... what time do you ladies go to bed? and what time do you wake up? [b'>10pm to 5am[/b'> do you wake up fresh and ready to start the day? or grouchy and sleepy.. [b'>Fresh & Rearing to go[/b'> what is your daily routine and do you get to do your to do list daily? Organised by To Do List on my fridge or computer depending its its work or home related. Usually all completed. hth BTW why do you need to know? Just curious :) Actually you inspired me to start this thread.. i saw you have posted at around 5 in the morning and i was wondering wow how does she do it.. i want to be like that.. i try my best to go to bed early but its not working out well.. i come back from work at 7 PM, i get to see my DD for 1 hour or 2 max... by the time i put her to sleep i get sleepy but i have loads of things to do.. like dinner or get the house cleaned.. or wash the dishes (can't wait to have a dishwasher).. i also want to spend some quality time.. by the time i look at the clock it says 12 and i get so depressed.. i have been trying to wake up at 6 for sooo long now.. so that i can get to work early.. but i have yet to make it work.. i get up at 615.. i used to get up at 7.. as for my to do list.. i get 2 or 3 things striked.. not because i am lazy or anythng.. but there just isnt enough hours in the day.. i blame work.. 10 hours a day.. my DH keeps telling me to quit if i am not happy.. but i can't quit.. we need this.. basically i wanted to get inspired by the posters and see if i can make my day better.. and how to get to bed early and still have some quality time.. Thanks for the compliment! But really I am only a morning person, I wake up like a spring chicken but by evening I'm completely whacked! I do find taking a walk first thing as early as possible is really helpful to energize throughout the day, I don't have kids anymore and only a part time occupation, so you are doing great considering you are coping with a full time job plus a LO. My best advise is don't forget to give to yourself as often as you can in your busy routine.

I sent one off mid March over 8 weeks now and its not back yet, tracking says its being processed, but its said that for over a month, so that seems pretty meaningless in terms of when to expect it.

There was another awful accident on Umm Suqeim Rd at the last traffic lights heading towards the Ranches just before 9pm. What is it about that junction? I have seen 4 awful smashes there now. Can only think it must be people running red lights. The road was blocked and I ended up going down past GWA to Hessa St and round that way. I saw crowds of people, one smashed car and one facing the wrong way. Does anyone know what happened? How long ago was that? I'm about to take that route. ETA -Oh see you said 9pm. Accidents do seem to be increasing everywhere although the figures released indicate lower incidents. Maybe those stats are the fatalities and not all the minor or less serious crashes. <em>edited by Di@DXB on 14/05/2014</em>

Traiteur has a full [b'>Asperges[/b'> menu at the moment. Oh lovely! Must be a new dining concept! :D Very funny, getting back to me then right? The best Asperges come from Germany and The Netherlands and that's what they are called there. Actually, it gave me a chuckle, had mental visions of being sprinkled with holy water while dining, just a lighthearted comment but if you want to take it negatively up to you. ETA did not know we were speaking German or Dutch. edited by Di@DXB on 14/05/2014 Oops, in that case, please elaborate. What does holy water have to do with Asperges???? I have no clue, not even in second thought. Asperges is when they sprinkle the congregation with holy water as a blessing, so you see how I thought the idea of being blessed while dining on asparagus was kind of funny :) ETA just a joke of the word similarity. <em>edited by Di@DXB on 14/05/2014</em>

Hi, my husband was working in Doha and had a company RP. Now it's been a month he quit his job in Doha, got his visa cancelled and returned to Dubai. But due to some business he has to visit Doha again in July. Is there a rule that might prohibit his entry? Heard someone say once RP is cancelled one can enter Doha only after 2 years, is it true? What's the re-entry procedure. Thank you :) You probably would get better info if you asked on the Qatar forum, someone there is sure to know.

There's a high protein low carb loaf made with lupin seeds and other flours, its sold in C4 and Geant, they do a flat one and a sliced loaf, its quite nutty tasting but not unpleasant. The wrapper is green cannot recall the brand but its clearly marked high protein. Makes decent toast.

There are many "good clinics" if you are looking for an affordable good dentist you will not find much better than Dr Madhu of Mankhool Dental in Karama IMO. Just had all my curtains in a 5 bedroom villa done by KASHIF 050-9925600 through EW.Very good quality and work. He and his team were fabulous - very friendly, quick and professionali am planning to recover my Sofa through him this week. Now i dont need to waste my money and time. Interesting, since registering on EW two days ago you have posted nothing but referrals to that company and claim to have had several curtains made and sofas recovered by them already and now say your are "going" to have them done in this one.

Hello Ladies The UK phone number given for Passport Enquiries is actually contracted to an outfit called Teleperformance - they have a call centre in Durham. Apart from following a prepared script you will be lucky to make much progress...... Liverpool Passport Office +44 151 601 5403 Newport Passport Office 0845 471 6267 ( not sure if this can be accessed from overseas by making it +44 845) Good Luck!!! Yes you are right, tried calling about my renewal they could not give any precise info better than what tracking it for free shows. Don't think the Newport number would not have any better info either for an overseas application as they are all processed in Liverpool these days.

