentals. eg: [url=http://dubai.dubizzle.com/property-for-rent/short-term/apartmentflat/2014/5/24/flat-for-rent-monthly-in-tcom-and-al-barsh-2/?back=ZHViYWkuZHViaXp6bGUuY29tL3Byb3BlcnR5LWZvci1yZW50L3Nob3J0LXRlcm0vYXBhcnRtZW50ZmxhdC8%2Fc2l0ZT0yJnM9UlAmcmM9MjgmYzE9MTM3JnByaWNlX19ndGU9JnByaWNlX19sdGU9NTAwMCZiZWRyb29tc19fZ3RlPTEmYmVkcm9vbXNfX2x0ZT0xMiZwbGFjZXNfX2lkX19pbj1TdGFydCt0eXBpbmcraGVyZSZwbGFjZXNfX2lkX19pbj0ma2V5d29yZHM9JmlzX2Jhc2ljX3NlYXJjaF93aWRnZXQ9MCZpc19zZWFyY2g9MSZhZGRlZF9fZ3RlPSZjb21wYW55X2l0ZW1faWQ9JmZ1cm5pc2hlZD0mbGlzdGVkX2J5PSZzaXplX19ndGU9JnNpemVfX2x0ZT0mYmF0aHJvb21zX19ndGU9JmJhdGhyb29tc19fbHRlPSZyZWFsX2VzdGF0ZV9hZ2VudD0mbGFuZGxvcmQ9JnByb3BlcnR5X2RldmVsb3Blcj0%3D&pos=19'>link[/url'> hth <em>edited by Di@DXB on 24/05/2014</em>

organic beeswax pellets pls. I have never found organic beeswax here, I always order it online from the US, if you need it for candle making then you can find the blocks of beeswax at Creative Minds but they are not organic and not suitable for use on the skin. They sometimes have the pellets too for candle making but not always. Best to call first and ask. Was just going to say the same, and dragging up 8 old threads, some from last year, to advertise your 'friend's' business is as DT says not going to endear you any. But while we are on the topic of skill candy I cannot find any address or contact details on the website. You might tell your 'friend' that does not inspire any confidence when you are offering a ecommerce platform to process money between sellers and buyers.

I also think it would be more appropriate if we are consulted before photos are taken of us at events too, I recently went to one and then discovered a photo that was taken without my knowledge or permission and published on the website You'll probably find that in the small print of the conditions of entry of the event is a disclaimer that says by entering the event, you are consenting to being photographed and your likeness used by the event organisers. That's perfectly legal. There was only a flyer and nothing on the flyer that indicated they would take photos of the attendees, there was no other written matter where there could have been a warning.

If you prefer kid safe nail polish too there's a new brand of non toxic washable polish that free from chemical nasties, bought some yesterday, it looks as good as regular polish but it washes off without the need for acetone, making it completely safe for kids and useful for expectant mums too. its called Snails.
