To and from Istanbul twice, first time economy class which was most unpleasant, was sat between two men who had clearly way to much to drink and kept imposing on my space. Most of the men on board were clearly well sloshed, noisy and lewd behaviour towards the crew. Second flight I took business class same route, we were called to the gate and then kept waiting 3 hours standing in line without explanation as to the reason for the delay. My meal had a wooden splinter in the meat and it cut my mouth badly, reported it to the airline by email and had no response at all. So would not recommend! ,

Although the marketing spin of Ezyo is 'natural and no artificial flavours' its jam packed with sugar and contains soy lecithin which itself is a chemically processed byproduct containing residues of pesticides and solvents. And it tastes gross! Why not just make fresh homemade yogurt with milk, just as easy! edited by Di@DXB on 27/04/2014

Di@DXB thank you so much for all your tips.. i have already taken notes for my weekend shopping.. i have been using the organic virgin coconut oil (organic shop) now for my face moisturiser (and knowing my skin i am very sensitive but this really worked for me) morning and night.. but at night i also use mother apple cider vinegar as a toner before moisturising.. it stings but really works wonder.. i wanted to ask what do you think of mixing some coconut oil with the whipped shea butter argan oil (will be getting it this weekend from Ripe).. and also where can i get zinc oxide from.. thank you again for all the amazing information.. Glad you find it useful! I bring the Zinc Oxide in from home but you may find it in any pharmacy I would think, yes you could certainly mix coconut oil with the shea butter, I often do this myself, you will get more mileage from the butter and its lot easier to spread over the skin, plus you will have he benefits of the coconut oil of course too. I sometimes add some sweet almond oil as well as that is amazing for the skin and improves the smell. Amazing.. just amazing.. thanks again.. and i'm sorry again for asking too many qs but can i find almond oil in C4 or is there a specific place? You will find sweet almond oil in some supermarkets, but the organic oils are preferable and available in most of the organic stores and some health shops too.

OK - but i though zinc was bad for you, althoguh i am not sure i just recall hearing something. The zinc just acts as a physical barrier, which is better than using a chemical barrier. If you feel you need a higher factor and want to avoid chemicals check out EWG guide to safe brands of sunscreens here http://www.ewg.org/2013sunscreen/

Does it actually work? I am fair with freckles and i have been known to blister in the sun.... i usually go with factor 30. I am scared of using oil as i dont' want to fry myself. I'd suggest in your case to use it mixed with zinc oxide to offer better protection then. You can also mix in a little organic shea butter too as that has some sun protection properties as well and you might find the consistency nicer as well a being very moisturising. I don't sunbathe so my usage is only for brief sun exposure. edited by Di@DXB on 24/04/2014

Di, what do you use as a sunscreen? Sesame oil, it provides a 30% natural UV protection. Doesn't it make you smell? Yes, slightly nutty! :) how apt :D I would rather be a bit nutty than slathered in chemicals and the smell does wear off gradually. Besides I am already using coconut oil, shea butter and argan oil all over so generally smell like a bag of mixed nuts anyway!

Leylandii are great for privacy, but not sure they would cope with the heat. Fast growing aswell. And they are even more hated in UK than Damas trees in UAE! And they wouldn't grow in the soil, let alone the heat. Best to stick to Neem trees or treliised climbers, Just curious, why are Leylandii hated?

Skynet is the cheapest courier I have found, very reliable and just as fast as the big names. www.skynetworldwide.net 10kg to the US will cost AED 465.00 this compares very favorably with the postal service which does not provide a courier pick up and delivery. Empost will cost AED 941.00 ETA Just noticed you said pounds not kilos, 10 pounds would be AED 315.00 with Skynet and AED 521.00 with Empost hth edited by Di@DXB on 23/04/2014

Other than pharmaceutical preparations you could try raw organic shea butter, its hydrating anti inflammatory and has been used to flatten the appearance of scar tissue in Africa for centuries, it certainly would not hurt. Make sure it is cosmetic grade A, raw and unadulterated shea butter not chemically processed such as L'Occitaine etc which contains synthetic fragrance that could be irritating.