I have to admit I'm not wildly enthusiastic about all these wedding websites that have become ubiquitous these days. While they can be useful for the guests they also run the risk of being too public and offending other people who wonder why they weren't invited to the wedding, and there will always be those people. I have a cousin who got married last year in a small destination wedding attended only by the closest family and friends with fewer than 50 guests and she gathered the relevant information about hotels and schedules, put it in a word document and mailed it to everyone along with the invitations. This, I think, is the best way to handle it for if it's an invitation only wedding, then the details shouldn't be made available to all and sundry. The other way to handle it is to have the wedding website locked and only give access to those with the password. I see, that makes things a little more complex if its all done online these days, perhaps then it would have be good to have used e-invites in as well as or instead of the printed ones when using a wedding website so that this sort of situation could be avoided. edited by Di@DXB on 12/05/2014 Agree very good idea.

@ Di @DXB Hey Di, I'd love to join but I checked the schedule even before posting my discussion thread. It's all happening during weekdays and I'm working during the week, I can only make it on weekends, Also I was under the impression that theses gatherings are for moms. @ Sakhifa, Hey Sakhifa, I must admit that I never did any effort to make friends! But that's the whole point; I thought that I should have friends by default when I live in a place for quite some time. I thought that it would happen without searching, but I found myself working like crazy all week and all alone during weekends! Suddenly two years passed like that!! I'm into reading reading, shopping, beach, gym, and traveling. And I prefer sitting in a nice open air place for coffee rather than clubbing. The Coffee morning are not exclusively for mums, there are separate mums and babies morning events too. If you cannot make it a morning event of any kind due to work how about gong along to DUCTAC and see what there is on offer there after work or weekend, perhaps you could find a class you would enjoy and meet friends that way, check out the website here http://www.ductac.org/ and there are also all kinds of workshops around town in different places, have a look at the calender here [url=http://www.littlemajlis.com/calendar/2014/5'>link[/url'> I know you prefer a quiet open air place to sit but for one thing its going to be too hot soon for that and you will not really make friends sitting alone outdoors. Since you enjoy reading maybe a book club, there are quite a few book clubs around town too, I sure some of the ladies here can give you more contacts. Here's a few I could find http://bookclub.meetup.com/cities/ae/dubai/ hth <em>edited by Di@DXB on 12/05/2014</em>

Just curious to know if traditional wedding etiquette still exists, in my day an invitation was always formally given in the form of a printed invitation and without that no one would ever consider themselves properly invited or turn up if they had not received a card. To do so would have been considered crashing. I get that the person who is being discussed here was given a verbal ok to attend but since that was not followed with a card, and seeing that she was not even a close friend or someone in the OP's immediate circle and she went off and planned flights and hotels on the verbal ok I wonder if things have changed these days? I think things have changed. It used to be that you needed the formal invitation for all the details, with so many people having wedding websites, formal invitations aren't needed for the details, even if they are normally still sent. In this case I'd consider that as unfortunate and on the spot as it might have been, it was still an invitation. 'I'd love to come' followed by 'OK, here is all the information you need'. I see, that makes things a little more complex if its all done online these days, perhaps then it would have be good to have used e-invites in as well as or instead of the printed ones when using a wedding website so that this sort of situation could be avoided. <em>edited by Di@DXB on 12/05/2014</em>

Someone must have tackled this issue before. I've been living here for more than 2 years and I still have no friends! Any single lady living alone out there has the same problem? I never had this problem back home, or even when I travel to Europe, US & Hong Kong for short trips I make friends easily! I never thought of having such issue when I relocated, actually it was the least of my worries... All I need is some nice normal friends in my life to hang out with and do activities. Can you make it to some of the EW coffee mornings, you will be sure to find lots of friendly ladies at any of them, check the schedule there's lots all over town every week. http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_events_whats_on.aspx#CoffeeMorning <em>edited by Di@DXB on 12/05/2014</em>

Hi ladies, Movers are coming on the weekend to pack us up - I've posted a few things on the classifieds if any of you are interested in a Liebherr fridge, Samsung DW, Ariston washer&dryer. We also have 2 gas cylinders (one still full, one 1/3 full). I'm in the Ranches. Have any of you had luck selling items by posting them on the memo boards at the grocery store? I have sold more by posting on the Spinneys notice boards than with Dubizzle, if that helps any.

Hi I saw your recommendation for a carenter in another thread. Can you please tell me what was the cost of the interior door and was it solid wood? I am looking for doors for my villa aswell. TIA Well what I had made was not just the door and frame as there was no door there before, so he had to build up a wider space with new wall and plaster too, I do not know the breakdown on the door alone but the whole job with building in a new wall surround and door was 3.5k. hth Thanks again. I'll call him for the quote. Have a nice evening. Your'e welcome and I forgot to mention, yes it was a very good solid wood door.

The company 'should' have death benefit insurance which would cover death at work which would include transit, whether this was in place or not remains to be seen. Very sad case. Our office is based on SZR and today alone i have seen two accidents from my office window, its just frightening. It seems to be getting worse day by day I wish something could be done about it as I am frightened that one day it could be one of us SZR in the morning is like a race track. Tailgaters, lane swerves, texters, non indication the list is endless. I'm convinced it is getting worse, looking back over the last two decades of driving here without feeling overwhelmed nowadays with the increasing numbers of cars and no improvement in driving behaviour or manners I feel stressed every time I go out on the roads.

Awkward situation, I think she was a bit premature in booking tickets and hotels without receiving a formal invite. I would never make travel plans until I had the invitation card in hand. Perhaps you could make a general announcement on your wedding page saying that all formal invitations have now been sent out in the form of note cards which should now have been received by the following named guests, and list the invitee names omitting her name from the list. Add a note that due to space and other constraints it is not possible to accommodate additional guests. Perhaps she will understand then that your verbal OK was just a polite response to her interest. It's next week !! Yes, I get that, but as I said, I think she was premature in making arrangements merely on a verbal OK,until I receive an invitation card I would never go as far as booking flights and hotels particularly since this person is clearly not a very close friend at all. <em>edited by Di@DXB on 11/05/2014</em>

Just FYI there is no written policy that infants that require bassinets get priority for the bulkhead row. So there is no requirement for anyone to give up their seat other than for safety reasons. All the men in my family are giants and try for exit rows as they don't really fit in a standard YC seat. I actually think it's easier for me to sit in a standard seat with my LO on my lap than it is for them to squeeze in. That said, they would ALWAYS give up their seat for a baby if asked, as they are parents and therefore empathise with their situation. Also there is no requirement FIrst class customers requiring a seat at the front of Business if first is full. They would've been refunded the difference or offered another flight, therefore have no more rights than any other customer. So Di@DXB you would've been well within your rights to refuse to move. I have never seen an infant sat at the emergency doors. Just wondering sourskittlesashnut was the seat allocated on your boarding pass? Or changed at the gate? It really was very poor judgement of the groundstaff to put you there. It was also very badly handled by the crew. Boarding is a very hectic time, but you definitely should have been moved immediately. I realise that it is unsafe for you to walk with your infant, however the crew are responsible for the safety of an average of 50 passengers each and if there was an accident it goes against FAA regulations for an infant to block that exit as it impedes the safety of the other customers. You had to be moved, however I totally agree that the way it was done was very unprofessional. Agree, if we had known our rights we could have stayed put, although we suspected these 1st class passengers who ousted us were late boarding VIPS and the staff were just obliging them, anyway it just goes to show that airline rules are one thing but when it comes to what happens in reality is something else.

I always thought passengers with infants had priority for the bassinet row too, flying recently with DD we were allocated the bassinet seats in the front row of biz class at check in, then just before take off we were moved to the mid row to accommodate two first class passengers, we pointed out that the first class passengers did not have infants and ours was sleeping, they said first class had been overbooked and their priority is to give them the nearest seats in business class to the first class cabin, so after being allocated a bassinet we had to sit the whole flight with the baby on our laps. I really have never encountered this "logic" on any other airline.

Had a similar experience to RuthM, when I was recovering from leg surgery flying long haul biz class, was ok to walk short distances and got to the airport only to discover they had changed the terminal at the last minute. I went up to the desk in the business lounge and explained I would need a buggy ride to help me over to the other terminal, I was curtly told I should have booked it in advance and there were none available, how could I have known in advance that a flight scheduled from the usual Emirates Terminal was going to be moved elsewhere. My flight was being called at that moment and worried that I would be late at the gate I had no choice but to run all the way to the other terminal, it was so painful and exhausting for me, I hobbled as fast as I could go and just as I got to the gate a buggy full of passengers destined for my flight swept into my departure gate area! That was really the icing on the cake.

7 weeks is far to long, I have a friend who needs a replacement as her passport is nearly full.. she has no residence so will be unable to do her visa runs. I had mine replaced last October and it took 13 days. Agree, if you take away the time in transit for sending and returning by courier it still is taking far longer than applications processed within the UK, just wonder why overseas citizens renewals are not dealt with more efficiently.

From a business perspective rather than a passenger inflight experience, what Emirates is doing right that contributes to their excellent profit and growth is by having the most ‘monopoly’ routes out of the region coupled with an aggressive expansionist strategy such as code shares on very lucrative routes like JFK . This brings them the fabulous returns mentioned, does it make our flights a nicer experience, in my opinion EK compares very poorly in all respects on a passenger level with other airlines in the same class.