Its possible you are right. Some countries do still dip grapes and other fruits and even fish in formalin, best look for a place of origin where the use of formaldehyde is banned such as Australia and other western exporters.

also you cannot compare prices with the likes of crown who if going touk will deal with the shipment all the way thru... other companies such as delight in auh dont have much of a prescence in uk so they have to use an agent there, so you are really dealing with 2 different companies..... We found out to our cost that using a company that used a third party agent in the country of destination was fraught with problems. I would advise a company that has its own office at both side of the route. well you cant tar them with all that statements..... but you need to do your research if at the other end you are using an established company thats been there years and you keep in communication then you will be fine..... of course a lot of people here just recently have been let down big time with relocgulf etc but u need to research and research first and get references if you can..... or pay the money and use the likes of crown or pickfords or gac etc who have some experience behind them. Just speaking from experience about "a company" we used in the past who incidentally had been here for years with lots of experience behind them and still things went wrong at the other end when the shipment was handled by their agent, so I think I am justified to advise caution in that regard. .

This takes, the biscuit, currently trying to sell my car and had a couple call who seemed serious, usually I expect viewers to come to me so I don't rack the mileage up, but thought this was serious so took a chance and drove to their location. Let them drive around the area for at least half an hour explaining all the features in the car and when we stopped asked what were their thoughts as we had another viewing later that day. Oh they replied we just wanted to ride around, we are not really sure if we can afford this car. Not heard from them again so guess they were joyriders! Is this normal?

what is this all about stars blah blah ? I guess it's like a rating system to see which posts get more likes or unlikes and that translates into credibility. Sadly falls down when certain people give the 'thumbs down' anyway just because they might not like a certain poster - this is now blatantly obvious. Absolutely, you see some posts red thumbed when the content is just factual or a simple question. I cannot see the point. Anyway I am not using them either way.

i got one tonight - will test it out tomorrow night and will report back Which brand did you buy in the end? I just made a couple batches with my recipe down below, put one in thermos (like Jeeves said) and one in pan wrapped in towel at 4pm on the balcony and both are lovely and thick already. The one in the thermos is still warm I have to say, so maybe the better method, thanks Jeeves. Will know tomorrow. Good luck with yours Izzy let us know. Did you get organic milk then? Do you have to keep it plugged in for 5 hours or more? I wonder if it's possible to make it from camel milk, I hear it's really good for you. edited by Alismum on 20/04/2014 You can make it with camel milk, it will not set very well though like cows milk, it comes out more like a drinking yogurt than a firm one and although I drink camel milk myself instead of other dairy I find plain camel yogurt not so palatable, my solution is to add some full cream cows milk to make it set and taste better. Of course you can put some fruit or a fruit muesli mix in the jars when making any kind of yogurt and that would make it taste nice too.

My mum used to make yoghurt in a Thermos flask using the method described by Alismum, (the flask is substituted for the pan) and that helps the mixture remain at a constant temp and ultimately form the yoghurt. Do remember unless you can get organic milk and the organic starter (presumably not given the reason for the idea) the yogi won't be organic. Also local yogi is so cheap it's prob. not worth making at home as you will always have some batches that don't work out and the cost of the yogi maker to factor in. Organic milk is available here and organic live yogurt starter so its possible to make homemade organic yogurt. I really have to disagree about it not being worth it, store bought yogurt here is really awful and not worth buying for any money IMO. The cost of the yogurt maker is soon recovered and produces a perfect result every time. Apart from the money aspect which in any case works out cheaper to make at home, if you value healthy great tasting yogurt opposed to the stuff with nasty chemical additives that tastes like cheap powdered milk you would never look back after making it yourself.

i was going to get this one.... https://www.tavolashop.com/product-details/tavola/appliances/ice-cream-yoghurt-makers/cuisinart-yoghurt-and-cheese-maker That looks more advanced than mine and if you want to make cheese too it would be ideal. If you only want to make yogurt and a lot of it, the one I have has 14 glass jars which is handy so I can make two batches if needed.

I have a Severin Yogurt maker, it makes perfect yogurt, makes just over a litre of yogurt in 7 individual pots. Could not be easier, just mix milk and a pot of live yogurt, I use a pot of Greek as the starter as it gives a nice taste, but any yogurt that has got active cultures is fine. Pour into pots and switch on. You can then use some of your homemade yogurt as the starter for subsequent batches, up to about 5 times, then you need a fresh pot of live yogurt. I have in the past made yogurt without a machine, but I found that way not always successful as a constant correct temperature is needed. I would recommend getting a yogurt maker, you will find lots of lovely recipes to try out too besides the plain yogurt. Agree the shop yogurt here is dire. This is the one I bought here http://www.severin.com/Breakfast/Yoghurt-makers/Yoghurt-Maker-JG-3519 edited by Di@DXB on 20/04/2014

Sorry but from I saw the collection seemed so.... ho-hum, nothing different or unique to what you can find in pan emirates, or Homes r Us or Home Center. Kitchenware is much cheaper and just as nice as Home centre though and Pan Emirates only does furniture I think.
